DRY WEDDING is a Portland band operating somewhere between post-punk, gothic country, noise rock, black metal, and doom – balancing restraint, atmosphere, and explosive physical intensity.

The band’s entire existence can be traced back to Craigslist. Shortly before relocating to Portland in 2017, vocalist and guitarist Davey Ferchow began posting online ads searching for musicians inspired by artists like The Birthday Party, Swans, and 16 Horsepower. After several false starts, shifting lineups, and conflicting artistic visions, DRY WEDDING officially emerged in 2018 with Ferchow, drummer Tom Fuller, multi-instrumentalist Jarrod Green, and bassist Chadwick Ferguson.

From the beginning, the band developed a reputation for emotionally charged and physically confrontational live performances, channeling gothic tension, noise-driven aggression, and slow-burning atmosphere into something equally deliberate and unpredictable.

Their debut album ‘The Long Erode‘, recorded with legendary producer Billy Anderson, arrived in 2020 during the height of the pandemic. Forced to adapt to COVID restrictions, DRY WEDDING performed their release show behind glass windows while a limited audience watched from outside.

Rather than slowing down, the band pushed further into darker and heavier territory on their second album ‘Sway‘, recorded with Adam Pike and independently released after the group financed the vinyl pressing themselves through touring and regional runs.

In 2023, disaster struck when the band’s van and all of their gear were stolen at the end of a West Coast tour. Although the van was eventually recovered, the equipment never returned. With support from their local music community, DRY WEDDING rebuilt from scratch and returned to the road only months later.

That momentum ultimately led to ‘The Back Of Beyond‘, the band’s third and most ambitious album to date. Expanding the gothic twang, aggression, and atmospheric weight hinted at on previous releases, the record sees DRY WEDDING pushing their sound into its most cohesive and intense form yet.

Following performances alongside artists such as Agalloch, Bambara, and Slim Cessna’s Auto Club, the band caught the attention of Vesperian through a recommendation from Ralph Schmidt of Ultha, becoming one of the label’s earliest signings.
