Metal Blade Records nehmen SLOUGH FEG weltweit unter Vertrag!

Metal Blade Records freuen sich, SLOUGH FEG in ihren Reihen willkommen heißen zu dürfen, die einen vielseitigen Mix aus Celtic Folk und traditionellem Metal mit viel Energie und lyrischer Tiefe spielen. Am 5. Februar bringen Metal Blade Records (nur in Nordamerika) drei Alben aus der frühen Bandphase neu auf den Markt, die bisher nur als Importe zu haben waren: Twilight of the Idols (1999), Down Among the Deadmen (2000) und Traveller (2003), die allesamt als 3-CD-Box erscheinen, oder jedes Album separat für sich in digitaler Form bei iTunes, Amazon, Google+ oder eurem liebsten Online-Dealer. Gitarrist/Sänger Mike Scalzi kommentiert: “We are very excited to announce that we have signed a worldwide deal with Metal Blade Records for a new album, which we are beginning to record this month. The new material will be standard Feg-Fare— that is, totally non-standard!! Of course there will be some galloping, rollicking, bouncing buccaneer riffs unearthed from the Voi-Vaudevillian vaults, and a touch of good-’ol misery and madness (not to mention more peevishly punctuated puns) in the lyrics. But this time there will also be a cavalcade of cacophonous crooning to add to the caterwaul, as well as the lavishly-landscaped luster of some majestic Morricone-esque riffs at which to marvel—perhaps a slight proto-American-West feel. So as usual, you’ll just have to wait to hear it yourself!!!”

Über die Band:
SLOUGH FEG, die eigentlich The Lord Weird Slough Feg heißen, was nach der Veröffentlichung ihres 2005er Albums “Atavism” zu Slough Feg verkürzt wurde, und deren Name einem Charakter aus der alten irischen Mythologie entlehnt ist, stammen aus Pennsylvania und sind 1990 nach San Francisco gezogen in der Hoffnung, dort der kränkelnden True Metal-Szene der USA neues Leben einhauchen zu können. Die Truppe erspielte sich schnell den Ruf der Band “San Francisco loved to hate”, in dem sie sich gegen Trends sperrte und auf der Bühne eine wilde und visuell beeindruckende Bühnenshow lieferte.

Von Anfang bis Mitte der 90er produzierte die Band drei Demos, denen im Jahre 1996 das selbst produzierte und selbstbetitelte Debütalbum folgte.

Durch ihre Eigenständigkeit gewannen sie schnell an Beliebtheit in europäischen Untergrund und machten das Label Dragonheart Records 1998 auf sich aufmerksam. 1999 erschein dort Twilight of the Idols, dem sich 2000 Down Among the Deadmen und 2003 das Sci-Fi-Epos Traveller anschlossen. 2005 wechselten sie zum italienischen Label Cruz Del Sur, verkürzten den Namen zu SLOUGH FEG und brachten Atavism auf den Markt. 2007 erschien HARDWORLDER, das eine leichte Kurskorrektur hin zu Einflüssen der NWOBHM aus den 70ern zeigte. 2008 folgteThe Slay Stack Grows, eine Compilation mit über 30 Songs auf 2 CDs, 2009 kam Ape Uprising! (2009) und The Animal Spirits 2010 heraus. Das Livealbum Made in Poland (2011) rundete den Katalog der Band ab.
