MANTAR wurde 2012 gegründet und gehört zu den führenden Kräften des extremen Metal der letzten zehn Jahre. Die Songs weisen mehr Melodie und eine Reihe von Gitarrentönen auf, die nicht zuletzt von den Künstlern beeinflusst sind, die das Duo auf der 2020 erschienenen Sammlung Grungetown Hooligans II gecovert hat, die MANTAR-Interpretationen von Songs von Bands wie L7 enthielt, Mudhoney, Sonic Youth und The Jesus Lizard, prägende Bands ihrer jeweiligen Jugend. Textlich gehen die Songs in die Tiefe und stellen eine Vielzahl unbequemer Fragen über Sterblichkeit, Spiritualität und die Illusion von “Zugehörigkeit” in einer Welt, die sich auflöst und von Tag zu Tag mehr fragmentiert wird.
