The sleaze/punk influenced metal outfit known as SISTER, who hail from Stockholm/Jönkoping Sweden, formed in early 2006 working hard to build up a name as a strong act both live and in the studio. SISTER consists of 4 members who combine the sounds of punk, glam, rock, and metal with an end result sounding something like the bastard child of GG Allin and Guns N’ Roses.
During 2006 and 2007, SISTER played all over Sweden and also travelled abroad often. In 2008, SISTER toured across Europe, including gigs in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Holland, Denmark and Norway. Enter 2009; SISTER released the EP Deadboys Making Noise and a video for the track “Too Bad for You,” which garnered great reviews from critics and fans alike while also catching the attention of Primordial’s Alan Averill ‘Nemtheanga’. Alan, having recently signed on to assist with A&R at Metal Blade Records, brought SISTER to the label’s attention in 2010 helping to secure the band a worldwide record deal.
Over the past few years, SISTER has built up a heavy fan base all over the world and has drawn a lot of attention as an up and coming band. Now as a part of Metal Blade’s illustrious roster, SISTER is sure to take the world by storm with the band’s raw and energetic brand of punk metal. As the band puts it, “SISTER is all about givin’ in to whatever you are into. Live the way YOU want and not how some fuckin’ narrow-minded piece of shit tells you to. Enjoy your fucked up life and throw yourself into whatever feels right. That’s the SISTER way of thinking! Or just fuck things up till you drop…”
So what drives the band artistically? Naturally the desire to deliver a new, badass rock n’ roll show, but also to stir a reaction in people’s way of thinking how one is supposed to live his or her life. “Most people nowadays are fast to judge you, whatever it might be about. We do what we want both with our music and in our lives. If you have a problem with it, well that’s your fuckin’ problem. That’s one thing that drives this band, to show people that you don’t have to follow in line all of the time. And we kinda just like to piss people off. Ha!” When it comes to SISTER‘s live show, fans can expect pure and utter chaos. “When you see SISTER live, you see four guys tear the stage up and we expect you to do likewise. When you see SISTER you forget about your shitty life situation or whatever your problems are and you just fuckin’ go with it. Tear shit up with us!”
SISTER are now ready to take the world with their Metal Blade debut HATED!
“With this album we really think we captured what we’ve been doing the last couple of years. What type of music we’re into and wanna do. We really are a band that loves being on stage and think that doing shows is what music is all about. When we had the finished songs and put them together in the order we felt right we realized that we made it the same way we do our shows. We’ve managed to capture the aggressive sound and feeling that we’re creating on stage!”
HATED was mixed by Tobias Lindell (Hardcore Superstar, Crashdïet, Europe) and that guy knows his stuff! “About the sound and essence of it all – it’s a raw record. Raw, fast, heavy and sounds like the place we are in today. Tobias really got what we wanted and it all came very easily. It’s a big sounding record but still with that punk feeling we think is really fucking important. Gives it all the edge you lose when you over do it. We’re fucking stoked about the result and can promise that everyone that listen to the record will feel the same. People that are into us since our earlier releases but also people that hear us for the first time will get all they wanted and a lot more from the expectations they have listening to a SISTER record. As we’ve said, this is not like anything you’ve heard before. This album is a combination of all kind of inspirations from glam/punk rock to classic rock n roll, death metal and beyond. Make sure to get your ass to the record store in June for the release of HATED. We’ll see you bastards on tour later on!”
