Swedish Viking Metallers KING OF ASGARD reveal guest musicians and set release date for new album '…to North'! First video trailer posted!
Swedish Viking Metallers KING OF ASGARD made an astonishing impact on the scene with their debut album Fi'mbulvintr, released in 2010. After playing a bunch of festivals and club shows in 2010 and 2011, KING OF ASGARD have now finished recording their second album …to North at the infamous Sonic Train Studios with engineer Andy LaRocque (KING DIAMOND) at the helm.
…to North will be released July 27th/30th via Metal Blade Records as a Digi-CD and on vinyl!
The album will feature two guest musicians. Comments the band: "First out is female vocalist Heléne Blad whom did a guest appearance on "Fi'mbulvintr" as well. This time around she's present on the album opener, "The Nine Worlds Burn", doing an epic folk inspired vocal part. She's been a longtime friend of the band and is a professionally schooled folk singer et cetera. She was also once, for a short while, the keyboardist of the KING OF ASGARD predecessor Mithotyn. The second appearance on "…to North" presents the extremely talented guitarist Jimmy Hedlund. Yet another friend known from bands such as Falconer and Supreme Majesty. He shreds two guitar solos on the song "Gap of Ginnungs". Least say, amazing stuff and truly breathtaking!"

Comments bassist Jonas Albrektsson on the recording process and what to expect from …To North: "The "…To North" master just arrived and it sounds astonishing! Andy LaRocque made a great job on the production and the mastering along with Olof Berggren. It's upright and powerful. We feel very proud of what we achieved on this recording and merely the sound of it makes it a worthy follow-up to the firstborn "Fi'mbulvintr". Songs and sounds came out much as of what we planned, with power and a great variety. "…To North" takes off pretty much where "Fi'mbulvintr" left off so to say, with a natural development, more varied songs and structures. It's a development of our sound which will be recognized by old fans as well as bring some new ones to the horde. This time around I've been more involved in the writing process along with Karl, which kind of shines through, giving the songs a wider perspective. Expect some very strong songs on "…To North", where epic meets with brutality!
The lyrical theme this time is basically in the same vein but has different twists. Not as obvious as before. "…To North" will make The Nine Worlds Burn… and Varberg was just left behind."
First song titles include 'Gap Of Ginnungs', 'Plague-Ridden Rebirth', 'Nordvegr', 'Upon The Mountain' and 'The Nine Worlds Burn'.

Swedish Viking Metallers KING OF ASGARD made an astonishing impact on the scene with their debut album Fi'mbulvintr, released in 2010. After playing a bunch of festivals and club shows in 2010 and 2011, KING OF ASGARD will enter the recording studio today to nail the new songs down! The recording will once again be held at the Sonic Train Studios with engineer Andy LaRocque (KING DIAMOND).
The second KING OF ASGARD album will be entitled …To North, being the first one featuring new second guitar player Lars Tängmark.
Comments KING OF ASGARD: "Finally! We're very satisfied with the material we've written and everything is finished for recording. Getting together with Andy at Sonic Train Studio again will be great. Second round with our brother in arms. We're really looking forward to see where this is heading. It's been awhile since our debut album so we're eager and proud this is gonna be a pleasure both for our fans and us as a band. Stay tuned!"

Swedish Viking Metallers KING OF ASGARD made an astonishing impact on the scene with their debut album Fi'mbulvintr, released in 2010. After playing a bunch of festivals and club shows in 2010 and 2011, KING OF ASGARD are fully busy in writing the follow-up album!
The writing process is in its finishing stages even though there is more to be done and more to be polished. The recording will once again be held at the Sonic Train Studios with engineer Andy LaRocque.
Comments the band: "We're glad to get back there in early March and to get some new stuff on tape. This also being the first time recording with Lars on guitar.
The material for this coming release is a natural step forward for KING OF ASGARD. It differs quite a lot though the foundation of our musical roots still are very present. A natural progression of the sounds on 'Fi'mbulvintr'! Song titles include 'Gap OfGinnungs' and 'Plague-ridden Rebirth'!"

KING OF ASGARD adds second guitarist to line-up and announces first ever live show abroad!
Swedish Viking Death Metal warriors KING OF ASGARD have announced the addition of Lars Tängmark as the second guitarist to the line-up.
Comments the band: "KING OF ASGARD is proud to announce the recruit of new second guitarist Lars Tängmark! He made his first public appearance at the release party held a few weeks ago. This was our first ever live performance, a fantastic night worthy to remember. Thanks to all allied that attended! Lars is a long time friend of the band and has among other duties been the bassist of the great Swedish act DAWN where Karsten also used to play. Onward we head… Welcome Lars!"

"The "Einhärjar" music video was recorded in July 2010, directed by Richard Moneus, the driving force behind the production company 1897. It was shot in an old dirty barn at a location just outside where we live. Spending what felt like ages in the long time kept dust was well worth the sweat and blood. After the barn battleground Richard took care of the hard work to cut, edit and piece it all together in a functioning symbiosis. Now, viewing the final result we are extremely proud of how good this video turned out. Hell Richard!"

The production has a somewhat organic sound to it, simple and raw, yet allowing everything shine through and bring the production to its full justice. Recording, mixing and mastering took place at Sonic Train Studios, so we've had eyes and ears to it all the way, along with the great support and professionalism from Andy LaRocque. So with all efforts put down in this we are very proud and anxious to get this out and see from where to start."

Swedish Viking Folk Death Metallers KING OF ASGARD have revealed the frontart and tracklisting for their upcoming debut album 'Fi'mbulvintr', to be released August 13/16 via Metal Blade Records in Europe!
Comments KING OF ASGARD: "Fi'mbulvintr is upon us! Fi'mbulvintr is upon Thee! The winter of three is near and with that comes the first born of King of Asgard. We are very pleased with what we've achieved in all aspects of this coming album. The whole production is really in the face, much thanks to Andy who easily understood us, getting the brutal and bombastic sound we wanted. Musically we're talking a blend of dark folk, death metal and so forth. Much reflected by our musical past. Straight forward, hard-hitting vs melody and settled melancholy. The lyrical approach comes mainly in ancestral portraits, norse mythology, viking sagas and myths with the reflection of our personal ideals and touch. Three of them visited by guest Mr. Stefan Weinerhall. So this will surely be a package well worth to pick up. We hardly could have done this debut better, completed with the great artwork by Ola Larsson. It's cold, it's cold but we're heading home by the sounds that honour the Gods, by the sounds that trample the traitor!"

Swedish Viking Death Metal newcomers KING OF ASGARD – consisting of current/former members of MITHOTYN, FALCONER and DAWN - are currently busy recording their debut album at King Diamond guitarists Andy LaRocque´s Sonic Train studios.
Here´s an update from the band: “The debut is taking shape at Sonic Train Studios. As for now the drums, rhythm guitars and bass are finished. Today the focus will be set on lead guitars and some sound mixing of drums. So it's been a busy stay for now and many working hours, but surely it'll be worth the struggle. The firstborn is on it's way…We're heading home for a two day break…we'll be back soon. Stay tuned!”

Metal Blade Records is proud to announce the signing of Swedish Viking Folk/Death Metal band KING OF ASGARD for the European territory.
KING OF ASGARD was formed in 2008 by Karl Beckman (ex-MITHOTYN) after dissolving his latest musical projects. Teaming up with long time absent fellow worker, Karsten Larsson (FALCONER), once accomplice in the defunct vikinghorde MITHOTYN. As a result, after years apart, the decision was made to go back to their roots both musically as well as heading for their Norse heritage in lyrical approach.
With creativity flowing, numerous songs were written and KING OF ASGARD recorded their 7-track demo Prince Of Märing at Lotang Studio that finally led to the deal with Metal Blade Records. In late 2009 Jonas Albrektsson joined the ranks on bass to strengthen the line-up further.
As we speak, KING OF ASGARD are busy recording their yet untitled debut album at Sonic Train Studio with Andy La Rocque (KING DIAMOND) at the helm. The scheme is to leave the studio with twelve dirty folk-stinking songs mould in extreme metal, reminding of times of old.
