AS I LAY DYING announces Bill Stevenson as producer for next album; recording to begin in May!
Grammy® nominated San Diego metal act, AS I LAY DYING, are proud to announce that Bill Stevenson has been enlisted to produce their next album this May! Bill Stevenson has played drums for both the Descendents and Black Flag and is one of the most highly renowned producers in rock. His production credits include work on records by Rise Against, NOFX, Propagandhi, The Casualties, Anti-Flag and many more. AS I LAY DYING is at the tail end of the writing process and pre-production is about to begin with recording to follow in May. The album is tentatively slated for release in the second half of 2012. As always, the band members are very active on twitter and bassist/vocalist Josh Gilbert has been posting images from the studio to chronicle the writing process. Follow Gilbert via the band's official twitter account @ASILAYDYINGBAND. Track titles, album art, new music, behind-the-scenes video, and more will be revealed as they are made available.
This album will serve as the official follow up to 2010's immensely successful The Powerless Rise, which debuted on the Billboard Top 200 at #10. The Powerless Rise also reached #2 on Billboard's Independent Albums Chart and #3 on Billboard's Hard Music Albums Chart. In Canada, the album debuted at #11 on the Top 200 Chart, #2 on the Indie Chart and #3 on the Hard Rock Chart. Additionally, the album reached the Top 40 in the following territories: Japan, UK, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

AS I LAY DYING ended 2011, the year of their tenth anniversary as a band, with an extremely successful headlining tour. he Decade of Destruction Tour ran November-December through the US.
AS I LAY DYING are currently writing their fifth album and are preparing to enter the studio this April. The producer, title, art and all other details will be released over the next few months. Fans can expect to hear new material this summer as the band will be returning to Europe in June for some festival appearances and exclusive club shows!

AS I LAY DYING ended 2011, the year of their tenth anniversary as a band, with an extremely successful headlining tour. The Decade of Destruction Tour ran November-December through the US. While on the tour, the band captured live footage from several shows. The footage was edited by the band's own Nick Hipa into what has become the band's next video: Paralyzed. The video encapsulates AS I LAY DYING in a special moment in time; their tenth anniversary tour in front of sold-out crowds full of devoted fans. AS I LAY DYING debuts 'Electric Eye' Video On Ultimate-Guitar.com!
Decas enters Billboard Charts in the U.S. and German album charts!
Grammy®-nominated metal group AS I LAY DYING is premiering a new music video for their take on the Judas Priest classic "Electric Eye" on www.Ulitmate-Guitar.com. The song appears on the recently released EP, Decas, which marks the band’s 10 year anniversary.
The clip was shot with director Paul Brown (My Chemical Romance, Staind, Stone Sour) at El Mirage Lake, a dry lake bed in the Mojave Desert of San Bernardino County, California.
"After a long day of sunburns and drought out in the desert I'm glad to be done fighting scorpions for the filming of Electric Eye. We came out victorious, but we probably couldn't have done it without the classic metal inspiration of Halford and Priest's legendary guitar melodies," explains front man Tim Lambesis.

Band receives fourth award from the San Diego Music Foundation!
AS I LAY DYING have once again been recognized by their hometown of San Diego. AS I LAY DYING has taken home the "best hard rock" award at the 2011 San Diego Music Awards. The awards show will took place on August 8th at Humphreys By The Bay in San Diego, CA. AS I LAY DYING has been honored at the awards in the past, having taken home the "artist of the year" award on three separate occasions in 2005, 2007 and 2008. All of the genre categories were voted on by the public, while the album categories were voted on by the San Diego Music Academy. 'Best Hard Rock' nomination along with label mates Cattle Decapitation
AS I LAY DYING and CATTLE DECAPITATION have once again been recognized by their hometown of San Diego. Both bands have been nominated in the "best hard rock" category for the 2011 San Diego Music Awards. The awards show will take place on August 8th at Humphreys By The Bay in San Diego, CA. Tickets to the show are available through the San Diego Music Foundation.

Grammy®-nominated metal group AS I LAY DYING are pleased to release the following live music video for the track Beyond Our Suffering off the band's latest album The Powerless Rise. Filmed during the band's stop in Orlando, FL on July 14, 2010 as a part of the Cool Tour, Beyond Our Suffering was filmed by friend of the band Joe Hamming (www.scenerycreative.com). In other AILD news; the band is currently part of a series of tours and festivals with the first being an Australian/New Zealand tour alongside Disturbed and Trivium. Shortly after the band returns home, they will head up to Alaska to play the Egan Civic and Convention Center in Anchorage and will then head down to South America for seven dates. In July, AILD will be playing a series of summer festivals including: KRROFEST in South Dakota, Heavy TO and Heavy MTL in Canada, Heaven Fest in Colorado, and Brutal Assault, which is taking place at an old Army fortress in the Czech Republic. AILD will also be playing at two infamous heavy metal festivals taking place in Germany with Wacken Open-Air taking place on August 4th and Summer Breeze taking place on August 20th.

BTS video gives fans a look at the new technology used to film Anodyne Sea!
On December 17, 2010, Grammy®-nominated metal group AS I LAY DYING shot a new music video for the track Anodyne Sea off the band’s latest album The Powerless Rise. Directed by McFarland and Pecci of Killswitch Productions and shot in the band’s hometown of San Diego, California, Anodyne Sea was shot from the POV perspective of drummer Jordan Mancino. The video tackles the issue of free speech and the worst case scenario of what could happen when you stand up for what you believe in regardless of the consequences.
Technology played a crucial role in McFarland & Pecci achieving their vision. The video is shot using a custom designed helmet-cam rig with a Nikon D7000 HD-SLR camera and Teradek Cube for wireless video monitoring, both being cutting-edge video products. AS I LAY DYING debut on Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart at #10 with "The Powerless Rise"; debut on German Media Control Charts at # 22, in Austria at # 21! More Chart entries revealed!
AS I LAY DYING - whose last four albums count combines sales in excess of one million copies - have entered the Billboard Top 200 chart at #10 with over 38,000 copies sold of their much anticipated THE POWERLESS RISE album. THE POWERLESS RISE also reached #2 on Billboard's Independent Albums Chart and #3 on Billboard's Hard Music Albums Chart.
THE POWERLESS RISE also entered the official German Media Control Charts at position 22, they entered the Austrian Charts at 21 and the Swiss Charts at position 39. All three Chart positions mark the highest chart entries AS I LAY DYING ever had in those countries! THE POWERLESS RISE entered the inhouse Charts of the two bigget German chains on even higher positions - # 12 in the Media Markt Charts and # 15 in the Müller Markt Charts.
In Canada, the new album debuted at #11 on the Top 200 Chart, #2 on the Indie Chart and #3 on the Hard Rock Chart. Additionally, the album reached the Top 40 in Japan and position 49 in the official Australian album charts.

AS I LAY DYING joined forces once again with artist/musician Jacob Bannon (Converge) to create the cover artwork for The Powerless Rise!
Jacob designed the covers of the group’s three previous Metal Blade releases: An Ocean Between Us (2007), Shadows Are Security (2005) and Frail Words Collapse (2003).

AS I LAY DYING studio update!
AS I LAY DYING guitarist Phil Sgrosso is giving us a little update on the recordings of the bands new album The Powerless Rise!
"Hey everyone! We've been pretty busy the past few months. We're about several last minute pickscrapes/thunderchugs away from finishing ALL tracking for the Powerless Rise. We've had Colin Richardson and his assistant Martyn "Ginge" Ford out in San Diego working on mixes every day for about a month so far. It took a bit of time for us to get the guitar tone in the right place, but we've finally settled on something we all love and compliments the drums and bass quite nicely. Josh and Tim's vocals are sounding great as well. Colin and Ginge are doing a killer job!
Besides stopping by the studio a couple days a week, we've all been preparing to start up the next tour cycle. We've got an Australian/New Zealand run in late March, the Revolver awards April 8th in LA, followed by a US headliner that'll be going on right around the time our new record comes out. It's been nice being home most of the past year but it's time to get back out there with some new songs and an entirely new stage setup to intensify the live show. I've been missing that adrenaline rush from playing to our fans and I assure you the new songs will bring our live energy to a new level. Keep an eye out, we'll be coming to you soon…"

Directed by Brian Thompson, who helmed their futuristic clip for "Nothing Left," the video for "The Sound of Truth" was made at Sound City Studios in Van Nuys, CA and is a continuation of the story the first video initiated. Like its predecessor, the story for this video was conceived by the band, fine-tuned by director Brian Thompson, and displays the irony and hypocrisy that takes place in a decaying futuristic society.

AS I LAY DYING's video for 'I Never Wanted' premiered on Headbanger's Ball!
[07/05/09] Headbangers Blog and Headbangers Ball just premiered the latest video from Grammy Nominated San Diego act AS I LAY DYING for the track 'I Never Wanted' off of their critically and fan acclaimed release 'An Ocean Between Us'. Here's what guitarist Phil Sgrosso has to say about the video that was taken from the bands first ever DVD release 'This Is Who We Are', which just landed on the Billboard Top Music Videos Chart in both the US (#2) and Canada (#3) for first weeks sales.
"We've talked about doing a video for 'I Never Wanted' for quite some time now. Most videos that we've done have been for more fast and aggressive songs that have the usual AILD sound to it but we wanted to mix things up and do a video for a slower (but still heavy!) song that would be made up of footage from our new DVD, 'This Is Who We Are'."
"Denise Korycki filmed and directed our DVD so we thought it would be perfect for her to make a video that incorporated mostly footage from the DVD, plus some bonus stuff as well! The live footage is made up of several shows that we played in the past few years while the 'hanging out' footage was shot mostly while we were… well… hanging out. Not much more to it, I guess! Generally it takes us a day or two to film one of our videos but in a way, it took several years to make 'I Never Wanted' what it is. I hope you enjoy it."
AS I LAY DYING DVD goes Platinum in Canada!
[28/04/09] AS I LAY DYING's first-ever DVD, 'This Is Who We Are', sold 4,200 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 2 on the Top Music Videos chart. It also debuted at No. 3 in Canada, where the DVD has already shipped platinum.
Commented AS I LAY DYING frontman Tim Lambesis: "I'm completely honored to have our DVD reach so many people in only its first week out. Needless to say, it's a great achievement for our band, but it also goes to show that metal music has been opening new doors.
