AMON AMARTH launch their own interactive fan club!
AMON AMARTH is launching their very own interactive fan club, called Mobile Backstage, for smartphones, Facebook and for the Web.
"This will allow us to have a more direct communication with our fans, and will speed up the information process for everything such as news and tour dates, as well as give our fans some special peeks behind the scenes of future tours and festivals," says Johan Hegg.
"When we first thought of creating our own app, we pretty soon realized that the mobile backstage solution was the right thing for us. It's a combination of mobile and Facebook apps and a web interface that creates a digital fan club and allows us to reach all our fans no matter where they are," says Fredrik Andersson.
"We're very excited to bring Mobile Backstage to Amon Amarth," said Paavo Bäckman, the CEO of Mobile Backstage.
With Mobile Backstage, AMON AMARTH and their fans can exchange news, pictures, videos, audio clips and messages in an intimate and personal environment, far from the noise and clutter of other social media. Swedish death metallers AMON AMARTH will celebrate their 20th anniversary with five special shows which will take place this August in Germany, Poland and Holland.
The band states, "We will perform two whole sets containing songs from our entire career and we will also arrange a meet-and-greet on all shows."

AMON AMARTH to tour the UK and Ireland in March of 2012!
AMON AMARTH have announced a six-date tour of the UK and Ireland including English, Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish dates along with confirmation of a Hammerfest appearance.
Unfortunately time restrictions meant AMON AMARTH couldn't bring their ongoing tour with As I Lay Dying and Septic Flesh, which just stopped off recently in London to all corners of the UK but the band haven't forgotten their fans and wanted to get back to the North, South, East and West.
Frontman Johan Hegg comments: "We're excited to be coming back to the UK and Ireland with a proper headlining show. We've been looking forward to this since our support tour (with Children Of Bodom) in April, and it feels great that it is finally happening!"
GRAND MAGUS will join them on all dates except Hammerfest.

Starting today, fans can check out the new AMON AMARTH music video for the track Destroyer of the Universe off the band’s latest release Surtur Rising. The live video, which is premiering exclusively on BlankTV, was shot on the band’s May 6th stop in Philadelphia, PA at the Theatre Of Living Arts by director David Brodsky of MyGoodEye (The Black Dahlia Murder, The Devin Townsend Project, Suicide Silence, Municipal Waste, Whitechapel, etc).
“This time around we wanted to catch the energy and atmosphere of a live show, so we simply went for a live video. We look forward to get back to North America in August to continue and fulfill the ‘Evening’ tour, meanwhile enjoy the video”, comments guitarist Olavi Mikkonen.

Swedish Viking Death Metal Kings AMON AMARTH receive worldwide acclaim by fans for their brand new album Surtur Rising!
Surtur Rising, the latest studio album from Swedish death metal tyrants, AMON AMARTH sold approximately 15,000 copies in the United States in its first week landing the band the #34 on the Billboard Top 200, #6 on the Billboard Top Independent Album, #1 on the Billboard Top Hard Music Albums and #10 on the Indy/Small Chain Core Store Chart.
In Germany, Surtur Rising sold over 14,000 units, entered the Top 100 Chart at #8 and is in the official Media Mark charts at #14 in its second week (# 8 in the first week).

Johan Hegg talks to Metal Blade TV about the concepts behind the band's upcoming Surtur Rising full-length!
Today Decible Magazine's mighty Deciblog premieres Slaves Of Fear, the fourth track off AMON AMARTH's eagerly anticipated new full-length Surtur Rising. Scheduled for European release via Metal Blade on March 25/28, 2011, the record marks the eighth studio offering from the kings of epic, melodic death metal.
Slaves Of Fear is song number 4 on the album and it's not the all-typical AMON AMARTH song. "It was one of the last songs we finished for the album and I think it adds some diversity by being a bit different", comments drummer Fredrik Andersson. "What makes this song a little bit different I think is the collaboration between me and Olavi as song writers, usually most songs are written by Olavi/Johan S. It's definitely one of the darkest songs we've ever written and the main/intro riff is my personal tribute to the passing of Ronnie James Dio as the riff came to me after listening to "Holy Diver". Lyrically it's about how religions keeps people under its control and keeps people from thinking for themselves. One of the most angry lyrics Johan has written and they kind of reminds me of "The sound of eight hooves" in a way. It works exceptionally well with the melancholic feel of the riffs."

Swedish Viking Death Metal Kings AMON AMARTH have posted an update about what's going on in the band camp.
"The last couple of months we have been busy working on our follow up to "Twilight of the Thunder God". Ten songs were written and on October 1 we started tracking drums for the album in Park Studios.
After a short trip to Tokyo, which included our first ever show in Japan at the renowned LOUD PARK festival, we continued tracking bass and guitars at Fascination Street studios. Recordings have been going well and we are now more than half-way through and the album starts to take shape.
We'll keep you updated with more info soon!

Swedish Viking Death Metal Gods AMON AMARTH have come to an end of their touring cycle for their last album 'Twilight Of The Thunder God'. Read the update from the band.
"We have come to an end. After almost two years of touring we have now reached the twilight of the thunder god. Ruisrock in Turku, Finland officially marked the very last show in support for our latest album. We're still doing a few selected off shows though. We'll be making our very first appearance in Japan at Loud Park Festival in October. And early next year we'll be performing on the high seas at 70,000 Tons of Metal.
We've had an amazing time on the road supporting this album. Got to tour with many great bands and met loads of awesome people. There have been highs and lows. Highlights include our first tour in South America, performing in Beijing, Taiwan and India, and fulfilled a long time dream by sharing the stage with the almighty Slayer.
We want to thank our loyal friends and fans for the support. Thanks to our crew who has been putting up with us for so long. Thanks to our management and label for covering our backs and everyone else who have been involved in some way, big or small, in bringing us to the far reaches of the world.
We've taken the first steps towards the new album but there is much to do. We'll try to keep you updated on the things going on in the Amon camp as we lock ourselves away to write this new album. Stay tuned."

AMON AMARTH will release Versus The World as the fourth and last album in this years re-issue series November, 9th!
The re-issue comes in a lavish Double-digipak with an individual three-dimensional fold-out pop-up. All four digipak reissues add up to one big picture when put together. CD 1 includes the remastered Versus The World album. CD 2 bears the same tracklist as CD 1, recorded live at the band's December 31, 2008 show as part of the ‘Bloodshed over Bochum’ concert series. Add to this a 16-page booklet with interesting liner notes.

AMON AMARTH to embark on a Scandinavian and UK tour this Friday!
Mighty Viking Death Metal Kings AMON AMARTH will embark on a Scandinavian tour this week Friday. The tour will kick off in Helsinki, Finland and is going to end in their hometown Stockholm, Sweden on the 17th of October.
Only four days off the road, AMON AMARTH will head over to Great Britain and Ireland for another ten shows. Support on both tours comes from Entombed and Evile!

'The Crusher' will be released again as a double-popup-digipak featuring two discs. Disc one features the entire 'The Crusher' album remastered by Jens Bogren plus the bonus track 'The Eyes Of Horror' which is a cover song by the mighty Possessed!
Disc two features the live recording of the show AMON AMARTH played on December 30, 2008 in Bochum, Germany, where they played the album in its entirety. AMON AMARTH pick up Metal Hammer 'Golden Gods' award!
[18/06/09] AMON AMARTH appeared at Metal Hammer’s Golden Gods 2009 awards this week at the 02 in London, playing a blistering 15 minute set alongside Saxon, Trivium, DevilDriver and Anvil.
Soon afterwards they walked away with an award for BEST BREAKTHROUGH ACT. Made all the more sweeter as this Golden God is one of the awards voted for by fans and readers of Metal Hammer UK.
Here's what AMON AMARTH themselves have to say: "This came as a total surprise to us! We are honored that we have such a strong support base and we’d like to thank all you metal heads that voted for us. The second album in the discography of AMON AMARTH is 'The Avenger', and the 2-disc-deluxe re-issue is set for release in Europe on May 22/25!
'The Avenger' will be released again as a double-popup-digipak featuring two discs. Disc one features the entire 'The Avenger' album remastered plus the bonus track 'Thor Arise'!
Disc two features the live recording of the show AMON AMARTH played on December 29, 2008 in Bochum, Germany where they played the album in its entirety.
