GOD DETHRONED recap 2011 and look forward to the last four shows in the band's history!
Just four more shows and that's it for GOD DETHRONED. Guitarist Danny Tunker gives us a look inside the heart and soul of GOD DETHRONED!
“God Dethroned, the final year. 2011. When the decision was made to do it this way Michiel, Henk and I supported Henri's decision, of course, but it would be a lie to say we were happy about it. His reasons for doing it are -of course- his own and he looks to other horizons after playing with God Dethroned for 20+ years. He is building his own guitars, speakers and amps and going for that with the same intensity as he has played with God Dethroned for all those years.
Originally, we would only do about 4 gigs as a 'farewell tour', though offers came in all the time. We did book some extra shows, one each in Switzerland, Austria, Belgium and one show in Leewarden, Holland. Eindhoven Metal Meeting was going to be the final one (on December, 17th) and we have honored that commitment for all offers that came, safe one, which was just too good to turn down. I'm referring to 70.000 tons of metal of course. Any band would love to play that cruise. Play two shows on a cruise-ship with some of your favorite bands and 2000 fans? Forget it! So December, 17th is going to be the final show for God Dethroned on solid ground. The other 2 shows will be on a ship in the ocean.
The other shows we did this year were Summer Breeze 2011, which was one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had with this band and Motocultor in France the day after. Hanging out with Tyr and Moonsorrow on a nightliner and party? Check. Can't believe that was in August already.
And now, it's November. And we only have 4 more shows to go. The first one on December, 10th in Groningen was added about 2 months ago when the protest from fans that we wouldn't play our unofficial 'hometown' became so overwhelming that we just gave in. It turned into a day full of bands where, as fate would have it, Michiel and I will be pulling double-duty as Prostitute Disfigurement will be playing, too.
Then it's Eindhoven Metal Meeting. Then Christmas, New Year and a cruise. Can't believe this will be the end of it, but it sure has been fun. It probably won't hit me for some time, but once we play the final notes for 'Under The Sign Of The Iron Cross' in Eindhoven and somewhere on the Atlantic, it probably will.

Darkness In The Light, the latest studio album from Massachusetts metal heavyweights, UNEARTH, landed at #72 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, #14 on the Billboard Top Independent Album chart, and #7 on the Billboard Top Hard Music Albums chart. In addition, Darkness In The Light came in at #42 on Canada's Top 200 chart, #5 on the Hard chart and #44 on the Digital Albums chart.
Chart entries don't stop here though; Darkness In The Light hit the official German Album charts coming in at position #99 and also entered the Media Markt/Saturn charts in Germany coming in at position #68!

CATARACT going on hibernation! Last show for 2011/2012 at Abart, Zurich!
Swiss CATARACT will go on a hiatus in 2012. Read the full statement by the band:
"In the dark corners of Zurich, rumour is rife that CATARACT will be playing their last show this December, last show? Ever? I mean, ever ever? Of course not. The Swiss powerhouse of metal, loud, hard and merciless, doesn't even think about turning around and moving on to a normal life. There's too much truth to be said, too many stages that need to be rocked and too many pits that need to mosh! The grain of truth in this rumour is that CATARACT will go into an extended hibernation, as lead singer Fedi is leaving for a long planned and desired world trip for the whole of 2012.
Plans not only include the rest of the boys kicking back and enjoying some time off themselves, but also writing new tracks to be recorded and released as soon as Fedi has returned in early 2013. The metal machinery will be working again and steamroll all over Europe!"
"However, before the activities are frozen and the guitars given some much owed time to rest, CATARACT are honoured to play their final show for 2011/2012 at the legendary Abart club, which is due to close its doors next year. They will be supported by Lucerne's Silent Slander and Zurich's Beyond The Vortex, along with some other guests. German Thrash legends EXUMER sign to Metal Blade Records!
"Fire and Damnation" announced as title for brand new album to be released in spring 2012!
The deal is done! Legendary German Thrashers EXUMER have signed a worldwide recording deal with Metal Blade Records!
Comments singer Mem V. We tried to do everything "right", with this album, from writing the new material to working with Waldemar Sorychta as our producer. EXUMER just completed recording their first new album in 24 years with renowned producer Waldemar Sorychta (Grip Inc., Therion, Sodom, Moonspell, etc.) at the helm. The 10-track strong, hard-hitting CD Fire and Damnation combines a punishing production with aggressive song writing. EXUMER manages to capture the intensity and feel of the 1980s thrash metal gems and yet sound up to date on their latest output.

Formed in 1985, by singer/bassist Mem V. Stein and guitarist Ray Mensh, EXUMER went on to release two albums in 1986 (Possessed by Fire), and 1987 (Rising from the Sea), that are regarded as some of the most cult thrash metal releases ever to come out of Germany. EXUMER was also one of the first thrash metal acts to capture exotic, foreign markets like Poland and Brazil, where their albums were domestically released in the 1980s. The subsequent tours that followed those releases secured the band live shows in front of thousands of fans and an unusually large following outside of Germany.
Plagued by line-up changes and internal turmoil the band broke up in 1990, and did not perform live, with the exception in 2001 at the prestigious Wacken Open Air Festival, until 2009.
Mem and Ray decided to re-activate EXUMER in 2008, and the band embarked on their first tour since 1988, where they played 5 shows in April/May of 2009. The "5 Nights of Fire Tour", took the band through Europe (Germany, Holland, Greece), and the USA, where they headlined the "Thrasho de Mayo Festival", in front of 1300 fans in Los Angeles.
EXUMER returned to Europe in spring and the fall of 2010, where the band appeared at Norway's "Inferno Festival", among other stops in Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Poland and Bulgaria during their "European Ignition Tour Part I and II".
Watch out for Fire and Damnation to be released in the spring of 2012, and the subsequent live assaults to follow!

Swedish Heavy Metal tyrants RAM make a return with their third album Death, to be released January, 27th/30th, 2012 via Metal Blade Records in Europe!

Comments RAM: "Filming the video for Flame of the tyrants was a very cool and almost surreal experience, we filmed it in an abandoned sandquarell outside of Gothenburg. We wanted that Mad Max II feeling to it and I think we accomplished that. We had a great time on set and on behalf of RAM I would like to thank the Mad Ram gangers and everybody involved for making our vision come to life in such a brilliant manner!"
In other news Metal Blade Records announces that there will be a limited first edition of the European CD that will include a bonus-DVD. The limited first edition will be sold as a regular CD, so make sure to pre-order while copies last!

RAM was created back in '99 and released their first E.P Sudden Impact in 2003. After playing numerous festivals and a support tour for Sebastian Bach they released their first long player Forced Entry in late 2005 which brought the entire old school Heavy Metal community to its knees. RAM hit the road with Dark Tranquillity, did some Scandinavian shows with Gamma Ray and played gigs and festivals all over Europe.
In 2008 the band returned to the studio with producer Johan Reivén to record the album Lightbringer which was released in 2009 via AFM Records. This time they really took the time to explore the true heavy metal sound. The recording of the album took 10 months of nothing but strife for pure Heavy Metal perfection. RAM also headed out on a headline European tour to promote the album.
In 2011 RAM went back into the studio to record their third album Death. This time they worked with producers Per Stålberg and Olle Björk to create their best album to date by far. Live shows as support for Swedish extreme black metal band Watain followed as well as destroying some festivals.
The world trembles in fear before the release of the metal behemoth that is Death. RAM are back! Necks will be broken!

Metal Blade Europe to release classic YOB albums on vinyl!
For the first time ever the classic two YOB albums The Illusion Of Motion and The Unreal Never Lived will be released on LP!
Originally released in 2004 and 2005 only on CD, it´s the first time these monuments of doom are pressed on vinyl.
Both limited vinyls will be released January 13th/16th via Metal Blade Records in Europe!
Both titles will be released as double gatefold LPs. The Unreal Never Lived will include the bonus track Essence while The Illusion Of Motion will have an etching on side D!
