WHITECHAPEL drummer Kevin Lane comments on his recent departure!
Recently Knoxville, TN's WHITECHAPEL and drummer Kevin Lane mutually decided to go their own ways and the internet is already abuzz with rumors as to the reasons behind the split. Kevin offered the following statement to answer fans questions as to why the drummer and the band parted ways:

"Over the past years I've had the experience of a lifetime and gotten to travel the world with not only a great band of musicians but some of my best friends. Unfortunately that time has come to an end. My playing had a falling out over the past year, thus I've decided to come home for good and go back to school full time. The past few tours I had the privilege of my good friend Gavin Parsons to fill my shoes and now another phenomenal drummer who I believe will do leaps and bounds of improvement to the band as a whole, Ben Harclerode has moved into the position until the decision for a full time drummer has been made. Thank you to everyone for all of your support."

Founding member and guitarist Alex Wade adds: "It's sad to see Kevin go, he was not just a fellow band member, but like a brother to all of us. I think it is honorable of him to step down to better the band. He is still and always will be an amazing drummer and talented musician; I believe it is just time for a new chapter for Whitechapel. That being said we would like to welcome Ben Harclerode (formerly of Knights of the Abyss) to the band to fill the drumming position. In my opinion he is one of the most solid and talented drummers in modern metal and we couldn't be more excited for him to be playing with us. Ben will be helping us out until we take further measures to decide on a permanent drummer, but that is just something that is not needed right now, nor are we taking submissions. Come welcome Ben on our upcoming headliner and watch him shred his kit!"

WHITECHAPEL will return to European stages in April of this year!

A New Era of Corruption, which was produced by Jason Suecof (The Black Dahlia Murder, Job For A Cowboy) and features guest appearances by Deftones' Chino Moreno and Vincent of The Acacia Strain, showcases a group who are imposingly focused and determined to write the heaviest, most intense and dynamic music possible. "We didn't want to put out 'This Is Exile: Part Two', and this is definitely a real progression from that record – but, at the same time we wanted it to sound like Whitechapel," Wade asserts. "Having played with bands like Slayer and Cannibal Corpse, you realize that one of the reasons they've been around so long is because they've created a certain sound and they've stuck to that. Fans want to hear their favorite band sounding like their favorite band, and while we'll always grow, that's something I think we'll strive for on every record from now on."

Bozeman expands on this, stating that "The first two records are just riff after riff after riff, but this time we have more of a verse-chorus approach, and I think that makes the songs more memorable. Everything is still just as brutal and just as intense, it's just a little more structured, and that makes for better songs." And as the band has progressed sonically, so have Bozeman's lyrics, who this time has jettisoned a concept-based approach but remains just as focused, unleashing a surge of apocalyptic wrath as he covers issues such as the devolution of society into violent, hateful human beings ("Devolver"), the increasing corruption and violence of the post 9/11 world ("Breeding Violence"), and the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of his own mother ("Murder Sermon").

Primed to take A New Era of Corruption to hungry audiences around the globe, WHITECHAPEL are continually proving themselves an indomitable force, and their fan base is primed to grow and grow as more people are exposed to their unique brand of sonic violence. Prepare to be corrupted.

We played it live during our overseas touring at the beginning of this year in Australia and the UK and were getting a great response from the crowd for it. WHITECHAPEL enters Audiohammer Studios to record follow up to ‘This is Exile’!
Just home from touring with Trivium and Chimaira and closing out an extremely busy and successful year, Tennessee’s WHITECHAPEL are now set to head into the studio December 27th to January 31st with infamous metal producer Jason Suecof (Trivium, All That Remains, The Black Dahlia Murder, Chimaira, DevilDriver and many more).

WHITECHAPEL are set to record the follow up to the band’s crushing Metal Blade debut, This is Exile, at Jason’s Orlando, FL based Audiohammer Studios. Be sure to stay tuned to WHITECHAPEL’s and Metal Blade’s sites as more information regarding guest vocalists, studio updates, and video updates will be posted throughout the band’s recording process.

Guitarist and founding member Alex Wade comments: "We're really excited to announce that we will be hitting the studio in January with a producer who needs no introduction, Jason Suecof. Suecof has produced some of the most brutal metal albums to date and we are excited for him to get his hands on our new material to make it the heaviest music we've created thus far.

Also, Dusty Peterson has been signed on to handle the artwork duties. His dark, yet meticulously detailed style of hand drawn artwork is sure to bring out a truly vivid and brutal masterpiece. We really wanted our artwork for the record to speak as loudly for us as the music we are creating, thus, Dusty was picked for his unbelievably realistic and detailed hand drawn style. In this day and age where downloading a CD is as easy as typing the CD's name into a search bar, we wanted to make the artwork something creative and special for the fans who actually purchase the CD. Almost like owning a piece of art.

As for the title and tracklisting, you'll just have to wait for that as the CD comes closer to completion."

This is Exile was unleashed on July 8th, 2008, and debuted at #118 on the Billboard top 200 charts, #2 on Billboard’s Top Heatseekers, and #14 on Billboard’s Top Independent albums. An accomplishment that is impressive for veteran artists, much less a relatively brand new metal act.

“We're very excited about the first week’s numbers and the success of ‘This Is Exile’. We're very grateful to have the best fans out there backing us and supporting us by buying the record. We couldn't have asked for a better team pushing us with the combination of the great people at Metal Blade Records, our manager Shawn at The Artery Foundation, our agent Matt Pike at The Kenmore Agency, and our producers for the album Jonny Fay and Zeuss. Without those driving forces we would be nothing”, comments WHITECHAPEL.
