THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER: changing of the guard! TBDM comments on their new bassist!
Singer Trevor Strnad: "Well kids, enough with all the secrets… it's about time we in The Black Dahlia Murder clue you fans in and tell all about our recent hush hush bassist situation… I'm sure some of you who have seen us on tour in the last months have grown curious as to who this mystery man bass extraordinaire could be and have wondered what long time bassist Ryan "Bart" Williams could be up to. After months of tip-toeing around it, we've decided to break the silence and let you guys know the truth.
After six long, grueling years of relentless back-to-back touring, Ryan Williams has decided to step down from his full time position in The Black Dahlia Murder to pursue a career in recording (please stop and check out his new gig here). Although the remaining members are indeed saddened by his decision, the good news is that Ryan will still be involved in the band in many ways, from continued contributions of songwriting (Ryan wrote those sick Robocop riffs in "Malenchantments Of The Necrosphere", amongst several others, mind you) to overseeing and co-producing future BDM recordings. As you will clearly see by the statements of all parties involved, the change is completely amicable, and the love and brotherhood we've shared with Ryan over the years remains untarnished. We wish him the absolute best of luck with Augmented Audio and all of his future endeavors.
Max Lavelle was literally the first idea of a replacement for Ryan, we had toured alongside him when he was playing with Despised Icon a few different times and had the chance to become pretty good friends with the guy as well as be allowed the chance to see him perform live many times. Max is a diehard metal head, a great bassist, a monstrous live presence and a welcome shot of energy into the bloodstream of this band. His enthusiasm for forwarding the whole is inspiring and exactly what we need at this point in time."
Check out the following video HERE for comments from Ryan "Bart" Williams and Max Lavelle!

THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER's long-awaited video for Moonlight Equilibrium is now live on BloodyDisgusting.com, your #1 source for horror! The video is a David Brodsky-directed nod to old-school horror films with a much more graphic approach. The video's content aptly fits the lycanthropic lyric concept set against a bawdy Victorian back drop. The result: a chilling and entertaining slice of mini-horror that metal fans and horror-enthusiasts will enjoy. Watch Moonlight Equilibrium HERE.

THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER: AltPress.com premiere new single Malenchanments of the Necrosphere off the upcoming album "Ritual" now!
The face-melting Detroit quintet, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER (TBDM), has just released the final single from Ritual, the band’s fifth full-length album hitting streets June 21st in North America and June 17/20 in Europe. Hosting the exclusive worldwide premiere of the track Malenchanments of the Necrosphere is none other than Alternative Press Magazine. Check out the track HERE and be sure to leave a comment and spread the word.
Vocalist Trevor Strnad comments: "This stomper of a track is about a man who has been trapped in a body of stone, a golem, so to speak. He is driven insane by his bondage, and begins a violent rampage against human kind in search of the druids who condemned him. This song is one of the heaviest on the album, the main riff reminds me of Robocop marching along. Pump your fists!"

Hosting the exclusive worldwide premiere of the track Conspiring with the Damned is none other than Lambgoat.com.
Check out the track HERE and be sure to leave a comment and spread the word.
Vocalist Trevor Strnad comments; “It brings us great pleasure to reveal another track from our latest endeavor, Ritual! Conspiring with the Damned is a quick melodic track about bringing a curse into your life by messing with an Ouija board. The lyrics were informed by a series of stories told to me by a friend who claims to have been tormented and robbed of his innocence at a very young age by a demonic force he had been in contact with. This is one of my favorite tracks from the album, and I think it embodies the horrific vibe of Ritual perfectly. Bang your heads!”

THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER artwork and single for new full-length album 'Ritual' released
Premiere of first single 'Moonlight Equilibrium' and amp; pre-order packages now live!
Detroit deathsters The Black Dahlia Murder (TBDM) are pleased to unleash details of the group's 5th full-length album, Ritual (out June 17/20, 2011), a collection of 12 tracks that see the band staying true to their sound and style while progressing in both writing and musicianship. Guitarist Ryan Knight has delivered truly searing leads that will without a doubt daze and lay waste the ears of both loyal Black Dahlia diehards and burgeoning fans alike. Music for Ritual was recorded in early 2011 in Detroit, MI with Mark Lewis (Deicide, Unearth) and the band producing with vocals and mixing taking place at Orlando, Florida based studio, Audio Hammer with Jason Suecof (BDM, Beneath the Massacre, Job for a Cowboy, All That Remains). The first single off Ritual, Moonlight Equilibrium, is now live at the following location along with several pre-order options: MetalBlade.com/BDM
Guitarist and founding member Brian Eschbach comments on the first single Moonlight Equilibrium: "We've been working on this album for a good while and we are very excited to finally share a preview with our fans! Moonlight Equilibrium is full of maximum overdrive melody and crushing beats that'll hopefully leave you maniacs thirsting for more. We'll be jamming this and other tasty treats for the next several months on the road. See you soon!"
Vocalist Trevor Strnad comments on the extraordinary artwork; "The visual aspects of Ritual have been brilliantly brought to life by the amazingly talented Valnoir Mortsonge (Watain/Morbid Angel/Ulver) for Metastazis in Paris, France. Valnoir was the perfect man for the job; he exceeded our expectations on all fronts and delivered a beautiful package that enriches the macabre ceremonial vibe of our musical creations. The goal was to make the artwork look like a Necronomicon or an evil spell book. The imagery on the front depicts the dualistic nature of the satanic ritual, the two halves that make it possible. On the bottom, inverted, are the senders of the ritual here on earth, in prayer. On top is Satan and his council, receiving the communicative ritual."
In terms of the direction of Ritual vocalist Trevor Strnad notes; "This is the first time we have fully realized a concept for an album. We wanted to choose something that would exemplify the very essence of the band, something that would be 'more TBDM' than anything we have released to this point. All of the lyrics to Ritual are bound by a common thread of black magick and the occult, the worship of darkness, and the preservation of inner strength and will."
"When we play a show, it's like a ritual, a group catharsis. We are unified with our fans through the platform of live performance. There is a real magic there. Like the album cover represents, there are two halves required; us and you. Yes, we are an evil band. Yes we sing about Satan. But really, how I see it, our evil is for your own good! The character Satan in our music represents the freedom to think for yourself… the strength to see through the facades of the norm that is presented to us at birth, and the courage to live your own way, free of the burden of guilt and shame. That's how it's always been for us and this record is no different."
Strnad continues; "I think Ritual is us fully realizing our responsibility to our fans to be the best (and most horrific) The Black Dahlia Murder we can while we're here. In a way, you could say we have come to terms, more now so than ever, with how religious the fans are about this band, hence the album's name. This is absolutely our best record and the new benchmark that we are soon to be measured by, I have no problem saying that. There has been no prouder moment for me in this band than the Ritual we offer before you. We worked harder on this and for longer than we ever have on any release until this point. Our blood is in the ink of this album, our souls in every note. That being said, if you were to steal this record, it would literally break my fat fucking heart. I know that times are tough, hell, it's legitimately getting harder and harder to physically get these albums into your hands. I fully realize that. Every metal band (and fan) has fallen victim to these hard times. We are here to help get the music to you, no matter where you are or how scarce extreme metal may be there. It's time to stand up and circumvent the obstacles that threaten to befall metal, just because these assholes have made it harder to find doesn't mean we should just pull the plug, puss out and stop supporting it. Just because we can't walk down the street to SuperMegastore anymore and buy a Cannibal Corpse CD we've turned to stealing it all from the internet. Weak! One of the awesome powers of the internet is that it can allow these kick ass preorder packages to be available to the fans. That's why we went to such extreme lengths to bring such a lush packaging to the masses, one last attempt at trying to lure you to go against the grain and actually invest your hard earned money in the CD. If you really want to have an impact on the fate of this band, that is the truest and clearest way that I can tell you how to do so. We need your support. It's not for our pocketbooks, it's so we can exist in this cut-throat music business. I'm not encouraging you to just buy this album, either. This is bigger than that. I am encouraging you to support all metal bands that you like and buy their albums, we need you now more than ever."
Ritual will be hitting streets in Europe on June 17/20 as a regular jewelcase cd and as a limited, very elaborate boxset. The band will be on tour in Europe prior and after the release of their new record.

About the band:
The often imitated yet never duplicated Detroit deathsters The Black Dahlia Murder (TBDM) are back with their 5th full-length album, the death metal opus Ritual, out June 17/20th 2011. TBDM's previous release Deflorate saw the band enter the Billboard Top 200 charts at the #43 position while also hitting #5 on the Top Independent Albums chart, #4 on the Hard Music Albums chart, and #50 on the HITS Top 50 Albums chart. Deflorate also hit charts in Canada coming in at #52 on the Top 200 chart, #3 on the Top Independent Albums chart, and #6 on the Top Hard Music Albums chart. Deflorate boasted Black Dahlia's brand of seamlessly-mixed Swedish influenced blackened thrash and pounding American death metal muscle, and saw one of metal's most outstanding underground outfits at the forefront of unmitigated musical brutality.
In May of 2009, The Black Dahlia Murder released their firstDVD Majesty; a two-disc collection featuring the band's assembled music videos, reams engrossing live footage, and a two-hour documentary on the band. Majesty debuted on the Billboard Top Music Video Charts at #2 in the US and #5 in Canada, and remained on the charts for its first six weeks on the shelf—a triumph for any metal band, much less one as uncompromising as TBDM.
Since the release of the group's debut full-length Unhallowed, the Black Dahlia death machine has continued to ascend through the ranks of the extreme music scene, perfecting its craft and dominating the world over with relentless touring. In 2009, TBDM was one of the featured bands on the Hot Topic stage at The Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival alongside label-mates Cannibal Corpse, Behemoth, Job for a Cowboy, and Whitechapel marking one of the fests heaviest runs yet.The band headlined the 2008 Summer Slaughter tour alongside death metal heavyweights including Vader, Cryptopsy, Aborted, Kataklysm, and Psycroptic; soon after, they toured the US with Children of Bodom and Between the Buried and Me. TBDM has also toured as a part of Ozzfest, Sounds of the Underground, in addition to countless headline and support runs taking the band across the US, Canada, Europe, South America, Mexico, Australia, and New Zealand touring with everyone from Cannibal Corpse to As I Lay Dying, Terror to Hate Eternal, and Unearth to Decrepit Birth. One thing TBDM has shown the world is that their brand of unrelenting melodic death metal transcends all of the different metal scenes. Bringing fans of everything from death metal to hardcore together to have a good time and throw their fists in the air all in the name of heavy and uncompromising music.

Head over to Revolver Magazine to check out the exclusive premier of THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER's brand new album Deflorate, streaming in its entirety starting this Friday. Vocalist Trevor Strnad comments; “Without further adieu, we, the five proud fathers of THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER in cooperation with Revolver Magazine bring you a sneak peek at our new Metal Blade album, Deflorate! This stream should tide you ravenous freaks over until you can go out and buy the album! Crank it up fucking loud and keep supporting the extreme!”
You can also surf over to Revolver Magazine to check out the exclusive premier of THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER’s first video from Deflorate for the track Necropolis, which was filmed by Robbie Tassaro (director of the band’s DVD Majesty).
Deflorate, the follow up to the band’s 2007 release Nocturnal, will be released on September 11th / 14th 2009 all over Europe!
Vocalist Trevor Strnad comments; “We are excited to bring you the debut of our new video ‘Necropolis’ by way of the kind folks at Revolver magazine. We filmed this one at the Garden Bowl in Detroit Michigan early in the morning…we want to thank everyone that was involved for getting drunk at 10am. Bear witness to the horror of 1,000 gutter balls! PARTY ON, WAYNE!”
Deflorate was produced by THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, Mark Lewis (Deicide) and Jason Suecof (Beneath The Massacre, Job For A Cowboy) with mixing duties handled by Suecof. Deflorate is multifaceted death trip: beautiful, evil, and morbidly addicting. The Black Dahlia Murder’s fourth thrashing epic sees no punch pulled, no gravestone unturned, no soul uncorrupted. Guard your precious innocence all you like, it will do you no good - Deflorate is here.
THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER will be headlining the Bonecrusher Fest tour (http://www.myspace.com/bonecrusherfest) in January of 2010!

THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER to headline BONECRUSHER FEST TOUR in early 2010!
[03/09/09] Having garnered much attention and praise for the popular NEVER SAY DIE! Club tour, Avocado Booking has helped bring the best and brightest acts of the hardcore, metal, and punk realms to audiences all over Europe. Now they’re flexing their muscles in both extreme, chest-pounding metal with a stellar package tour dubbed: BONECRUSHER FEST!
The bill is comprised of:
THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER
3 INCHES OF BLOOD
NECROPHOBIC
OBSCURA (rotating slot)
THE FACELESS (rotating slot)
CARNIFEX (rotating slot)
INGESTED
Acts from all over the World with brutal metal as their common thread.
Armed with new album Deflorate on Metal Blade Records, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER require no introduction. The five-piece have several albums under their belt and have helped elevate death metal to the masses in part to their relentless worldwide touring. 3 INCHES OF BLOOD have help represent a more thrashy, old-school metal style complete with a new record on Century Media Records, bang your head and raise the horns! The veterans of the tour are undoubtedly Sweden’s NECROPHOBIC, who have been devastating since 1989 and still going strong – complete with a newly released album on Regain Records showcasing their unique mixture of black metal and death metal. Following the path of death metal giants such as Cynic, Nile and Cannibal Corpse, THE FACELESS take no prisoners by converting their formula of brutal metallic rage combined with outstanding technique and spacey hooks. Bringing more metal veterans onto the bill is Relapse Record’s OBSCURA. With members playing previously in Necrophagist, Spawn Of Possession and Pestilence their pedigree of death metal is through the roof with technical deathmetal heaviness. CARNIFEX haven’t let their relative newness in the metal scene stop from them from touring relentlessly around the globe in support of their Victory Records debut. Don’t miss this bludgeoning act in their element: the live setting. Opening up the tour is INGESTED. Hailing from the UK, these guys dish out slamming deathmetal packed with blastbeats to spare, don’t miss this act whose debut album has earned high praise from all over.
THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER's singer Trevor Strnad has this to say: "We are very excited to be the drunken hosts of the Bonecrusher tour. In cooperation with the wonderful Avocado, we have assembled quite a brutal line up for all tastes of the extreme. We are to be joined in this merciless campaign by our bearded brethren in 3 Inches Of Blood, personal favorites Necrophobic, Carnifex, Obscura, The Faceless and one of the UK's finest, Ingested. You'd be a fool to miss such a killer line up! Come out to the show and leave in an urn... bones crushed!!!"
