BIO | INTERVIEW
2007 - Jeramie Kling about 'Riders Of The Plague'
Hey! Your new album ‘Riders Of The Plague’ is soon to be released. What can the fans expect?
Get ready for the end of the earth!
Where are the differences to your last album ‘From Your Grave’?
This album is darker, heavier and faster. The production on this album is stellar.
What happened in THE ABSENCE camp in the past two years after the release of your debut album?
Touring, touring, touring, writing, writing, writing…
It’s pretty untypical for a US band to book an European producer. Why did you choose Jonas Kjellgren (SCAR SYMMETRY, CARNAL FORGE)?
Because of his outstanding work. Also, his knowledge in engineering. We wanted to step outside the box and do something that was NOT typical for a U.S. band.
Is this the reason why your new album sounds more European than the last one?
I would say that it has a heavy hand in it.
You covered TESTAMENT’s ‘Into The Pit’. Why did you choose this song?
This song is a thrash anthem. We wanted to do a cover and this was the only cover that felt right
How would you describe THE ABSENCE to people who have never heard of you before?
www.theabsence.com! Enough said!
