[22/07/09] London based Australian Black/Thrash commando RAZOR OF OCCAM has confirmed to tour Europe in the fall with the Grandmasters of American Black Metal Absu! Nachtmystium and Zoroaster complete the vicious line-up absolute to rape and pillage clubs all over Europe from October, 16th on.

Singer/guitarist Matt explains the lyrical concept of 'Homage To Martyrs': "It is not a concept album as such in that each song is independent but the overall theme remains that of our previously releases, namely the conflict between science and religion. The first side deals primarily with the threat of superstition, the second with the success of science.
"The former is epitomised by portrayal of the viral theory of religion, which views the spread of religion as a result of indoctrination during childhood, taking advantage of the evolved trait dictating we accept the authority of adults during this fragile stage of development. The theory is championed by the renowned zoologist Richard Dawkins who has spearheaded the fight against religion in response partly to the attack on his own field of science by creationists and partly to the attack on the world trade centre by religous fundamentalists. Other notable intellectuals whose works have been a source of inspiration in this regard include Christopher Hitchens, Sam Harris, Carl Sagan and Peter Atkins.
"The second side touches on a diverse range of topics including molecular biology, evolutionary psychology, quantum mechanics, cosmology and thermodynamics. Among the many popularises of science providing inspiration are Jared Diamond, Michio Kaku, Matt Ridley and Paul Davies. The goal is to instil a sense of the numinous in the reader. Our attempt surely fails to do justice to the majesty inherent in the order of nature, the awe of which overwhelms any that can be mustered by mere unreasoned superstition, pale and impoverished as it is in comparison to the revelations of science."

'Homage To Martyrs' was recorded at Necromorbus studios Sweden (Watain, Aversa Sefira, Mörk Gryning) and produced by Tore Stjerna.
What you get to hear on 'Homage To Martyrs' is the perfect amalgamation of raw Black Metal and the thrashing mania of Slayer's 'Reign In Blood'. As raw, relentless and intense as it can get! Merciless sharp riffing and pure brutality from the darkest vaults of down under. You will hardly find any band out there that is sounding more Metal than RAZOR OF OCCAM!
