2007 - Chris about 'Our Puzzling Encounters Considered'

Hey there, could you please introduce PSYOPUS to the readers of www.metalblade.de?
Well… PSYOPUS has been termed as an avante grinde/mathcore band from Rochester, New York. We are Christopher Arp on guitar, Fred Decoste on bass, Jon Cole on drums and Adam Frappolli as vocalist.

“Our Puzzling Encounters Considered” is just about to be released! How does it feel?
Relieving! We have not only worked hard on this album and are anxious to see what the metal community has to say about it. Let alone it was completed in July 2006 and it is about time. Due to communicative incompetence on part of the original artist assigned to the project this album has been dragged well over a fair amount of time. The time feels long over due and we are excited we can finally push our work.

How would you describe your music to people that have never heard of you before?
All over the place spastic and creative. The music takes a number of listens before one can get down what exactly the band is aiming for. Don't judge these tunes on your first experience. The music is fast and challenging and hopefully very refreshing to those metal audiences who are eager to hear something new.

What are you personal musical favourites and what are the main influences for the music of PSYOPUS?
Mine personally, . . . grew up loving ”Rust In Peace”- and “Peace Sells…”-era of MEGADETH. I loved PANTERA and MR BUNGLE. Bands like LETHARGY and KALIBAS were defintitely our biggest influence as far as directing an idea of what music should be.

Will you be touring Europe to support your new album?
That would be sweet if we can. Honestly we are just struggling to solidify the bands mechanics here in the US at the time. As soon as we can organize the band enough to pull off a US tour, we will do so. We are eager to share our music with a European audience. I hope they are eager to hear it.

Any last words to say?
We sincerely appreciate all of the support we have recieved from every corner of the music community and we appreciate all of those who take the time to check out what we are about. We hope you enjoy tremendously.
