KING'S X
"Manic Moonlight"
01/10/01
Houston TX based KING'S X has carved a unique rock n' roll niche. Name a band that has successfully married soul, metal and pop, while still retaining a signature sound. Better yet find a band that hasn't named KING'S X as one of their all-time favorite artists, a point recently galvanized by their inclusion on VH1's Top 100 Hard Rock Bands of All Time (a list compiled by musicians). Such compliment might send an ordinary band to the depths of mediocrity. Not KING'S X.

Formed nearly 20 years ago, KING'S X are nothing short of an international phenomenon. Since the release of 1988's "Out of The Silent Planet", the trio built a loyal, diehard, rabid fan base, following the group to the edges of the earth. After seven prolific years producing six studio releases, the band parted ways with Atlantic Records making them free agents for the first time in their career. Once the sharks stopped circling, the guys landed on Metal Blade. Solo projects from Ty and Doug, Ty's Moonflower Lane and Doug's Poundhound hit the shelves immediately before the guys went to work on their Metal blade debut. 1998's Tape Head and it's follow up, 2000's eclectic "Please Come Home...Mr. Bulbous" became critically acclaimed international successes.

The tradition continues...

"Manic Moonlight", the band's 9th studio release, is yet another compelling piece of maximum artistry. While unmistakably KING'S X, the band has shown why they continue to inspire. Still in abundance are the trademark vocal harmonies, intricate arrangements and catchy melodies but additional attention is paid to textures and openness to technology.
