GOD DETHRONED recap 2011 and look forward to the last four shows in the band's history!
Just four more shows and that's it for GOD DETHRONED. Guitarist Danny Tunker gives us a look inside the heart and soul of GOD DETHRONED!
“God Dethroned, the final year. 2011. When the decision was made to do it this way Michiel, Henk and I supported Henri's decision, of course, but it would be a lie to say we were happy about it. His reasons for doing it are -of course- his own and he looks to other horizons after playing with God Dethroned for 20+ years. He is building his own guitars, speakers and amps and going for that with the same intensity as he has played with God Dethroned for all those years.
Originally, we would only do about 4 gigs as a 'farewell tour', though offers came in all the time. We did book some extra shows, one each in Switzerland, Austria, Belgium and one show in Leewarden, Holland. Eindhoven Metal Meeting was going to be the final one (on December, 17th) and we have honored that commitment for all offers that came, safe one, which was just too good to turn down. I'm referring to 70.000 tons of metal of course. Any band would love to play that cruise. Play two shows on a cruise-ship with some of your favorite bands and 2000 fans? Forget it! So December, 17th is going to be the final show for God Dethroned on solid ground. The other 2 shows will be on a ship in the ocean.
The other shows we did this year were Summer Breeze 2011, which was one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had with this band and Motocultor in France the day after. Hanging out with Tyr and Moonsorrow on a nightliner and party? Check. Can't believe that was in August already.
And now, it's November. And we only have 4 more shows to go. The first one on December, 10th in Groningen was added about 2 months ago when the protest from fans that we wouldn't play our unofficial 'hometown' became so overwhelming that we just gave in. It turned into a day full of bands where, as fate would have it, Michiel and I will be pulling double-duty as Prostitute Disfigurement will be playing, too.
Then it's Eindhoven Metal Meeting. Then Christmas, New Year and a cruise. Can't believe this will be the end of it, but it sure has been fun. It probably won't hit me for some time, but once we play the final notes for 'Under The Sign Of The Iron Cross' in Eindhoven and somewhere on the Atlantic, it probably will.
Thanks to the fans, bands, bookers and the lovely people at Metal Blade for all the support! Hope you all come out one last time to party with us.”

GOD DETHRONED to play 70.000 Tons of Metal Cruise!
Dutch Death Metallers GOD DETHRONED have been confirmed for the 70.000 Tons of Metal Cruise taking place January 23 – 27, 2012 starting in Miami, Florida.
Comments the band: "We are proud to announce that we have been added to the bill of the 70.000 Tons of Metal cruise 2012. This event now has become a part of our farewell shows and we are pleased that we got this chance to play one last time for our US fans."
GOD DETHRONED announced earlier this year to call it quits after their farewell shows.

Might Dutch Death Metal warriors GOD DETHRONED have announced to call it quits by the end of this year.
Read the statement of GOD DETHRONED mainman Henri Sattler: "For a Nihilist, nothing is at least something. 2011 is GOD DETHRONED´s final year in existence.
We could have spent another year in a tourbus because the amount of offers was endless, but I just don't feel like touring anymore. People told me to take a break for a year or maybe two, but as I'm an "all, or nothing at all" type of person, I decided to call it quits. Not immediately, but in December of this year we will definitely play our last show. That's gonna be at the Eindhoven Metal Meeting in Holland. Comments singer/guitarist Henri Sattler on the title track:"The 1905 Schlieffen Plan made by the Prussian Count von Schlieffen after England signed the previous Entente Cordiale in 1904 with France. The plan was based on a battle between Hannibal and the Roman army in 216 B.C. that was later modified and eventually failed when put into practice. It remains uncertain if the changes to the Schlieffen Plan or the plan itself was the reason for not being successful."

Guitarist/vocalist Henri Sattler posts an official update on GOD DETHRONED's follow up to their highly renowned "Passiondale" album!
"It's studio time again. We've been working hard on a new album lately and just finished songwriting. Our second album with a World War One theme. Mike and Henri will start laying down drum and guitar tracks at Soundlodge Studio's (Germany) with producer Joerg Uken. It's our third time recording there as we have been very pleased with the results of the previous albums.
We would like to thank Ian Jekelis (Abigail Williams) for playing guitar with us on the Killfest tour in the U.S. where we supported Overkill on many great and succesful shows. We also would like to welcome Danny Tunker as our new lead guitarist. Danny already played with us on a few shows and festivals and we decided to give him the chance to show his skills on our new album.

GOD DETHRONED 'Passiondale' out today, live track off bonus CD online!
[24/04/09] Please check out a live version of the song 'The Warcult' on http://www.myspace.com! The song is taken off the bonus live CD that is included in the limited first edition of GOD DETHRONED’s new blasting Death Metal beast 'Passiondale'.
Mainman Henri Sattler goes a bit in-depth about the musical direction of the new masterpiece 'Passiondale': "In contradiction to the previous album 'Passiondale' is a lot more extreme and furious also because of the return of Roel Sanders on drums, but still with the typical melodic parts which make the band sound unique among the competition. Roel played on 'Grand Grimoire' and 'Bloody Blasphemy' as well. Albums that were dominated by blast beats, brutal riffing but also many hymnic parts. It seemed the most logical thing to do, to go back to our early sound, so also Danny Servaes who played keyboards on aforementioned albums participated again and added that touch of mystique which made the songs even more special. The grimness of the war is reflected in the songs and the atmosphere creates a feeling of listening to the soundtrack of a war movie."
'Passiondale' will be released as a double-digipak including a 9-track bonus CD ('Live in 2005'), as a regular jewelcase CD and on vinyl (ltd. to 666 copies)!
