2006 - Sammy Duet about ’A Haunting Curse’
Hey Sammy – how are you shortly before releasing your third opus ‘A Haunting Curse’? And how are your cats? Referring to the bands biography they are really weird little fellas, right?
I am currently on the road right now prior to the release of the new album. I guess I am doing fairly well. My cats are at home being the little demons they are known for. They are doing fine sleeping on top of my equipment that is at home.
Could you explain the album title? There are rumors some strange things happened in advance of the album and the production?
There is not really any explanation to it per say. It was just some lyrics I had written down for the new album and it kind of worked out to be the album title. There are constantly strange things that happen to me constantly so the rumors you have heard a probably very true and very real.
What is different on ‘A Haunting Curse’ compared to the other two records?
It’s not so much that it is different I feel we haven’t really changed that much. I just feel we have evolved more into the sound we have been searching for. Adding to that I find it is a mixture of both the first album and second album but on steroids.
Other rumours say that your band name was chosen because of a stripper that wasn’t that beautiful, right? Tell our readers the whole story please!
We’ll make this short, it was partly influenced by a very unattractive stripper it was also influenced by one of Aliester Crowley’s wives/whores where she was forced to have sex with Goats in certain rituals.
Like your label mates CANNIBAL CORPSE or even CELLADOR before you also worked together with Mr. HATE ETERNAL Erik Rutan – what can be said about working with him?
He is a very tough person but the end result is definitely a positive thing in the studio.
What will happen after releasing ‘A Haunting Curse’? Will you tour and eventually come to Europe?
Yes we will definitely tour the United States a lot and the chances of us getting to European soil are better than ever.
How would you describe GOATWHORE to someone who has never heard anything about the band?
On my signal, unleash hell!
What are your current musical favourites?
HELLSHOCK, XASTHUR, and the regulars, BEHERIT, CELTIC FROST, MORBID ANGEL, etc.
