2006 - Chris Petersen about ‘Enter Deception’
Hey there, could you please introduce CELLADOR to the readers of www.metalblade.de?
Hello everybody, Chris Petersen here from new Metal Blade signee CELLADOR. We are a 5 piece melodic Euro-style speed/power metal band from the American Midwest, and we have just finished our 8 track debut album entitled ‘Enter Deception’ which is set for release worldwide this summer on Metal Blade Records! The band was formed in early 2004 by myself as a unique contrast to the waves of indie and hardcore bands that dominated our regional music scene. We began playing live in spring 2005 and released a 4 track demo entitled ‘Leaving All Behind’, which made its way to Metal Blade's USA office and gained their attention. After many line-up changes the band has secured its line-up with Michael Gremio our singer, myself the guitarist, David Dahir the drummer, Valentin Rakhmanov the bassist, and recently joined Bill Hudson on guitar. We are a young and very diverse band, ranging in age from 23 to as young as 17 years old, all having distinctly unique geographic and musical backgrounds, with Valentin our bass player being from Russia and Bill Hudson, our guitarist, being from Brazil.
Your debut “Enter Deception” will be released in the near future! How does it feel?
It’s a fantastic feeling to see our dreams of releasing an album coming to life! For me to see this band progressing forth above and beyond and then continuing to reach higher peaks despite all our obstacles we've had to face is quite an overwhelming feeling. As time goes by we are finding more and more supportive fans, media, and friends anxiously awaiting to hear what we have done and to hear and read their positive feedback and support from all around the world really has us sitting here thinking "I can't believe this is actually happening!".
How would you describe your music to people that have never heard of you before?
CELLADOR is a bombastic hyperdriven melodic speed metal band, at least that’s what I like to call it. We take all the greatest parts about our favourite style, melodic power metal, and combine it with more aggressive and extreme elements of metal to create a riffy, catchy, energetic style that you can either sing along too with your best scream or thrash around your bedroom to, or both at the same time! In CELLADOR we approach the style of music more from a fan's perspective than a musician's perspective, because we are some of the biggest and diverse metal fans you will find. In other words we play all the things we love, we take what we loved about certain styles and leave out what we hated or were bored with. CELLADOR is not about following a certain formula that some certain style suggests. We fuse our influences together to bring out a pure and honest style, and we do it without the prestige and egos many bands have that ends of distancing themselves from their fans.
What are your personal musical favourites and what are the main influences for the music of CELLADOR?
Let's see... we are huge metalheads but we all have different preferences I would say! I myself range from power metal like BLIND GUARDIAN, LOST HORIZON, HIBRIA, HELLOWEEN, to thrash like KREATOR, SLAYER, DESTRUCTION, SODOM, to some melodic death and black like AT THE GATES, DISSECTION, BORKNAGAR, etc. Val and Bill like a lot of more classic styles like GUNS N’ ROSES and KISS. Dave our drummer is mostly about more brutal technical bands like NECROPHAGIST, HATE ETERNAL etc. Mike our singer is usually the most partial to modern stuff on the radio and mainstream but is also largely into tons of power and straight forward metal.
Will you be touring Europe to support your debut?
We are anxiously awaiting the day when we get the chance to "jump the pond" and play to European audiences. It is an absolute dream for us to travel and see the world and meet as many people as possible. At this point I am unsure if a European tour is planned, but we will do all that we can to take every opportunity to do so!

Keep on the look out for CELLADOR's debut album ‘Enter Deception’. Trust me when I say it’s not the same old power metal done by the same old guys. Different attitudes and a fresh approach done by a new generation of guys. We know what fans say, because we are fans as well. Check it out!!
