AS I LAY DYING will be touring across Europe in November in support of their fantastic new album, 'The Powerless Rise'.
AS I LAY DYING recently destroyed several European festivals and clubs and undertake their biggest Euro jaunt to date. They will be co-headlining with Heaven Shall Burn plus more names to be announced soon.
AS I LAY DYING's latest album 'The Powerless Rise' entered the American Billboard Charts on position 10 and also entered the official album charts in Canada (pos. 11), Austria (pos. 21), Germany (pos. 22), Switzerland (pos. 39) and Australia (pos. 49)!

AS I LAY DYING debut on Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart at #10 with "The Powerless Rise"; debut on German Media Control Charts at # 22, in Austria at # 21! More Chart entries revealed!
AS I LAY DYING - whose last four albums count combines sales in excess of one million copies - have entered the Billboard Top 200 chart at #10 with over 38,000 copies sold of their much anticipated THE POWERLESS RISE album. THE POWERLESS RISE also reached #2 on Billboard's Independent Albums Chart and #3 on Billboard's Hard Music Albums Chart.
THE POWERLESS RISE also entered the official German Media Control Charts at position 22, they entered the Austrian Charts at 21 and the Swiss Charts at position 39. All three Chart positions mark the highest chart entries AS I LAY DYING ever had in those countries! THE POWERLESS RISE entered the inhouse Charts of the two bigget German chains on even higher positions - # 12 in the Media Markt Charts and # 15 in the Müller Markt Charts.
In Canada, the new album debuted at #11 on the Top 200 Chart, #2 on the Indie Chart and #3 on the Hard Rock Chart. Additionally, the album reached the Top 40 in Japan and position 49 in the official Australian album charts.
Potent and provocative, THE POWERLESS RISE elevates the group well-beyond their previous work, the new album marks their fifth disc and fourth to be released on Metal Blade Records.
The Billboard chart debut comes on the heels of AS I LAY DYING's acclaimed An Ocean Between Us. "Jordan and I started this band knowing we might be held back by the intensity of our music," says lead singer TIM LAMBESIS. "Nine years later we've released our second record to make it into the Top 10! AS I LAY DYING reveal front cover and track listing for 'The Powerless Rise'!
AS I LAY DYING joined forces once again with artist/musician Jacob Bannon (Converge) to create the cover artwork for The Powerless Rise!
Jacob designed the covers of the group’s three previous Metal Blade releases: An Ocean Between Us (2007), Shadows Are Security (2005) and Frail Words Collapse (2003).

"We wanted to make sure our songwriting progressed and I feel we've achieved our goal in creating an album with greater intensity than any we've crafted before it," explains AS I LAY DYING singer Tim Lambesis. "We added layers and complexity to the melodies and yet we were able to do so without softening our sound like so many of our peers."

AS I LAY DYING studio update!
AS I LAY DYING guitarist Phil Sgrosso is giving us a little update on the recordings of the bands new album The Powerless Rise!
"Hey everyone! We've been pretty busy the past few months. We're about several last minute pickscrapes/thunderchugs away from finishing ALL tracking for the Powerless Rise. We've had Colin Richardson and his assistant Martyn "Ginge" Ford out in San Diego working on mixes every day for about a month so far. It took a bit of time for us to get the guitar tone in the right place, but we've finally settled on something we all love and compliments the drums and bass quite nicely. Josh and Tim's vocals are sounding great as well. Colin and Ginge are doing a killer job!
Besides stopping by the studio a couple days a week, we've all been preparing to start up the next tour cycle. We've got an Australian/New Zealand run in late March, the Revolver awards April 8th in LA, followed by a US headliner that'll be going on right around the time our new record comes out. It's been nice being home most of the past year but it's time to get back out there with some new songs and an entirely new stage setup to intensify the live show. I've been missing that adrenaline rush from playing to our fans and I assure you the new songs will bring our live energy to a new level. Keep an eye out, we'll be coming to you soon…"

AS I LAY DYING have been confirmed for the Swiss edition of the Sonisphere festival, set to take place on Friday, June 18, 2010 at Degenaupark in Wil/Jonschwil, Switzerland.
AS I LAY DYING will be playing at Sonisphere besides label mates AMON AMARTH and the big four of Thrash Metal – METALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH and ANTHRAX!

Hollywood film festival winners AS I LAY DYING are busy in the studio recording their new album. Here´s an update straight from singer Tim Lambesis!
“We've released little bits of information here or there in previous news posts and blogs, but there are still questions coming in concerning what we've been up to. Below is an unquestionably obvious outline concerning our future plans…
1) We started working on new album
2) We started recording that new album a few weeks ago with Adam D & Daniel Castleman at the reigns (and JMR for a couple weeks)
3) There are only drums for 8 songs tracked so far. One of them may be questionable, but maybe vocals will help it make sense. Either way, we need write more than 8 songs (since they aren't as long as the 8 songs on Master of Puppets). Therefore we're working on writing MORE new songs as soon as we finish recording what's been started.
4) The only break in working on the new album will be our short trip to Mexico and Sri Lanka to play two of the best shows of our career.
5) All of us can't stress enough how grateful we are to be writing music that we love while still receiving a paycheck. This can only be credited to OUR LOYAL FANS! Sometimes bands need to rush out a crappy record so they can start touring again to pay their bills. In our case, we plan to make a record worth listening to (hopefully), and start touring again when we're done. Thanks for your patience and understanding. We care and we're working. In fact, I haven't had a full nights rest since March when the coolest kid ever made me a DAD!”

Grammy Nominees AS I LAY DYING Wins for Best Music Video for “The Sound of Truth” at the Hollywood Film Festival!
The 13th Annual Hollywood Film Festival's "Hollywood Awards" ceremony was held last week before a standing-room-only audience of over 1,100 Hollywood Film Festival attendees at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.

AS I LAY DYING frontman Tim Lambesis comments on the win “The Sound of Truth video could not have been made without an entire team of amazing people. It was a combination of two individually complex forms of art that came together seamlessly to create one great video I'm very proud of. The basic concept is related to the music and lyrics that we wrote, but Brian Thompson and his whole crew took that beyond what we could have imagined.”
Directed by Brian Thompson, who helmed their futuristic clip for "Nothing Left," the video for "The Sound of Truth" was made at Sound City Studios in Van Nuys, CA and is a continuation of the story the first video initiated. Like its predecessor, the story for this video was conceived by the band, fine-tuned by director Brian Thompson, and displays the irony and hypocrisy that takes place in a decaying futuristic society.

[07/05/09] Headbangers Blog and Headbangers Ball just premiered the latest video from Grammy Nominated San Diego act AS I LAY DYING for the track 'I Never Wanted' off of their critically and fan acclaimed release 'An Ocean Between Us'. Here's what guitarist Phil Sgrosso has to say about the video that was taken from the bands first ever DVD release 'This Is Who We Are', which just landed on the Billboard Top Music Videos Chart in both the US (#2) and Canada (#3) for first weeks sales.
"We've talked about doing a video for 'I Never Wanted' for quite some time now. Most videos that we've done have been for more fast and aggressive songs that have the usual AILD sound to it but we wanted to mix things up and do a video for a slower (but still heavy!) song that would be made up of footage from our new DVD, 'This Is Who We Are'."
"Denise Korycki filmed and directed our DVD so we thought it would be perfect for her to make a video that incorporated mostly footage from the DVD, plus some bonus stuff as well! The live footage is made up of several shows that we played in the past few years while the 'hanging out' footage was shot mostly while we were… well… hanging out. Not much more to it, I guess! Generally it takes us a day or two to film one of our videos but in a way, it took several years to make 'I Never Wanted' what it is. I hope you enjoy it."
AS I LAY DYING DVD goes Platinum in Canada!
[28/04/09] AS I LAY DYING's first-ever DVD, 'This Is Who We Are', sold 4,200 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 2 on the Top Music Videos chart. It also debuted at No. 3 in Canada, where the DVD has already shipped platinum.
Commented AS I LAY DYING frontman Tim Lambesis: "I'm completely honored to have our DVD reach so many people in only its first week out. Needless to say, it's a great achievement for our band, but it also goes to show that metal music has been opening new doors. Regardless of what mainstream media pushes, there are enough diehard fans out there to make something like this happen."
With 'This Is Who We Are', AS I LAY DYING steps into new territory by releasing its first-ever DVD consisting of three discs produced and directed by Denise Korycki (CANNIBAL CORPSE's 'Centuries of Torment' DVD) that provide viewers with live performances and a complete AS I LAY DYING audio/visual history.
