Head over to the band’s MySpace page to check out the track Antioxidant and get a taste of the new album. http://www.myspace.com/soilentgreen
“Catchy without being commercially friendly and still steeped deep in a world of blasts, breaks, manic pace alterations and that infections, anthem-esque Southern swagger for which Bayou state bands are so synonymous, the effort is at once dense, brutal and sonically punishing without a moment of filler or the evidence of a rehashed riff.” - Metal Maniacs
“A longtime New Orleans delicacy, the latest plateful of Soilent Green’s sludgy grind is just as toxic to the taste buds as anything the band’s released over a decade of ups and downs, coming together to cook up another batch of crusty comfort food on Inevitable Collapse in the Presence of Conviction… Soilent write songs like demolition derby crashes, with 11 tracks of Inevitable rarely sitting still for more than 30 seconds before skidding violently into the next riff or rhythm.” - Decibel

SHAI HULUD posts title track off upcoming album Misanthropy Pure!
Shai Hulud has just made the title track off their upcoming album Misanthropy Pure available for fans to check out on their MySpace page HERE. The title track Misanthropy Pure will also be the band’s first video off their Metal Blade Records debut and will be shot by David Brodsky (All That Remains, Hate Eternal, The Black Dahlia Murder).
Here’s what Matt Fox had to say:
“Hello ladies and people,
Your friendly neighborhood Shai Hulud here, cold lampin’, cold chillin’... or... something cold anyway. Actually, it’s rather nice out - not too cold at all. And none of us have ever "lamped," nor are we even sure what it means to "lamp," though we own a few. We’re even friends with one on MySpace. But none of that probably counts for much. Someone fill us in.
Rumors are abound! How exciting... Allow us to address the biggest rumor, which is not as much rumor as it is cold hard lampin’ truth... Our new album, entitled Misanthropy Pure, will be released on May 27th (yeah... this year, jerko) through Metal Blade Records. Yes, yes, we finished said album a few months ago but didn’t bother making an announcement because we knew none of you would believe us. What skeptics. We have trained you well.
For those concerned with such details, Ms. Pure features the ideas, performances, and overall efforts of these guys, alphabetically - sing with me, ABCDEFG and so forth and so on:
Matt Fletcher - Bass
Matt Fox - Guitars
Andrew Gormley - Drums
Matt Mazzali - Vocals
Greg Thomas - Engineer / Co-producer
You can catch the three Matts (dare we say, Mattrick?) on tour supporting Ms. Pure this year. Our long time friend and once-upon-a-time-before-he-was-a-family-man touring drummer Andrew Gormley was specially brought in just for the arranging and recording of the album. Greg, owner of Silver Bullet Media where Ms. Pure was recorded, who has also been seen playing second guitar with us on tour the past few months, is hard at work preparing the release of Colossus, the debut album of his band, The Risk Taken. Be sure to check that out when it, as some might say, drops.
So... What does old Ms. Pure sound like? We won’t bother you with rhetoric when you can just listen to the title track right here on our handy-dandy MySpace page. Thanks Tom!
Misanthropy Pure is one of 11 very different sounding songs on the album, so the good news is if you think Misanthropy Pure is the worst song you have ever heard in your inconsequential life, there are 10 more that may just tickle your grody little fancy.
We’ll be shooting a video for Misanthropy Pure sometime this month. Let the song soak in and read the lyrics (which are posted below) so you can come out, sing along and get rowdy with us on camera. Once we have the details about the video shoot we’ll let you know. In the meantime, neglect your chores and homework; get familiar with the song and get your finger-pointing fingers ready. We’ll be piling on top of each other and singing along soon. Again, we’ll post the details of the video shoot as soon as we have them. Keep the rest of this month open.”
Go HERE to finish reading the blog which includes the lyrics to the track Misanthropy Pure and a little Q&A with the band.
Make sure to catch Shai Hulud’s blistering live set when they hit the road with Mad Ball, M.O.D., and Bitter End. The band will also be hitting the infamous New England Metal & Hardcore Fest in Worcester, Mass on Sunday April 27th!

Here’s what people have been saying about AS I LAY DYING’s and EVERGREEN TERRACE’s latest releases:
- Evergreen Terrace -
“…a riveting back-and-forth between lead screamer Andrew Carey and the guitar shrieks of axemen Craig Chaney and Joshua James, proof that some vocalists and bands are meant for each other… melody, intensity, positive attitude…” - Decibel
“Wolfbiker the album is indeed badass metalcore, and as a band, Evergreen Terrace takes a step forward.” - Outburn
“Wolfbiker, the first release from the quintet’s new home, Metal Blade, is the epitome of everything the band stands for: being yourself, doing what you want, and, of course, finding happiness.” – Alternative Press
- As I Lay Dying -
“…one of the best pure-metal bands America has to offer” Alternative Press
“The whole album is the result of a band pushing themselves to their absolute limits, and in doing so, they’ve delivered an exciting, adrenaline fueled and potential future classic.” – Outburn
“By far the most aggressive, in your face statement they’ve ever made.” Kerrang!
“Onstage, As I Lay Dying’s music is all about impact: double bass drums pummeling at tachycardia-like rhythms… each tempo change, and there were plenty, had the visceral effect of a sudden gear shift.” The New York Times
“…to these battered ears (this album) is a revelation” Decibel Magazine
“…there is something here for every fan of tight, fast, smart metal.” Abort Magazine

WHITECHAPEL gives update on new album
“As you may know we’ve currently been in the studio working hard recording our Metal Blade Records debut album. While we’re doing this we figured we could fill you all in on some information about the record.
The title of the record will be THIS IS EXILE. This title may be familiar to some of you as we had been playing the title track live on our last tour giving you a taste of the material to come. The effort is being tracked by Jonny Fay (ex-guitarist of The Red Chord) of Backyard Studios in New Hampshire and will be mixed by Zuess (who has produced Ion Dissonance, Emmure, Blood Has Been Shed, Shadows Fall, Hatebreed). With this combination of producers and the new material we have written, we are sure to deliver you one of the heaviest records of 2008.
The artwork is being handled by Colin Marks (who has worked with Aborted, The End, Strapping Young Lad, The Red Death). He is doing a phenomenal job and we are extremely pleased with the outcome of his work. He has done a wonderful job of portraying the concept of the record through his artwork.
The CD will be released EVERYWHERE this summer, so keep your eyes peeled for a release date. The track listing, album artwork, and a brand new track for you all to enjoy will be released this spring.
We love each and every one of you and thank you so much for your continuing support; without all of you we couldn’t be living this dream. Keep it up and let’s make this CD huge!!”
Make sure to catch Whitechapel on the road all summer long!

AMON AMARTH continue working on new songs
Swedish Viking heroes AMON AMARTH have issued the following update:
"Back from a two-week vacation we've continued working on new songs for our upcoming release. We have a handful of great songs already, soon-to-be AMON AMARTH classics, and we still have plenty of great song ideas. On March 27th we’re taking a break from the songwriting, heading out to sea, raiding and pillaging (the bars) at the Sweden Rock Cruise."
AMON AMARTH is scheduled to enter Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden in May with producer Jens Bogren to begin recording its new album for a late 2008 release via Metal Blade Records.

Metal Blade Records THE OCEAN to tour North America for the first time in 7+ year career!
Ambitious, powerful, stirring, epic, stunning, astounding; these are just some of the words used to describe Berlin Germany’s THE OCEAN and their latest, highly praised, release Precambrian. The band that is known for pushing the boundaries of extreme music is finally coming to North America for the first time in their 7-plus year career, starting things off with dates in Canada in mid May. THE OCEAN will then head to the US for a full tour with support coming from Lair of the Minotaur, and Kylesa (co-headliner), Intronaut, Withered, and The Destro on select dates.
Make sure to visit the Legions of the Winged Octopi Tour MySpace page for details on how to win free tickets, merch, and CD's from The Ocean! http://www.myspace.com/legionsofwingedoctopitour

THE OCEAN’s first Metal Blade release Aeolian, which came out in spring 2006, made a colossal dent in the metal scene and proved this was a band not to be ignored internationally. The reactions to the album – for the first time on a worldwide scale – were indeed amazing. The disc was ‘Album of the Month’ in the Swedish Close Up magazine, while Kerrang! called it “complex” and “mercilessly tight”, rewarding it with 4 Ks. Revolver gave Aeolian a 5 out of 5 ranking and stated: “THE OCEAN make the guitar / bass / drums axis seem monstrously huge, bringing a symphonic richness to the music without sacrificing its ear-bludgeoning quality”.
At the end of 2006, the band commenced work on Precambrian, a double album which was released November 27th 2007. Its concept and album artwork evolve around the early days of our planet, when mother earth was a hostile and uninhabitable place devoid of life and reigned by fire, sulfur and streams of red-glowing lava. The two disk CD is composed of a mini-CD with 22 minutes playing time entitled ‘Hadean/Archaean’, and a full-length CD with 61 minutes playing time, entitled ‘Proterozoic’, both referring to successive geological eras. Guests on the album include Caleb Scofield (CAVE IN, ZOZOBRA, OLD MAN GLOOM), Nate Newton (CONVERGE, DOOMRIDERS), Dwid Hellion (INTEGRITY), Tomas Hallbom (BREACH), Eric Kalsbeek (TEXTURES) and musicians from the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.
“The Ocean has delivered a record that is ambitious, stirring, and musically stunning. Prepare to be swept away.” Outburn
“Ambitious and epic, dense and orchestral… the extreme-metal equivalent of Pink Floyd’s The Wall.” Alternative Press
“Full of cinematic breadth and orchestral majesty, it’s easy to get lost in the album’s 80 minutes of rhythmic sea changes and powerful riffing.” Revolver
“…The Ocean do for earth science class what Mastodon did for Melville: make learning brutal.” Decibel
“One can never accuse The Ocean of doing anything with less than 147 percent intensity… The Berlin-based progressive and experimental all-encompassing extreme music collective are known for rewriting the rules when it comes to how a metal band is supposed to operate.” Metal Maniacs
“…smoky, Badalamenti-inspired passages and heaps of classical instrumentation (‘Orosirian, ‘Calymmian’) finding a healthy home during the ascents and descents through crooned dark rock, Mr. Bungle playfulness, Neur-Isis dirges and DEP/NIN electronica. Astounding work.” Terrorizer
“This is by and large The Ocean’s finest hour… one of the best albums of 2007.” Metalreview.com
“Our jaws dropped to the floor from literally the first song of the bone-crushing first disc and remained there throughout the genre-defying, progged-out second disc… a true, bona fide ALBUM as opposed to a collection of songs.” MetalSucks.net
“If you hadn’t yet heard of The Ocean, get ready to hear a lot about them. Precambrian is amazing.” Blistering.com
Guitarist and founding member Robin Staps had this to say about touring North America for the first time:
“It's not easy for European metal bands to tour in North America and we've been wanting to get over there for a long time, so we're very happy that the extremely positive feedback that 'Precambrian' has received in Canada and the US finally makes it possible now. I am particularly looking forward to playing in Canada, a country that has spawned many bands that were very inspirational to us, bands as different as Rush, Godspeed You Black Emperor!, and Arcade Fire..."

EPICUREAN’s A Consequence of Design receiving rave reviews!
Minneapolis, Minnesota’s Epicurean recently released their Metal Blade debut A Consequence of Design on March 4th and has been receiving praise from fans and press alike!
Here’s what people are saying about Epicurean’s A Consequence of Design:
“Epicurean have put a healthy progressive flavor into a stale metal-core genre here, in what should be a much talked about release in 2008… You can't help but get pulled in by the dual Thin Lizzy/Iron Maiden styled tasty leads on "The Burden of Eternity", or the intense & intricate guitar/drum/keyboard arrangements of "Illumination"-clearly, this is a band that is not content to just deliver generic modern metal.” - seaoftranquility.org
“Most importantly what Epicurean have done is brought the keyboards, melodies, and a fantastic understanding of metal back to life in a genre that has been belittled to breakdowns and growls.” - somethingpunk.com
“Power metal in structure and death metal in drum beats, A Consequence of Design is a colossal record that gallops without letup as if the devil were hot on Epicurean’s heels.” - Metal Maniacs Magazine
“With this amount of power, beauty, skill, and intensity wrapped up into a single, tuneful package, A Consequence of Design makes an impressive introduction.” - Outburn
“Coupled with the dramatic touches the blend of guitars and keyboards lend, the words are adorned with a maturity usually reserved for veteran acts.' - Ultimate-Guitar.com
“A Consequence of Design is surprisingly refreshing, relying on shredding solos and undeniably catchy melodies… (A Consequence of Design) mixes keyboards, guitar shred, death metal vocals and clean, epic choruses all in under six minutes and does it in a way most modern bands can only hope to manage.” - deadtide.com
“The songs are aggressive, but very catchy. The dual guitars weave intricate riffs and solos while the keyboards add the atmosphere and symphonic elements... A Consequence of Design is an interesting debut, as Epicurean shows originality and songwriting skill.” - about.com
“Epicurean do what they do in a seriously cut-above-the-rest way. The sound they have is honed to a perfect sphere, encompassing the ideas they try to get across to the listener. Imagine mid-eighties era thrash metal but completely updated for this age and having keyboards that don’t fuck the album up. In fact the keyboards here feel interwoven with the music so they help push the song along instead of trying to create some overdeveloped sense of mood or importance like so many other bands do.” - Iann Robinson, nonelouder.com

HAIL OF BULLETS to release …Of Frost And War!
Dutch Death Metal sensation, HAIL OF BULLETS, have finished recording their debut album “…Of Frost And War”. The album was recorded in February/March of 2008 at Excess Studios in Rotterdam, Holland and mixed and mastered in Sweden by Dan Swanö of Edge Of Sanity fame.
Comments drummer Ed Warby: “The soundtrack to all-out, total war is here! If you've ever wondered what it feels like to be run over by a 50 ton Tiger tank, now's your chance... “
Tracklisting:
1. Before the Storm (Barbarossa) / Intro
2. Ordered Eastward
3. The Lake Ladoga Massacre
4. General Winter
5. Advancing Once More
* Red Wolves of Stalin
* Nachthexen
* The Crucial Offensive (19-11-1942, 7.30 AM)
* Stalingrad
* Insanity Commands / bonus track
* Inferno at the Carpathian Mountains
* Berlin
In other news HAIL OF BULLETS have upgraded their European deal with Metal Blade Records to a worldwide deal! Says Ed: “We are proud to announce we'll be signing to Metal Blade Records for Worldwide domination! This is great news for us since we're already part of Metal Blade's European roster, and we're stoked as hell to go global with the mighty Blade!”
HAIL OF BULLETS simply rule!
Dutch Death Metal Masters, Hail of Bullets, have caused quite an impact on the German and Dutch press at the listening session held in Rotterdam recently. All journalists were more than excited about what they got to hear at Excess Studios. As Patrick Schmidt of German Rock Hard magazine stated “Probably the best traditional Death Metal release that will see the light of day in 2008! HAIL OF BULLETS smashes the competitors to dust!”
Dimmu Borgir’s very own Silenoz got to hear the album as well and is more than impressed: "When you think there's no hope left for brutal music, where every band sounds the same, HAIL OF BULLETS comes along and just level everything with the ground. Pretenders - move over!"
Be prepared for a death metal overdose! ”…Of Frost And War” will be released on May 13th!

Into the Moat finishing work on new album!
"The new album is coming along very well. The songs are just about finished up and we are going to try to get some shows going before we hit the studio (nothing as of yet though). Sadly, our recording date has been pushed back to June 14th, but all this extra time to add finishing touches will make for an amazing record. In other news we are in the process of re-mixing/mastering the EP. That’s right boys and girls, 'Means by Which the End is Justified' is being re-released on Metal Blade Records. We have not come up with a release date yet but we plan to have it out before the full-length. As soon as it sounds brutal, it will be released. Hope this tides you all over until we grace you with our digital presence again."

BLACK MARKET ACTIVITIES News Update:
ANIMOSITY’S Teeth Grinder video to premier on MTV2’s Headbangers Ball and Headbangers Blog
Reppin’ the Bay in full force, Animosity unleashes the video for the song Teeth Grinder for world premiere April 11 on MTV2’s Headbanger’s Blog. Following its blogisphere release, the video will make its television debut April 12 on MTV2’s Headbanger’s Ball.
Under the direction of skate video extraordinaire Richie Valdez (Job For A Cowboy, Every Time I Die), Animosity randomly explores San Francisco in typical Animosity fashion with its goofy antics and running-a-muck silliness.
Vocalist Leo Miller didn’t use his parent’s, contemporary-art-lined house for Teeth Grinder’s filming like he did for The Black Page. The band instead took its shenanigans to the gritty streets, hilariously ravaging several cultural attributes that epitomize San Francisco.
Animosity first hit the scene in 2000, when most of the members were only 15 years old, with a blistering brand of death metal/hardcore that sought to defy stereotypes and spit in the face of the mainstream. Almost two years after their Black Market Activities debut, Animosity is back and poised to showcase their tremendous talent and growth with Animal.
