The Red Chord announce “Burgers & Bowling Tour” with Mychildren Mybride, Chelsea Grin and Those Who Lie Beneath!
The Red Chord have released their most unrelenting album to date in Fed Through The Teeth Machine and are taking their show back on the road this Spring with a headlining tour! They’re bringing some of most talked about up and coming metal bands in the scene including Mychildren Mybride, Chelsea Grin and Those Who Lie Beneath. Everyone that’s seen The Red Chord live knows they have one of the most energetic and genuinely all around fun stage shows in metal. Couple that with the youthful vitality of the rest of the bands on the tour and metal fans across the US will be in for a night of huge pits, wrestling vocalists’ for mics and shredding en masse.

There are more technical metal bands than you can count that are trying to carve their own niche, but few, if any, can recreate what The Red Chord have achieved. They are truly innovators in their genre and Fed Through The Teeth Machine has continued to perpetuate their reputation as incredible musicians and, more importantly, song writers. But don’t take our word for it and don’t miss this tour!

“The Massachusetts quartet prove how forward-thinking a maligned subgenre can sound when the masters reclaim it.” 4/5 stars, Alternative Press

“The foursome’s fierce attack is as brutal as ever…what could well be a bunch of noise in the hands of lesser headbangers is intricate and engrossing on Teeth Machine, whether it’s the twisting tempo shifts of “Demoralizer” or the blazing twin guitar attacks on “Hymns and Crippled Anthems.” Revolver Magazine

“There are moments when Fed Through is angrier than a hornet’s nest, faster than Usain Bolt with diarrhea and weird as that guy talking to himself on the street corner, but still as smart as a college professor and groovier than the skin around grandma’s eyes.” Decibel Magazine

“Mike “Gunface” McKenzie is the album’s real all-star, and I’ll take as much of his playing as I can get, thank you very much. He sounds more nimble than ever, and while I’ve always really dug his solos, he’s stepped up his game here – they all absolutely slay.” MetalSucks.net

“There are shades of LAMB OF GOD, BURNT BY THE SUN, and METALGAZER here, and swirling in the middle is Guy Kozowyk. Like a tornado he comes at you, cracking jokes while delivering an aural punch at the temple and laughing while you fall.” MetalEater.com

This album is quickly becoming their defining opus and has received top album of 2009 accolades on the likes of Decibel Magazine, The Onion, about.com, blistering.com, examiner.com, popmatters.com and more. Billboard Top New Artist (Heatseekers) Albums Debut @ #16
Billboard Top Independent Albums Debut @ #34

What’s been said about Carving Out The Eyes Of God:
“the band’s tightest, most guitar-driven offering to date. An unholy smorgasbord of rigid tempo shifts, gargantuan hooks, blasting black mass anthems, and Falgoust’s soot and venom snarl…” Decibel Magazine

“Their most varied record to date. Songs sear with an old-school, punk propelled urgency that comes from years of Motörhead, Venom, and Hellhammer worship.” 4/5 stars, Revolver Magazine

BISON b.c. is putting the finishing touches on their sophomore album and follow up to 2008’s Quiet Earth. Those who have witnessed this band live already know how engrossing their honest and intense stage show has become. Praise for BISON b.c. from the press:
“powerful and dignified…they dare to approach the maniacal majesty of present-day High on Fire.” Decibel Magazine

“If Mastodon had spent more time listening to Anthrax, they might sound like Vancouver's Bison B.C.” Rollingstone.com

Armored Saint posts first single and artwork for new album, “La Raza”!
Armored Saint has unveiled the cover art and the first single from their first new album since 2001, La Raza! The album’s foundation was laid back in 2008 when Joey Vera and John Bush began writing new material for what would become La Raza and the album was completed in December at Tranzformer Studios in Burbank, CA. The album was produced by bassist Joey Vera, and engineered by Bryan Carlstrom and his assistant John Nuss. Recording was mostly done with analog equipment and the final album mix was delivered on 1 inch tape. This gives La Raza the most organic sound as possible. Fans can finally hear the first single, Left Hook From Right Field, on http://www.myspace.com/armoredsaint1.

To complete the package, the band employed photographer Stephanie Cabral and Metal Blade’s own Brian Ames. Joey Vera comments further, “Metal Blade is doing a really cool digi pack package for us. We felt like the city of Los Angeles is such a big part of our fabric that we wanted to use that in the design of the artwork. So with the help of our good friend and photographer Stephanie Cabral and Brian Ames from the Metal Blade art department, we came up with a really cool package that represents our band and the music on this record. We also wanted to incorporate a “green” action by leaving out the plastic CD tray and using recycled paper. The result is a classy and poignant package.”

La Raza will be available everywhere on March 16th, 2010.

La Raza track listing:
1. Loose Cannon
2. Head On
3. Left Hook from Right Field
4. Get Off the Fence
5. Chilled
6. La Raza
7. Black Feet
8. Little Monkey
9. Blues
10. Bandit Country

Brain Drill complete work on new album, “Quantum Catastrophe”!
Brain Drill has completed work on their follow up to 2008’s tech death masterpiece, Apocalyptic Feasting. The band will again take fans on a mind-melting voyage through the boundaries of exactly how incredibly technical death metal can be. Quantum Catastrophe continues to push the band to their physical limits while somehow still exhibiting their trademark and infectious hook-laden riffs.

Guitarist Dylan Ruskin adds some insight into the musical process; “The album was definitely a huge accomplishment in the chronicling of the drill. The musical dynamics and skill level of everyone in the band have improved much more than the previous album. The songs are more technical and musically diverse but are also well balanced and catchy, including several bass breaks by Ivan Munguia and two songs written and recorded on guitar by him, entitled Awaiting Eminent Destruction and Mercy To None. Stay tuned for more.”

Quantum Catastrophe again features cover art by Par Olofsson (www.parolofsson.se). The over the top cover art (which will be released shortly) perfectly complements the nearly unbelievable musicianship present on the record. Fans can get a taste of what the new material is like, as well as new drummer Ron Casey, on a recently uploaded youtube video. In the video, Dylan and Ron play the new track, Monumental Failure. Check it out HERE.

Vocalist Steve Rathjen explains the concept behind Quantum Catastrophe; “Universal decimation (black holes, galactic cosmic radiation), pandemic disease and zombie re-awakenings - mankind is entering an age of mass speculation as foreseen by numerous ancient cultures. Space to all humanity still primarily remains a mystery even in our days of immense technological advancements. We know this void is filled with infinite extremities which could occur at any instant; easily decimating all habitations. We also know our planet has fulfilled these mass extinctions time and again centuries in the past. The question which remains, are we due for another apocalyptic transition?”

Brain Drill is:
Dylan Ruskin - guitar
Steve Rathjen - vocals
Ivan Munguia - bass
Ron Casey - drums

Check out what people have been saying about STARRING JANET LEIGH’s latest release Spectrum:

“Like Norman Bates with his kitchen knife, these five Canadians slice their way through several musical boundaries, including death metal, hardcore, jazz, progressive, and fusion, with unfettered vengeance and vehemence…delivered with surgical precision.” Outburn magazine

“…an incredible nine-song set of genre-bending adventure that places them firmly in a class that includes Candiria, Between the Buried and Me, and Mr. Bungle before them.” Fangoria.com

“…well-formed and brutally nice…the chugging section that leads into the clear cloud break is perfect; you can imagine a pit devouring it live, even the brief Mr Bungle passage works. The vocals too are excellent, while the drums, as usual with these guys, are spit-fire.” Blistering.com

“…there’s a tantalizing 70s progressive rock element that keeps creeping into their music, as if Frank Zappa and Robert Fripp are trying to bust into a jam between Psyopus and Every Time I Die.” Hellbound.ca

Spectrum is a mind-warping debut album that will impress some and leave others clueless…Chaotic and unpredictable…Like The Dillinger Escape Plan on speed, or a technical death metal band gone haywire, STARRING JANET LEIGH is the sound of five guys completely out of control and enjoying every minute of the ride. Spectrum is a wild debut album, one that isn't content to stick to a formulaic design.” About.com

“Hyperactive technicality, schizophrenic speed, and a whole lot of extreme make up Canada’s STARRING JANET LEIGH and their latest album, Spectrum. You better chug a few Monster Energy Drinks before you listen to this one, because Spectrum is one hell of a thrill ride from start to finish. Seeing the current brutality coming out of Canada, STARRING JANET LEIGH fits in perfectly with the likes of Beneath The Massacre, Ion Dissonance, and Despised Icon…” 8/10 SMNnews.com

“The music is not just simply a strict dichotomy of jazz and technical death metal. The jazz influences the metal, and the metal influences the jazz. Instead of the standard wall of sound and constant crushing guitars and drums, the death metal features complex rhythmic and melodic themes constantly intertwining and changing. Each instrument can be heard weaving in and out of the others, and the moments when they all come together are pure bliss.” MetalUnderground.com

Spectrum is unbelievably heavy, extraordinarily fast, and incredibly pissed off. Fans of the Death Metal genre will truly dig this album; it is one of the better ones that I have heard in this genre this year if for no other reason than at least STARRING JANET LEIGH have thought outside the box by adding a bit of unexpected variety.” 8/10 PureGrainAudio.com

Oderus Urungus makes record breaking eighth appearance on Fox News' "Red Eye"
This just in from Slave Pit Headquarters! In an obvious symbolic gesture heralding the continuing domination of the rock-shock-group-band GWAR over all media, FOX News and Slave Pit Inc. are proud to announce the first appearance on the networks late-night news/laugh fest, “Red Eye" by their official and world’s first "Interplanetary Correspondent", GWAR's Oderus Urungus, tonight at 3:00am EST

Oderus was a shocking addition to the supposedly conservative agenda of the network, and quickly parlayed his guest spot into a semi-regular feature on the show, which is hosted by the disarmingly dimpled Greg Gutfeld, ex-MAXIM editor and all around great guy.

"I am glad to be back,” said Oderus, taking a break in the festivities surrounding the continuing 25th Anniversary of GWAR's re-awakening on Earth. "Where was I?"

For all you GWAR fans out there wanting to stay up to date with your favorite alien nasties, Metal Blade has created a GWAR widget. This intergalactic widget includes an MP3 of the track “Let Us Slay”, band photos, information about the album, and will have upcoming GWAR tour dates when the band hits the road again. Fans can also add the widget to their blogs and networking pages and it will update automatically with new tour dates, music, videos and more. Grab the GWAR widget HERE.
