THE OCEAN reveal track listing and details on "Anthropocentric"
European tour dates with The Dillinger Escape Plan, Cancer Bats
The Ocean are currently in the process of mixing their upcoming album Anthropocentric at Studio Mecanique in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, the same place where Heliocentric was recorded and mixed. The album will be mastered on August 25th by Svante Forsbäck in Helsinki.
Musically, the album feels somehow heavier than Heliocentric. "The sound is more dense and maybe a tad more raw, which suits the songs perfectly", comments guitar player Jonathan Nido. The album covers a similar sonic and dynamic range as Heliocentric, also including a number of calm, acoustic moments – but these are for the most part orchestrated with guitars, and not so much with piano and string section. The focus is on the heavy songs: "The album is a pretty big production, and still has a very earthy, organic feel to it", comments Staps. "We have spent a great deal of time on the basic sound this time around, drums, bass, guitars and vocals… and at this stage I am pretty confident that this will pay off in the end!"
As far as the concepts behind Anthropocentric are concerned, the focus is on man and his place in the universe: at the center, as many fundamental Christians still claim today, or more likely a dust particle in its periphery? All lyrics are circling around this question. "Anthropocentric will continue the critique of christianity, inspired by the questions that Dostoyevsky asked and some of the answers that Friedrich Nietzsche and Richard Dawkins gave", comments Staps.
At the base of the album are three songs with the titles "The Grand Inquisitor I, II and III". These songs have been inspired by the chapter of the same title in Fjodor Dostoyevsky's novel The Brothers Karamasov: a conversation between the brothers Ivan, an atheist, and Alyoscha, a monk. Ivan tells Alyoscha the story of a Second Coming of Christ in 16th century Sevilla. According to this parable, Jesus is arrested by the Catholic inquisition. The grand inquisitor who interrogates Jesus casts a new light on the legend of the temptation of Christ: he reproaches Jesus with having betrayed humanity and having deprived man of salvation by giving him freedom. The conversation between Ivan and Alyoscha mirrors, to some degree, the conversation between the grand inquisitor and Christ and raises more questions than it answers. "This long dialogue, which for the most part is rather a monologue of Ivan, is so complex and recondite that one could easily find inspiration for 10 concept albums about Christianity in it", comments Staps.
Only 6 guest musicians are appearing on the album, all classical musicians, most of whom are guesting on the final track of the album. Anthropocentric is an album by The Ocean's consolidated nucleus. "It is the first album where all members have actively partaken in the songwriting", comments Staps.
The track listing for Anthropocentric is as follows:
1. Anthropocentric
2. The Grand Inquisitor I: Karamazov baseness
3. She Was The Universe
4. For He That Wavereth…
5. The Grand Inquisitor II: Roots & Locusts
6. The Grand Inquisitor III: A Tiny Grain of Faith
7. Sewers Of The Soul
8. Wille Zum Untergang
9. Heaven TV
10. The Almightiness Contradiction
11. The Grand Inquisitor IV: Exclusion From Redemption
The last track is a bonus track which will only appear on the vinyl and the limited European deluxe digipak version.

Alternative Press premiers RETURN TO EARTH music video for 'Automata'!
In conjunction with the new release Automata from the alternative metal act RETURN TO EARTH, Alternative Press Magazine is premiering the group's music video for the title track 'Automata' on their website HERE. The video for 'Automata' was created by the same team that brought fans the two trailers for the album, Damien Serban and Yann Bertrand from Absinthe Studio in France (www.absinthestudio.com). Head over to AltPress.com today to check out the video and be sure to leave your comments.
Metal Blade Records has launched a landing page where fans can go to check out music, watch the two teaser videos made by Damien Serban and Yann Bertrand, an in-the-studio-video and video footage of Chris Pennie (ex-Dillinger/current Coheed drummer) at the 2010 Modern Drummer Festival, and purchase the album.
"Mixing a love of Mike Patton, Trent Reznor and latter-day Dillinger with the catchy hooks of Coheed, RTE's second release is an unapologetically slick attempt to smuggle leftfield influences into a mainstream rock sound." Kerrang! Magazine
"Influenced by textural and experimental bands such as System of a Down, Faith No More, Tool and Muse, Return to Earth play a striking combination of math metal, alt-rock, classic rock and even industrial." Noisecreep.com
"The musicianship on display is faultless, they've really got a knack for writing a good tune, it's good to see also that they're not ashamed to employ melody and write a catchy song, so many heavy rock bands would shy away from this." Altsounds.com
About the band:
RETURN TO EARTH is the amalgamation of the musical talents of Ron Scalzo, Brett Aveni, and Chris Pennie; three veteran and visionary musicians whose material can't be pigeonholed to one genre or easily classified. You'll hear bits and pieces of their influences and other projects and those bits and pieces come together to form the unique whole that is RETURN TO EARTH.
All three members of RTE sport impressive musical resumes - Pennie, in particular, hones his craft as one of the most heralded drummers working today. His groundbreaking drum style provides the backbone for RTE's aggressive brand of rock. Pennie also wrote a lot of the material & contributed in the form of synth & loop programming. "Brett & I have been itching to work with Chris for years," admits Scalzo. "He's one of those prodigies that make the rest of wonder why we even bother trying to make music."
Brooklyn native Scalzo is no slouch in the music-making department, having achieved moderate success as electro-rock singer/songwriter Q*Ball. With three self-released critically-acclaimed albums under his belt, Scalzo has purveyed that moderate success – and a lot of long hours – into an underground DIY label, Bald Freak Music. The upstart's growing roster includes Guns N' Roses guitarist Bumblefoot, who releases his impressive solo work on the label, and buzz-worthy pirate metal band Swashbuckle.
"You blink your eyes these days & the industry has already shifted another 30 degrees to the left," says Scalzo. "I was tired of playing 'the game' – trying to fashion an image, a look, a musical style that would impress all the wrong people. I wanted to make music that I wanted to make, and the only way I was going to do that on my own terms was to release it myself."
RETURN TO EARTH is:
Ron Scalzo - Vocals
Brett Aveni - Guitars
Chris Pennie - Drums

HAIL OF BULLETS reveal album art, track listing and concept behind new album 'On Divine Winds'!
Dutch Death Metal Masters HAIL OF BULLETS have announced On Divine Winds as the title of the band’s upcoming full-length studio album to be released October 12th via Metal Blade Records!
HAIL OF BULLETS' debut album '…Of Frost and War' was a concept album about the Eastern front war of Germany. 'On Divine Winds' is another concept album, this time covering the Pacific battles between Japan and the USA.
Vocalist Martin van Drunen comments: "This time Hail of Bullets takes on the Pacific War. The expansion of the Empire of Japan throughout Asia, introducing a full scale war using all forces combined. The massive strike back of the Americans, whose marines bravely fought many tough and bloody battles on now forgotten insulate islands spread throughout the whole Pacific. This led to desperate Japanese defense tactics such as Kamikaze, human bullets and suicidal Banzai charges. Until finally, incendiary bombings brought the empire to its knees."
The album title On Divine Winds refers to the translation for the Japanese word Kamikaze, as kami stands for "God" and kaze means "wind".
On Divine Winds track listing:
1. The Eve Of Battle
2. Operation Z
3. The Mukden Incident
4. Strategy of Attrition
5. Full Scale War
6. Guadalcanal
7. On Coral Shores
8. Unsung Heroes
9. Tokyo Napalm Holocaust
10. Kamikaze
11. To Bear the Unbearable
On Divine Winds was produced by Ed Warby and like before the monstrous mix was in the capable hands of Mr. Dan Swanö.
Drummer Ed Warby adds: "I don't think I've ever worked this hard on anything in my entire life, but it sure has paid off! Although …Of Frost And War is a tough act to follow, my ringing ears tell me we've succeeded in besting it on every level: songs, playing, production… at the moment Dan Swanö is putting the final touches on a mix that could squash a tank, and then it's off to the pressing plant! All the main ingredients of our blood 'n' guts style death metal have remained intact and I honestly can't imagine anyone that liked our previous work is going to be the least bit disappointed… on the contrary!"
On Divine Winds will be released out October 12th in North America!

KING OF ASGARD premiere video for 'Einhärjar'!
Swedish Viking Folk death metallers KING OF ASGARD have uploaded a professionally filmed video clip for the album opener 'Einhärjar' on the Metal Blade landing page!
Surf over to http://www.metalblade.com/kingofasgard/ to check out the video clip and the order deals for the band's debut album 'Fi'mbulvintr'!
KING OF ASGARD comments on the video:
"The "Einhärjar" music video was recorded in July 2010, directed by Richard Moneus, the driving force behind the production company 1897. It was shot in an old dirty barn at a location just outside where we live. Spending what felt like ages in the old dusty room was well worth the sweat and blood. After the barn battleground, Richard took care of the hard work to cut, edit and piece it all together in a functioning symbiosis. Now, viewing the final result we are extremely proud of how good this video turned out. Hell yeah, Richard!"
'Fi'mbulvintr' is available now!
Head over to the band's MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/kingofasgardsweden) to stream two songs from 'Fi'mbulvintr'!
'Fi'mbulvintr' was recorded in March and April of 2010 in Varberg, Sweden at Andy LaRoqcue's (King Diamond) Sonic Train Studios. Andy also engineered and co-produced the album.
'Fi'mbulvintr' track listing:
1 - Intro
2 - Einhärjar
3 - Vämods Tale
4 - The Last Journey
5 - Never Will You Know of Flesh Again
6 - Wrath of the Gods
7 - Snake Tongue
8 - Brethren of the North
9 - Day of Sorrow
10 - Lingering a Sacred Ground
11 - Heroes' Brigade
12 - Strike of the Hammer
13 - Fi'mbulvintr (outro)
KING OF ASGARD took form in 2008 by founder Karl Beckman (ex-Mithotyn) after dissolving his latest musical projects. Teaming up with long time absent fellow worker, Karsten Larsson (Falconer, ex-Mithotyn). As a result, after years apart, the decision was made to go back to their roots both musically as well as heading for their Norse heritage in lyrical approach. In late 2009 J. Albrektsson joined the ranks on bass to strengthen the line-up further.
KING OF ASGARD is:
Karl Beckman – guitar, vocals
Jonas Albrektsson – bass
Karsten Larsson – drums
'Fi'mbulvintr' can be ordered for $10.99 at THIS location!

They soon found a proper and stable line-up and played lots of shows in their homeland Slovenia including a gig at the infamous Metal Camp festival. Between 2003 and 2005 they also released three untitled demos.
2005 marks a turning point in the history of NEGLIGENCE when they parted ways with their old singer and presented the 15-year old Alex as their new frontman. The band gathered a bigger fan base and in 2007 NEGLIGENCE independently released their debut album Options Of A Trapped Mind. The album opened many new doors for the group and got a good reception amongst metal fans and received great reviews worldwide. Following the release, the band went on to promote their album supporting some of the biggest acts in metal, such as Exodus, Forbidden, Heathen, Sadus and Death Angel among others.
At the end of 2009, long-time member Dyz parted ways with the band but was still part of the production for the second album. NEGLIGENCE have recently found a second guitar player – his name is Aljo - who will help increasing the sheer power the band is able to deliver on stage!

- A New Era of Corruption on vinyl
WHITECHAPEL’s latest release, A New Era of Corruption, entered Billboard Magazine's Top 200 Chart at #43 in its first week of release. A New Era of Corruption also debuted at #2 on the Hard Music Core Stores Chart, #3 on the Independent Albums Chart, and #5 on the Hard Music Albums Chart. In addition to breaking the charts in the states, A New Era of Corruption also charted in Canada coming in at #70 on the Current Albums chart, #9 on the Indie chart, and #8 on the Hard chart. A New Era of Corruption marks the band's 3rd full-length album and 2nd for Metal Blade Records. Check out what press has had to say about the band's latest, and to date greatest, release A New Era of Corruption, which the group co-produced with infamous metal producer Jason Suecof at Jason's Orlando, FL based Audiohammer Studios:
"while there's a familiar sense of disgust spewed all over this third album, there's been some evolving back at the deathlab. It's easy enough to play fast and hard in death metal – easier still to make that all you do, but as Devolver's ceremonious opener builds intensities, leveling the blows with a calculated malice for maximum damage, the band sound deadlier than ever." 8/10 Decibel Magazine
"Say what you like about the way death metal has evolved, but to deny that Whitechapel are both insanely heavy and technically dazzling would be churlish petulance. They hinted at this level of bone-powdering brutality on their first two albums, but have slipped into a higher gear for their third, more than justifying their status as one of the few bands snapping at the heels of Job for A Cowboy… overall this is the sound of Whitechapel maturing and realizing their own considerable potential, with much precision, power, and simplicity." 8/10 Terrorizer Magazine
"The band presents a truly mixed palette with progressive asides, tempered harmonies and arrangements that take surprising yet complimentary avenues… Whitechapel now appear unconcerned with all-out heaviness, in its place they have sampled the breadth of their genre creating a metal record both balanced and deep." Rock Sound Magazine
"Sharp guitar melodies and serrated hooks augment the brawn without diluting it, and this new side of the band adds a superb twist to their already well-established fury." 3/4 Kerrang! Magazine
"a sound so thick you could bite into it… Whitechapel are leading the next generation of extreme." Metal Hammer Magazine
"Every band has their signature album. Slayer has Reign in Blood, Cannibal Corpse has Vile, Pantera had Cowboys from Hell. A New Era of Corruption is Whitechapel's masterpiece." 5/5, TheNewReview.net
"A New Era Of Corruption is more complete and more focused… Whitechapel has become the Behemoth of deathcore." MetalReview.com
"a deadly, lumbering and ultimately trend-free beast" Noisecreep.com
"What Whitechapel will put out this year is nothing short of some of the grimiest metal sludge to ever breach the Billboard chart, a three-guitar wall of sound bolstered by vocalist Phil Bozeman's rasp." Albuquerque Journal
"Corruption, venom and hatred. Tons of blastbeats. Stomach-churning guitar riffs. It’s kind of shocking that the new Whitechapel is better than their last, namely because This Is Exile was amazing." The Hartford Advocate
"there is no getting away from the fact that, as far as modern death metal goes, there are no better exponents of this breakdown laden mayhem than this triple-guitar monster." Planet-Loud.com
"The band's new album, A New Era Of Corruption, is eleven songs of being pummeled in the face with an iron pipe." CraveOnline.com

Flashback Fridays on Metal Blade TV – Amon Amarth "The Pursuit Of Vikings"!
On Fridays, Metal Blade Records will be releasing a classic production video from the vaults on MetalBlade.tv. The next video on Metal Blade TV's Flashback Fridays is Amon Amarth's video for "The Pursuit Of Vikings" off the album Fate Of Norns, which was released September 7th, 2004. Seeing as the label has been around for almost 30 years now, we have quite a bit of videos to go through and digitize for the rabid metal world to view. Be sure to keep an eye on MetalBlade.tv, or simply follow us on Twitter or Facebook to find out what classic Metal Blade video has been pulled from the vaults. Have a favorite Metal Blade video you want us to add? Leave us a comment on Facebook and get your friends to 'Like' it. Video requests will be tallied every other month and videos with the most votes will be pulled from the vaults and added to MetalBlade.tv as soon as we get our grubby metal hands on it.
Watch "The Pursuit Of Vikings" now on MetalBlade.tv!

MALEFICE to tour the UK with Arch Enemy in November
MALEFICE have been added to the monstrous Arch Enemy UK tour which kicks off in Manchester on November 23, 2010. It is Arch Enemy's only UK shows this year and as well as Malefice the bill also features Grand Magus and Chthonic.
Vocalist DALE BUTLER comments:
"We've spent a lot of this year in mainland Europe so as soon as we were asked to go out with Arch Enemy we snapped it up. We were reminded at Sonisphere why British crowds are renowned all over the world for being the best, so we can wait to get out in front of you lot again!"
Malefice's Metal Blade debut album, Dawn Of Reprisal can be purchased on MetalBlade.com HERE, on iTunes HERE, and on Amazon HERE.
