Metal Blade Records is pleased to announce the signing of extreme modern metal act SYSTEM DIVIDE, featuring Sven De Caluwe (Aborted) and Miri Milman (ex-Distorted) on vocals, Cole Martinez (ex-Years Of Fire, Antenora) and Joseph Spiller (ex-The Binary Code) on guitars, Andrew Lenthe (Antenora) on bass, and Mike Heller (Malignancy) on drums. SYSTEM DIVIDE has already completed a video for the song The Apex Doctrine off the bands current EP, which will also be on the band’s full-length Metal Blade debut. Check out a trailer for the new video below and be sure to head over to SYSTEM DIVIDE’s MySpace page to listen to the tracks The Apex Doctrine and (n)Ether. Vocalist Sven De Caluwe comments: “We couldn't be more thrilled to be part of the Metal Blade roster, a label that has been pushing the boundaries of extreme music and putting lots of great new acts in the spot light. We know SYSTEM DIVIDE is in the hands of a competent team of driven music FANS in the first place who believe in what we do, and we're going to give them their money's worth!!
We are completing the songwriting for our first album The Conscious Sedation and are about to enter the studio to start tracking by the end of the month, for those who checked out our EP, get ready for some surprises and more extreme modern metal madness! Rock 'n roll!!”
"Heavy, Brutal, Extreme, Melodic In Your Face Metal. These ingredients result in a unique visual and audio assault that numbs the senses. Vocalists Sven De Caluwe (Aborted) and Miri Milman (ex-Distorted), deliver a one-two punch unseen in Metal. We are very proud to add them to the Metal Blade Records family” comments Michael Faley of Metal Blade Records
About the band:
Founded in the summer of 2008, SYSTEM DIVIDE set out to revolutionize the conventions of the over-saturated melodic death metal genre, proving that extreme metal can have more depth than blast beats, while female vocals do not have to conform to the precepts of the “Goth” genre. In mixing many styles, The Collapse, the band’s debut EP, breaks all the rules of extreme metal and is a landmark release for the new band.
As opposed to interjecting simple, predictable clean choruses into contrived song structures, SYSTEM DIVIDE unites serene female vocals and extreme vocals driven by lyrical themes that confront and seek to break everyday themes of disillusionment, societal materialism, and individual apathy. Musically, the band delivers myriad styles of riffing and grooves, while augmenting the entrancing soundscapes with hard-hitting drums and intricate bass lines. These elements together define the unique, spell binding, hypnotic sound of SYSTEM DIVIDE.
In order to achieve this complex calculus of sounds on The Collapse, Cole Martinez handled tracking duties at Conquistador Recordings. Mixing and mastering duties were handled by Jacob Hansen (Aborted, HateSphere, Volbeat) at Hansen Studios in Denmark in April and May 2009. Artwork for The Collapse was completed by Colin Marks (Strapping Young Lad, Aborted, Nevermore). The result is a sonic and visual masterpiece that metal has eagerly been waiting for.
The band recruited Joseph Spiller (ex-The Binary Code) as a second guitarist shortly after the release of The Collapse and continued writing for its first full length, The Conscious Sedation, due out early 2010. Following the philosophy of don’t break up a winning team, the band once again will record with producer/engineer Cole Martinez and mix with Jacob Hansen in Denmark. A video has been shot for The Apex Doctrine by Kevin Custer (Hatebreed, Testament, Dope, Dying Fetus, Suffocation) and will hitting airways soon.

Impious “Death Domination” full album stream on TheGauntlet.com!
Swedish death metal veterans, Impious, are poised to unleash their third album on Metal Blade Records, Death Domination. We could tell you all day long how good this band is, how they’ve been crushing audiences worldwide since 1994, and how their new album is a crushing slab of death metal - OR, you could head on over to TheGauntlet.com and stream Death Domination in its entirety and judge for yourself!
Guitarist Valle Adzic adds about the album: “Death Domination is our sixth album, and I must say it's the first time I'm actually really happy about how the end result turned out. It just gets my engines pumping, you know? We're talking about ultra brutal death metal here, but still it has those memorable hooks somehow. Death Domination is a team effort that's as honest as it can get. We're not trying to be original or something, we've simply just worked hard on making the best songs we can come up with, and then get that on tape. I think people will notice that rock solid energy and confidence, and I hope they'll appreciate the album as much as we do. It's our fastest most aggressive record to this date for sure.”
Death Domination will be available on these dates in the following territories:
North America - 11.24.09
Germany/Austria/Switzerland: 20.11.09
Europe: 23.11.09
As I Lay Dying issues update from the studio! As I Lay Dying is currently holed up with Adam D. and Daniel Castleman at Lambesis Studios in San Diego, CA. They’re hard at work recording and writing their follow up to 2007’s An Ocean Between Us. The band will be recording and writing throughout the rest of 2009 and vocalist Tim Lambesis has issued the following update via the band’s myspace page:
“We've released little bits of information here or there in previous news posts and blogs, but there are still questions coming in concerning what we've been up to. Below is an unquestionably obvious outline concerning our future plans… 1) We started working on new album. 2) We started recording the new album a few weeks ago with Adam D & Daniel Castleman at the reigns (and JMR for a couple weeks). 3) There are only drums for 8 songs tracked so far. One of them we're undecided about, but maybe it'll feel different when the vocals are done. Either way, we need write more than 8 songs (since they aren't as long as the 8 songs on Master of Puppets). Therefore we're working on writing MORE new songs as soon as we finish recording what's been started. 4) The only break in working on the new album will be our short trip to Mexico and Sri Lanka to play two of the best shows of our career. 5) All of us can't stress enough how grateful we are to be writing music that we love while still receiving a paycheck. This can only be credited to OUR LOYAL FANS! Sometimes bands need to rush out a crappy record so they can start touring again to pay their bills. In our case, we plan to make a record worth listening to (hopefully), and start touring again when we're done. Thanks for your patience and understanding. We care and we're working. In fact, I haven't had a full nights rest since March when the coolest kid ever made me a DAD!”
As Tim mentioned, the band will be playing in Mexico City, Mexico and one very special show all the way over in Sri Lanka.

SIX FEET UNDER unveils track listing to GRAVEYARD CLASSICS 3!
Tampa, FL's kings of groove laden death metal SIX FEET UNDER are back with their 3rd installment of the band's cover series, Graveyard Classics 3, due out on Metal Blade Records January 19th 2010. Graveyard Classics 3 was recorded at D.O.I. Digital Audio in Tampa, FL, was mixed at Audiohammer Studios by Mark Lewis, and was produced by Chris Barnes.
Here's what the godfather of gore and death Chris Barnes has to say about the band's latest chapter in the Graveyard Classics chain:
"We went about picking the tracks for this installment of Graveyard Classics by really just trying to search out songs from early on in our musical upbringing, as well as tracks from when we were just fans of heavy music, before we started playing in a band. Once again choosing songs that have really stuck with us over the years, also choosing the songs that we felt would sound interesting when played in the SFU 'death groove' style.
Through the years of doing covers, many of our fans have inquired about us covering a Slayer or a Metallica song. It was really something we wanted to do for some time, those two bands being our biggest influences, as well as influencing a generation of death metal musicians.
To sum it up…this is a tribute to honor the great teachers that have influenced us as well as the world of metal we all belong to. We hope our fans will enjoy."
Track listing for Graveyard Classics 3:
1. A Dangerous Meeting - Mercyful Fate
2. Metal On Metal - Anvil
3. The Frayed Ends Of Sanity - Metallica
4. At Dawn They Sleep - Slayer
5. Not Fragile - Bachman Turner Overdrive
6. On Fire - Van Halen
7. Pounding Metal - Exciter
8. Destroyer - Twisted Sister
9. Psychotherapy - The Ramones
10. Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck - Prong

“I don't know if it's their wealth of experience, pure talent, or sheer love of the music, but this band has just the right energy and atmosphere to unload classic, kick-ass death metal even in this day and age, without sounding too modern or like a complete throwback.” AversionOnline.com
“Rarely do Death Metal performances come across clean and powerful on live albums, but these three tracks are quite amazing.” Metal-Rules.com
“True to their World War II themes, "Warsaw Rising" and "Liberators" roll like tanks, while the doomy stomp of Twisted Sister's "Destroyer" is a surprisingly good fit.” InvisibleOranges.com
"When you think there's no hope left for brutal music, where every band sounds the same, HAIL OF BULLETS comes along and just level everything with the ground. Pretenders - move over!" Silenoz/DIMMU BORGIR

Lazarus A.D. issues update from Ensiferum/Blackguard tour!
Lazarus A.D.’s Jeff Paulick checks in from the road!
“What’s good dwellers of the Lazarus legion?!? Giving you a quick update from the road on our last-second venture with Ensiferum and Blackguard. Shit has been pretty awesome thus far. We left late Friday night, after the guys went and saw Job for a Cowboy, Gwar, and LoG in our hometown, the show was pretty fucking sick, headed off to Allentown, PA where the infamous Croc Rock pizza awaited…it wasn’t so hot haha! We really had no idea what to expect as this tour as it’s a little bit different genre-wise. It’s been hit or miss, but for the most part I think it’s getting through. Hopefully Peter and Alexi can get into the country asap so Hypocrisy can start tearing it up every night as well! The second night we played at Volume 11 in Raleigh, NC…and we have a little history there. As our previous three visits we laid a goose egg on merch every time, this time through, we finally got some good merch sales and had some very generous friends smoke us out, which meant our perception of Volume 11 did a huge 180! We grilled out that night with the guys from Blackguard (totally awesome brothers and an amazing band, definitely check them out!) shared a bottle of Jay-mo and woke to the sound of angry businessmen telling us to move our vehicle from their parking lot. We obviously denied the mess of beer cans strewn about the outside of the bus haha, but hey, I didn’t know anything about that!! After Atlanta we drove straight to Jacksonville, FL where some friends of ours reside, just dodging Ida on the way, very lucky there, our bus and trailer don’t mix with tropical storms. Our show was cancelled in Ft. Lauderdale which totally blew cuz we all were really looking forward to heading to the beach down south. SO, we made up for it and spent the day at Universal Studios, and needless to say, it was fucking awesome. Most of us had never been there before and it’s easily one of the most fun parks I’ve ever been to. It was a pretty cloudy day so NOBODY was there; we went on everything multiple times through. We shared some drinks and lunch at the Hard Rock (we saw Dime’s Crown Royal Guitar and Vinnie’s full Pearl set used at the show where Dime was shot, pretty intense shit). Met up with the guys from Blackguard and hit some coasters with them. We grabbed a hotel and passed the fuck out as I had been up for 36 hours straight ensuring we could make this awesome day happen in time. Last night was Orlando, FUCK downtown Orlando parking. We had to park a mile away after we unloaded, after we played had to come back again, and then there was some confusion with payment as we were playing this Anti Pop festival, which had a million shows going on, the city was fucking packed, so we sat double parked on a one way street in front of the venue until payment was received haha…and it was. Long drive ahead to Texas and then to CALI!! Can’t fucking wait, I’ll be throwing some more updates at ya next week, until then spread the word that we are on “The Tour from Afar” with Ensiferum, Hypocrisy, and Blackguard, then hopping on with Vader and Warbringer for a couple weeks, see all you fucks on the road!!! Oh and there’s a video coming soon of what we do most while on the road…COD…constantly haha! Light em up and drink em down!”
