Unearth recently completed a full European tour in support of Heaven Shall Burn. "strong, dynamic songwriting…it highlights Unearth's strengths superbly." Decibel Magazine
"a whirling torrent of passion and aggression" 4/5, Terrorizer Magazine
"it's the bands reawakened urgency and positivity that makes this like discovering them for the first time again." Metal Hammer Magazine
"Darkness In The Light is a maelstrom of melodic riffs, screamy shouts and enough noodling to keep Guitar Hero nerds happy. But it’s not chasing maidens and slaying dragons; Unearth have enough of the '90s straight-edge hardcore scene still left in their blood to give the lyrics an impassioned warrior cry against corrupt politics and wavering faith." 4/5, Alternative Press Magazine

"Darkness in the Light" available worldwide now
Agoura Hills, CA - February 13th, 2012 - Unearth's new video for Watch It Burn from Darkness in the Light is now streaming EXCLUSIVELY on metalinjection.net! We want to thank Scott Hansen and his crew for their hard work delivering such a sick video for our fans to see. Check it out!"

UNEARTH introduces Nick Pierce as their new drummer!
Fans that have seen Unearth live on their recent trips to Alaska, Japan and on their US and Canadian tour with Chimaira, may have noticed a new face on stage. The guy behind the kit has been none other than up-and-coming drummer, Nick Pierce.
Nick Pierce is a self taught drummer who's been playing since age 10. He grew up playing for local bands in the Seattle/Tacoma area (Culling the Weak, Eterna Nocturna, Embalmed) as well as LA based band The Faceless. Nick first sat in behind the kit for Unearth in May of 2011 during their two show trip to Alaska. Unearth discovered Pierce on YouTube where he had been covering Unearth songs, among many other bands, on a series of videos on his YouTube channel.
Vocalist Trevor Phipps adds: "Nick is a beast of a drummer and a great guy to hang with. I look forward to jamming with him around the world for years to come." Guitarist Buz McGrath compliments Pierce and says he has a "Great attitude, energy and the knowledge that we can throw the most insane riffs at him and he can create and adequately perform next level beats for said riffs makes it a little easier to sleep at night."
Nick Pierce shares his excitement about joining Unearth: "I've been a fan of Unearth for many years and I'm excited to shred with a great group of guys and support our fans."
A live video of Pierce performing "Watch It Burn" live on tour has been made available on Metal Blade TV HERE. Drum aficionados and fans should subscribe to Pierce's youtube channel for more drum videos, as well as a new eight-minute extended drum solo, which can be seen HERE.
Unearth's latest album, Darkness In The Light, is available everywhere now. The album has seen rave reviews, hundreds of spins on SiriusXM Liquid Metal, Full Metal Jackie and metal radio worldwide. Check out what's been said so far…

Jägermeister presents tour with co-headliners UNEARTH and Chimaira
Since the band’s genre defining release The Oncoming Storm, UNEARTH has continuously crisscrossed the globe, becoming one of the hardest – and most consistent – touring bands in all of hard rock. With Darkness In the Light, their fifth full-length, the quintet have delivered their most honest, powerful, and compelling statement to date, driving a fist into the collective gut of every image-obsessed wannabe metal band currently cluttering up the landscape, and setting a new standard when it comes to marrying precision brute force and exhilarating melody.
Earning themselves Top 200 Billboard Chart entries for all four of the band’s Metal Blade releases (The Oncoming Storm, III: In the Eyes of Fire, The March, and Darkness in the Light), UNEARTH is once again prepared to take the world by storm when they hit the road this fall with Cleveland, OH’s Chimaira. The tour will be joined by Athens, OH’s Skeletonwitch and Las Vegas, NV’s Molotov Solution.
Jägermeister, the brand that’s synonymous with music has a long history of supporting bands, both from a local and basement level to national amphitheater acts. The brand has spent almost two decades developing artists and has seen many go from obscurity to the top of their fields. “Both bands symbolize the attitude that Jägermeister shares with hard rock and metal music,” says Bill Henderson, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Advertising at Sidney Frank Importing Company, Inc. “Chimaira and UNEARTH have both worked with our brand for several years and it’s great that we can continue the relationship with this tour.”
“We are incredibly pleased to announce this fall's Jägermeister tour in North America,” says Trevor Phipps of UNEARTH. “We will be supporting our new album Darkness in the Light and are anxious to play more tracks from that album. Hitting the road with us will be our old friends in Chimaira, Skeletonwitch and soon to be new friends in Molotov Solution. We would like to thank Jägermeister for supporting this tour and we look forward to seeing you all on the road! Let's make this a fall tour to remember!!! Cheers!!!”
Tickets will be on sale to the general public starting September 23 through each venue’s ticketing outlet. Please check local listings or UNEARTH’s website HERE for more details.

Darkness In The Light is currently streaming in its entirety via Alternative Press Magazine's website. To check it out, point your browser HERE.
On Darkness In The Light, the quintet seamlessly fuse technical precision, brute force and exhilarating melody into a record that Crave.com calls, "a first rate slice of metal that helps return the meat to the hollowed and empty husk of the metalcore genre." Adds Decibel: "What they bring to the table every single time is a sense of vitality; Whether they're tearing up a club at a headlining gig, opening for another band on a few square feet of stage space or blasting through headphones, that unmistakable energy is always there."

UNEARTH: Worldwide Album Premiere Hosted By Alternative Press
Today, Alternative Press hosts a worldwide album premiere of UNEARTH's upcoming Darkness In The Light full-length, scheduled to hit North American record shelves on July 5, 2011, via Metal Blade Records. The 11-track long player was recorded at Zing Studios in Westfield, Massachusetts with producer (and Killswitch Engage guitarist) Adam Dutkiewicz and mixed at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida by Mark Lewis (The Black Dahlia Murder, Whitechapel, Trivium, et al). Sitting in on drums during the recording was Justin Foley (Killswitch Engage/Blood Has Been Shed).
Comments vocalist Trevor Phipps of the record: "This album is without a doubt some of the heaviest, most dynamic and memorable tunes we've ever written. The disc is littered with the shred 'n' stomp-filled songs our fans would expect from us, as well as some added vocal hooks, guitar melodies, guitar solos and some different paths taken in style and structure. We knew we had to continue to separate ourselves from the pack and to cement our place in the heavy metal world as one of the leaders and not as one of the many followers that seem to hop on the trend wagon and give up so easily when the going gets hard. We are here to stay and collectively we couldn't be any more fired up to play these songs around the world for our fans new and old. So check it out, spread the word of underground metal and leave some feedback. See you on the road!"
To check out Darkness In The Light in its entirety, point your browser HERE. The stream will run from June 20 to July 5, the day the record hits streets.
With Darkness In The Light, the quintet have delivered their most honest and powerful statement to date, setting a new standard when it comes to marrying precision brute force and exhilarating melody. Fangoria.com commended the band in an advance review noting: "Tight riffing, varying from technical pedal-style patterns to twin-harmony Maiden/At The Gates worship, plus all the brutally chugging breakdowns, will surely serve to inspire many a karate kick in the pits come tour time. This is definitely music to move by… " Pit Riff said Darkness In The Light is, "powerful, has the right amount of grab to it, and definitely has the spit-filled rage lyrically that this kind of music once possessed before being softened for the mall kids," while Crave added: "Darkness In The Light is a first rate slice of metal that helps return the meat to the hollowed and empty husk of the metalcore genre." Said Decibel of the band's unwavering vitality: "Whether they're tearing up a club at a headlining gig, opening for another band on a few square feet of stage space or blasting through headphones, that unmistakable energy is always there."

UNEARTH: Worldwide Premiere Of "Watch It Burn" On Lambgoat.com
Today, Lambgoat.com hosts the exclusive worldwide premiere of "Watch It Burn," the anthemesque opening track off UNEARTH's forthcoming Darkness In The Light full-length.
Blisteringly heavy both musically and thematically, vocalist Trevor Phipps comments: "'Watch It Burn' is the lead track from Darkness In The Light because we felt it captured the aggression and heaviness of the album while also staying true to our core sound from our earlier records. This is one of the only tunes without a guitar solo, but the harmonies are there to mix around one of the heaviest choruses we've ever written. The song is angry, fast and in-your-face while also allowing for a melodic bridge late in the song much like some of our older material. Lyrically, it is an anti-extremist song. It attacks both the left and right of the political spectrum while also calling into question extremist religious groups and their influence on our culture. All these political and religious extremists seem to manage to do is splinter society and turn people against each other that otherwise likely wouldn't be at odds. Basically we can put aside some meager differences and work to better ourselves or we can keep heading down this destructive path and eventually 'Watch It Burn.'"

Darkness In The Light is UNEARTH's fifth full-length. Scheduled for release in North America on July 5 via Metal Blade Records, the 11-track long player was recorded at Zing Studios in Westfield, Massachusetts with producer/Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz and mixed at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida by Mark Lewis (The Black Dahlia Murder, Whitechapel, Trivium, et al). Sitting in on drums during the recording was Justin Foley of Killswitch Engage/Blood Has Been Shed.
Both long term fans and those just getting to know the band for the first time will be struck by the sheer vitality and unconstrained energy surging through Darkness In the Light's near 40-minute run time. Said Fangoria.com in an early review of the record: "Tight riffing, varying from technical peddle-style patterns, to twin harmony Maiden/At The Gates worship, and all the brutally chugging breakdowns, will surely serve to inspire many a karate kick in the pits, come tour time."

UNEARTH: Worldwide Premiere Of New Track, "Ruination Of The Lost," Brought To You By MetalSucks
Today popular metal portal MetalSucks hosts the worldwide premiere of UNEARTH's "Ruination Of The Lost," the explosive second track off the band's upcoming Darkness In The Light full-length.
Commented vocalist Trevor Phipps: "'Ruination Of The Lost' is a pummeling front end album song that showcases our mix of both American and European metallic influences with an apocalyptic lyrical theme. Buz [McGrath] and Ken [Susi] both rip some serious guitar solos in the tune and their guitar harmonies are hauntingly catchy. This one is a high energy shredder while lyrically it speaks about the end of the human race in the not so distant future if we continue to destroy our planet with the current level of disregard year after year. It's hard for me to understand why people still let money and politics interfere with any real positive change even with the warning signs Mother Nature has given us. The title of the song refers to the self-destructive nature of the human race and how we are collectively so lost in our lust for money and power that we are destroying the world that gave us life in the first place."

Charging out of the late '90s Massachusetts underground in a storm of thunderous riffs and focused aggression, in 2011 UNEARTH proudly stand at the forefront of modern metal. With fifth full-length, Darkness In The Light, the quintet have delivered their most honest, powerful, and compelling statement to date, driving a fist into the collective gut of every image-obsessed wannabe metal band currently cluttering up the landscape, and setting a new standard when it comes to marrying precision brute force and exhilarating melody. Slated for North American release via Metal Blade Records July 5, the 11-track long player was recorded at Zing Studios in Westfield, Massachusetts with producer (and Killswitch Engage guitarist) Adam Dutkiewicz and mixed at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida by Mark Lewis (The Black Dahlia Murder, Whitechapel, Trivium, et al). Today, Liquid Metal (SiriusXM 40) will host the exclusive premiere of UNEARTH's "Shadows In The Light," the third track off the band's upcoming and eagerly-anticipated Darkness In The Light full-length!
Said vocalist Trevor Phipps: "'Shadows In The Light' is a tune that showcases everything UNEARTH has ever brought to the table from the aggressive to melodic sides both musically and vocally. This is probably the most 'dynamic' song on the album, but also one of the hardest hitters…and catchiest. We set out to make this album heavy as hell, while also keeping the listener interested with some memorable moments. We hope this tune becomes a staple in our live set this summer and beyond. Lyrically the song is about never standing down even when your enemies or any sort of personal or worldly defeat seems to be bearing down on you."
To check out "Shadows In The Light," tune in to Liquid Metal TODAY at 4:00 PM (EST)!

The tour will make a 26 date trek across the country beginning on July 9th at the San Manuel Amphitheater in San Bernardino, California. Tune in to www.rockstarmayhemfest.com and www.livenation.com for up-to-date ticketing information.
This summer's mainstage artists, DISTURBED, GODSMACK, and MEGADETH, will be joined by a ferocious mix of the best hard rock and metal artists of today. For the first time in festival history, through their success, IN FLAMES, MACHINE HEAD and TRIVIUM have grown through the ranks to now perform on the mainstage in rotating slots throughout the tour.
ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAYHEM FESTIVAL is thrilled to see the return of festival veterans DISTURBED, MACHINE HEAD, TRIVIUM, and SUICIDE SILENCE.
The JAGERMEISTER stage will feature UNEARTH, KINGDOM OF SORROW, RED FANG, and the winners of JAGERMEISTER Battle of the Bands. The Extreme Stage will spotlight SUICIDE SILENCE, ALL SHALL PERISH and STRAIGHT LINE STITCH.
The 4th annual ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAYHEM FESTIVAL will also feature ROCKSTAR METAL MULISHA JUMP TEAM, the World's Greatest Freestyle Motocross team.
UNEARTH's front man Trevor Phipps adds; "All of us in UNEARTH are beyond ready to get out there for the Rockstar Mayhem tour this summer and bring the high energy metal show we've been smashing audiences around the World with for years. Mayhem has many "firsts" for us this year as it is our first tour on the new album (due out late June on Metal Blade Records), our first ever appearance on the Rockstar Mayhem Tour and our first North American summer festival tour since 2006! Get ready for the metal, mosh and mayhem that UNEARTH has become synonymous with. See you all this summer!"
ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAYHEM FESTIVAL attendees can enjoy a plethora of festival activities, including perusing vendors, attending autograph signing sessions and a slew of other interactive activities that enhance the concert experience. It's a 10 hour trip to heavy nirvana.
Complete information on the 2011 ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAYHEM FESTIVAL line-up is available at www.rockstarmayhemfest.com. There fans can also check out exclusive video clips of official ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAYHEM FESTIVAL correspondent, radio personality, author and scene icon, Full Metal Jackie introducing this year's tour, plus a special appearance by one of this year's mainstage performers!
On Sirius XM Liquid Metal on Monday morning at 12pm PST, listeners heard live, exclusive updates and information straight from the source! Famously extreme Sirius XM radio personality Jose Mangin sat down with ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAYHEM FESTIVAL tour co-producer John Reese, who unveiled the official 2011 ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAYHEM FESTIVAL line-up. Sirius XM will be the first radio destination that fans can learn about the certified line-up and special insider information from one of the tour's established organizers. Stay tuned into Liquid Metal after the interview for exclusive conversations with some of this year's performers.
ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAYHEM FESTIVAL is produced by Rockstar Taste of Chaos organizer John Reese, Vans Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman and Creative Artists Agency. The trio has made the ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAYHEM FESTIVAL a standout on the summer concert circuit by following the proven model of utilizing sponsorship to deliver a lower ticket price and an enhanced concert experience. This year sees them joining forces once again with ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK as the title sponsor.
"Metal is ALIVE and WELL in 2011," states tour producer John Reese. "Each year the tour gets bigger and better and 2011 is no exception. This group of artists this year are going to apply a big, bad, metal shellacking for the fans across the USA and Canada."
"ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAYHEM FESTIVAL 2011 is a true mix of molten veterans and smoldering up-and-comers, who are bringing their A games and giving the fans nothing less of an amazing day," adds tour producer Kevin Lyman.
Live Nation is co-producer of the tour and will promote the festival nationally. Perry Lavoisne, SVP North American Touring for Live Nation, states, "The Mayhem team has delivered the best live metal line-up possible for four years in row, while creating a highly visible brand and value for fans of metal and hard rock. We anticipate another stellar run with DISTURBED, GODSMACK, MEGADETH and all the other bands uniting metal fans at every tour stop."
In 2008, the ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAYHEM FESTIVAL bulldozed onto the scene and quickly made itself known as the preeminent summer destination for the hard rock and metal community. ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAYHEM FESTIVAL boasts the most powerful artist line-ups in heavy music. Artists who have performed in ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAYHEM FESTIVAL's past include hard music legends SLAYER, SLIPKNOT, MARILYN MANSON, KORN, ROB ZOMBIE, LAMB OF GOD, HATEBREED, CANNIBAL CORPSE, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, MASTODON, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and many more. All have pummeled the stage, while delivering the intensity and heaviness that fans have grown to expect year after year.
See below for all current tour dates. When viewing, fans should take notice of the line-up changes on the San Bernardino, Mountain View and Montreal dates. On July 9th in San Bernardino, CA, Cartoon Network/Adult Swim's metal cartoon phenomenon DETHKLOK will perform in the place of MEGADETH, and colossal Bay Area thrash kings TESTAMENT will perform in the place of IN FLAMES. TESTAMENT will also perform in the place of IN FLAMES on the July 10th Mountain View, CA date. MEGADETH will not be appearing on the Montreal, QC Heavy MTL date. Other bands will be announced for Heavy MTL soon. Go to www.heavymtl.com for further information.
"DETHKLOK has decided to play one show this year," boasts Metalocalypse co-creator and DETHKLOK lead musician Brendon Small. "And that show is the Mayhem fest on July 9th. There is nothing more brutal than horrible hot putrid disgusting summer why not make it just a little more brutal, right? We are super honored to be a part of this amazing lineup! I can't wait!"

Unearth enter Zing Studios with Adam D; announce Justin Foley as studio drummer
Mark Lewis (The Black Dahlia Murder, Whitechapel, DevilDriver, Trivium) is slated to mix the album
Unearth has entered Zing Studios with producer Adam D. of Killswitch Engage fame. This album will be the follow up to 2009's The March, and will be followed by an intense touring schedule with a new, yet to be decided, full-time drummer in the lineup.
Vocalist Trevor Phipps has posted the following update:
"We wanted to let everyone know that tracking for the new album has officially begun! We're currently at Zing Studios in Westfield, MA tracking drums with our sit in drummer for the album Justin Foley of Killswitch Engage/Blood Has Been Shed. Foley was an obvious choice for this album for many reasons, but mainly because of his abilities and knowledge of heavy music as well as his long time friendship with the band. A decade plus of friendship has made this an easy transition for the band, Foley and our producer/engineer Adam D.
In other news, we have decided to change the mixing engineer for the album to Mark Lewis (The Black Dahlia Murder, White Chapel, Devil Driver, Trivium, etc.) from Audiohammer Studios. Mark is another long time friend of the band and we're excited to hear what he can do with our sound on record."
Guitarist Buz McGrath added this irrelevant comment about working with Mark; "Mark Lewis mixed me a drink once and I woke up in a swamp covered in anti-freeze."
Phipps adds, "As we said before, we're aiming at a mid to late June release for the album followed by massive world touring. Below is a snapshot of the hard drive of the tunes being tracked (just working titles of course)."

UNEARTH recently parted ways with drummer Derek Kerswill due to creative differences. The band stated at the time, "The differences between Kerswill and the band started off as subtle, but became increasingly obvious over the past few months and it was time for both parties to go their separate ways."

UNEARTH parts ways with drummer Derek Kerswill
An update from Unearth:
"After three plus years of touring the world together and playing on our latest album "The March", we have parted ways with drummer Derek Kerswill. The most notable reason for the split are the creative differences. The time has come for Unearth to write a new album and creating music with a tight unit is the only way we can assure the best collection of songs possible. The differences between Kerswill and the band started off as subtle, but became increasingly obvious over the past few months and it was time for both parties to go their separate ways.
We have shared a ton of great experiences and achieved many of the goals we set for ourselves in the time he was in the band. There is no ill will from either side of this decision and we wish him only the best moving forward.
"Creative differences are real and unfortunately have gotten the best of me. I wish the guys luck in the future and thank you to everyone who ever loved + supported "The March"," Kerswill said.
Unearth won't skip a beat, though, as we will be announcing a replacement drummer for our upcoming European stint on the Persistence Tour shortly. Lastly some exciting plans are coming together for the recording to the follow up to "The March" sometime early in 2011."
Unearth's The March was released originally released on October 14, 2008, and a special edition with a bonus dvd was released on November 11, 2009. Unearth behind-the-scenes and production videos can be seen on MetalBlade.tv HERE.

Statement from UNEARTH about recent tragedy involving former bassist Chris "Rover" Rybicki
"On Monday, we lost our long time friend and original bass player Chris "Rover" Rybicki. He lost his life from injuries sustained three weeks ago at the hands of an alleged drunk driver. The article from that accident can be found HERE.
"Rover hadn't been in the band since 2001, but he remained a good friend to us all throughout the years and this tragedy has hit us hard.
"Not only was Rover a talented musician, but he was also one of the funniest dudes you would ever know. His wit, dark humor and don't give a fuck attitude made him a unique person that we all loved having in our lives. His memory will live on amongst his family and friends with the countless stories of Rover being Rover. He will be sorely and forever missed.
"Rover played on our our EP "Above the Fall of Man", our debut full length "The Stings of Conscience" and also on two tracks off our 2002 EP "Endless".
"We would like to take a second to urge people to not drink and drive. Please be responsible so these tragedies stop happening." - Unearth

UNEARTH and THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER To Tour Australia and Japan!
UNEARTH confirms European Tour with 36 Crazyfists!
After wrapping up their headlining run with the hugely successful Atticus Metal Tour II, UNEARTH are taking their show overseas. First, they'll conquer Japan, Australia and New Zealand with label mates, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER. Once that run is over, the guys are taking what will be one of the longest flights ever to the United Kingdom for a European tour with 36 Crazyfists.
UNEARTH vocalist Trevor Phipps comments: "What better way to spend our May and June than touring Japan, Australia and New Zealand with our buds in The Black Dahlia Murder and also hitting up much of Europe and the summer festivals with our boys in 36 Crazy Fists? I don't really see a point in trying to answer that question because there isn't a better answer. If you live in any of the places I mentioned, come on out, bang your heads, hit the pit, drink some beer and do some stupid shit. This is our last go around the World until 2011, so let's make this a rager for the ages. See you soon, World!"
UNEARTH's most recent album, The March, is available everywhere now: iTunes, Amazon.com, MetalBladeStore.com. Recent MetalBlade.tv footage is available of Trevor Phips killing some time on tour playing Trials HD on Xbox Live Arcade - watch him conquer one of the levels now on MetalBlade.tv!

Unearth to headline the Atticus Metal Tour 2; dates announced, special guests added!
Metal Blade Records and Atticus Clothing, in association with Revolver Magazine and Headbang for the Highway, are proud to announce the dates for this year’s Atticus Metal Tour II. With powerhouse veteran metal act, UNEARTH, at the helm, there is no telling when the carnage will end and the party will begin.
UNEARTH’s Trevor Phipps comments: "This is going to be our first North American Headlining tour in over a year and we are amped to get back out there. We'll be playing tunes from all of our albums, some extra deep cuts we haven't played in a while and some stuff we haven't played live yet from The March. We've been messing around with some different lights and stage set ups and will mix up the set each night, so it will be different from past tours. It's a solid package of bands and we can't wait to get on stage, play a headlining set and rage with our fans."
Joining UNEARTH on the tour are Stick To Your Guns, Veil Of Maya, The Ghost Inside and Carnifex. In addition to the tour lineup, Darkest Hour, Stray From The Path and Your Demise will be joining the party on select dates. Those dates and other details will be released on http://www.myspace.com/atticusmetaltour as they become available.

John “Slo” Maggard of Unearth to release book, "Bet On Black Journal"
“My new eBook, entitled Bet On Black Journal, will be released August 21, 2009. Written together with my long time friend and writer Corey Tomlinson, we're taking a look at casino gaming from the eyes of a touring musician. The book isn't only a guide to gaming either; we'll be talking with my fellow musicians to tell some of their stories on the accompanying web site and sharing some of my own experiences on the road and in the world's casinos.”
In support of this new release, I will be running some contests and drawings for some things such as instruments, casino nights, etc. I don't want this just to be about selling a book - the whole experience is for you, our fans, and I want it to be as interactive and entertaining as possible. I also have special plans in place to benefit a charity that's near and dear to my own life - I'll be sharing more news on that as the holidays approach.
Corey and I are looking forward to talking to as many of you as possible on the site soon.”
-Slo
Learn from the gambling exploits and methods of John “Slo” Maggard, bassist of the heavy metal outfit Unearth. With years of experience touring and gambling all over the world, Slo has applied his experience and talents to finding ways to swing the odds in your favor.
Whether you’ve gambled a thousand times or just turned 21 and are roaring to go and play for the first time, this book has something for you.

Unearth Comments on upcoming North American tour with Testament
New England metal giants UNEARTH are currently gearing up for their upcoming tour with Testament, which kicks off on May 2 in Seattle. The band is touring to support their critically acclaimed album, The March, which hit streets on October 14, 2008 and debuted at #45 on the Billboard Top 200. Revolver Magazine called The March a “magnificently majestic group effort” and praised it as “some of the smartest writing in metal.” The upcoming North American tour also features newcomers and label mates Lazarus A.D., rounding out the bill to one of pummeling metal and high speed thrash!
Vocalist Trevor Phipps commented on the tour: “I’ve been a fan of Testament since I was a kid, so it’ll be a great time each night for me. It’s always fun to play our set, and it’ll be awesome to catch Testament after we play. We’re gonna have six weeks of good times. It will also be cool to tour with our label mates, Lazarus A.D. They’re on their first record with Metal Blade. I heard their album last night, and it had some great shred parts. This whole tour is going to be a shred fest for sure!”
Unearth is touring on the massive success of The March, their third studio album with Metal Blade Records, which garnered fantastic reviews from the metal press upon its release:
“…unabashed soloing, huge hardcore breakdowns, and riffs, riffs, riffs.” - Metal Edge Magazine
“…their most powerful, defiant, and affecting release to date…A great album by anyone’s standards.” – Outburn
“The March is a complete return to form…The production is face-ripping, the pace barely allows time to pause for breath and once all 11 tracks are done, you’re left feeling equal parts exhausted and exhilarated.” – Kerrang!
“The lead guitar work smokes, the beatdowns are as insanely catchy as ever and there’s plenty to get excited about…Chocked with killer beatdowns and head-banging anthems” – Metal Hammer
“The March proves once and for all that Unearth is one mighty guitar band.” - Allmusic.com
“[The March is] undeniably solid and surpasses expectations laid from previous efforts” – blabbermouth.net
“Being such big fans of Testament, and to see this new appreciation of heavy thrash music, especially with the kids, is really something special,” added drummer Derek Kerswill. “Between Testament, us, and Lazarus AD, it’s a cool family of traveling thrash ridiculousness. We’re thankful to be out with a band that we’re not only fans of, but that slays are hard as they do. It blows my mind that the guys in Testament in their 40s, and they’re throwing down harder than kids in their 20s. We’re out there preaching the metal gospel, so the kids better bring a helmet cuz we’ll be knocking down walls everywhere we play!”
The tour is being presented by Revolver Magazine, with tickets and VIP packages available now!

Unearth and Lazarus A.D. to support Testament!
Bay Area thrash legends, Testament, are taking the stage once again for their first US headlining tour in support of the award-winning The Formation of Damnation. The band’s first new studio album in nine years won “Album of the Year” at the 2008 Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards. The tour will feature the classic lineup of vocalist Chuck Billy, guitarists Eric Peterson and Alex Skolnick, bassist Greg Christian, and drummer Paul Bostaph. Testament will be bringing along metalcore heroes UNEARTH and neo-thrashers LAZARUS A.D. The tour kicks off May 2.
The password for the Testament ticket pre-sale is “Damnation.” Links to purchase can be found below along with the individual tour dates. More details will follow regarding Meet and Greet and VIP ticket packages.
Singer Chuck Billy commented on the upcoming US headlining tour: “It was really exciting last summer touring with Judas Priest, Heaven and Hell, and Motorhead, playing in front of all the old-school as well as new-school metalheads. Now we look forward to CRUSHING on our first headline tour on the Damnation Vacation US run. Heavy metal forever!!!”
For over 20 years, Testament has remained committed to the thrash metal sound that brought them to prominence in the late 1980s. The band has never compromised its unmatched intensity or musicianship and has only continued to up the ante with each release.
The Formation of Damnation was named one of MySpace’s Top Albums for 2008 and found itself at the top of many year-end lists including #9 Rock Album of the Year on iTunes for 2008, #4 Album of 2008 in Revolver Magazine, #10 on Metal Edge Top 50 of 2008, #1 on Metal Maniacs Top 20 of 2008, and the #2 Brave Pick in Brave Words and Bloody Knuckles. The album also dominated metal radio, coming in at #1 on Sirius-XM’s metal channel, #1 on CMJ’s Loud Rock charts, and was the most played album on metal radio according to FMQB.
Combining elements of hardcore, thrash, and extreme metal, while also never overlooking the importance of thought-provoking lyrical ideas and concepts, UNEARTH has steadily become one of the leading lights in heavy metal. Over the years the quintet has played in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, South America, Mexico, Japan, Europe including the Netherlands and Russia, and has appeared on such renowned metal fests as Ozzfest and Download. They have also appeared on International festivals such as Rock Am Park, Rock Am Ring, Loud Park, Wacken and others. UNEARTH’s latest offering, The March, was released in October of 2008.
“THRASH OR DIE” is the motto LAZARUS A.D. have lived by since day one and their no holds barred attitude is equaled only by their will to become a leading force in modern metal. Their supreme level of creativity, musicianship and professionalism makes them an electrifying and engaging live act. Powered by only a three-song demo, they earned a spot opening for Anthrax and were the only unsigned band included on Earache Records’ Thrashing Like A Maniac compilation. After being signed by Metal Blade in 2008, LAZARUS A.D. released The Onslaught on March 3, 2009.
