Metal Blade's The Black Dahlia Murder, Whitechapel, and Six Feet Under set to decimate crowds on the Summer Slaughter Tour!

Metal Blade Records heavyweights THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, WHITECHAPEL, and SIX FEET UNDER are all confirmed to head out on the 5th annual Summer Slaughter Tour, presented by ESP Guitars and Indie Merch Store, which runs from July 21st through August 21st. Headlining the tour this summer is none other than Detroit MI's THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER with Knoxville, TN's WHITECHAPEL co-headlining the bill. Rounding out what is sure to be one of the summer's heaviest tours is Darkest Hour, SIX FEET UNDER, Dying Fetus, As Blood Runs Black, Oceano, Fleshgod Apocalypse, in addition to a special halftime performance by Powerglove.
What makes the 5th installment of Summer Slaughter so special is that the folks behind the tour are giving fans the opportunity to pick the band that will open the tour. Fans will get to pick from a list of 10 bands and place their vote on the tour's Facebook page HERE (deadline is April 11th). Voting is now open and Metal Blade Records very own DAWN OF ASHES are on the list so be sure to show your support and place your request for the extreme horror metal outfit. This tour is for the fans, so let your voice be heard.

Chimaira Guitarist Joins SFU!
Tampa, FL Death metallers, SIX FEET UNDER, has delivered the following update regarding the bands line up:
We would like to announce and welcome the addition of guitarist Rob Arnold (Chimaira) to the SIX FEET UNDER family! Just wanted to give you a SIX FEET UNDER band update and let you all know that we would like to announce our good friend Rob Arnold will be joining SFU as 2nd rhythm guitarist for upcoming touring duties, as well as collaborating on the new CD.
Chris Barnes comments; "I couldn't be happier about the new songs and line up! Rob and myself have been collaborating on new songs along with the bands new drummer, Kevin Talley (www.drummerkevintalley.com) for the past few months. We are all feeling really excited about the bands future, and the raw intensity of the songs that we have created together so far. THIS IS THE HEAVIEST MOST EXCITING MATERIAL THAT IVE WORKED ON SINCE THE BLEEDING, AND IM STOKED THAT ROB WILL BE HELPING OUT CREATING THIS CD WITH US! Rob Arnold comments; "It's been an amazing honor and opportunity to have been called upon by one of my biggest idols, Chris Barnes!! SIX FEET UNDER and the Barnes era Cannibal stuff had enormous effects on me as a young musician, and still do to this day. In 1996, I was a kid in the front row screaming my head off to 'Lycanthropy' and 'Torn to the Bone'…and now here I am, being asked to play the songs on stage with the band! Dreams do come true!!! SIX FEET UNDER offer statement regarding recent lineup change – new album in the works!
The king of Death Metal, CHRIS BARNES, has just released the following statement to SIX FEET UNDER fans in regard to the recent lineup changes in the band:
To the loyal fans of Six Feet Under -
Our long time friends and band mates, Terry Butler (bass) and Greg Gall (drums), have decided to move on and depart from SFU. Steve Swanson (guitar) and I are grateful for all the fun times we've shared together through the years, and wish them the best of luck in their musical endeavors.
Just to fill you all in, Steve and I are very excited about the future of the SFU. I have been working hard on writing the new SFU material for the past 4 months with a new writing partner. More updates on that later…
I will make this guarantee and promise to all the fans of Six Feet Under; the new lineup will be a DEATH METAL force to be dealt with, with the long awaited addition of a brutal as fuck drummer and riffs that will rip your face off, vocals ala 1993-1995…

SIX FEET UNDER post new track off of Graveyard Classics 3!
Tampa, FL’s kings of groove laden death metal SIX FEET UNDER are back with their 3rd installment of the band’s cover series, Graveyard Classics 3, due out on Metal Blade Records January 19th 2010. In support of the upcoming release, SFU has unleashed the very first single from the album on their MySpace page HERE. The first single off of Graveyard Classics 3 is a cover of Slayer’s track ‘At Dawn They Sleep’ off of the groups ‘Hell Awaits’ album.
Here’s what vocalist Chris Barnes has to say about the track:
“We chose the track ‘At Dawn They Sleep’ to be the first single off of Graveyard Classics 3. We’ve wanted to do a Slayer song for a while and lots of our fans have been requesting that we do a Slayer song as well; ‘At Dawn They Sleep’ really seemed like it would lend itself to our style. And to be honest I’ve always preferred the early Slayer stuff, ‘Hell Awaits’ and prior. I think the production and song structure of their early recordings are raw and in your face, in a very dynamic way, and that’s the type of band SFU is, so it seemed to fit on a bunch of different levels. We fucking love Slayer!”

Here’s what the godfather of gore and death Chris Barnes has to say about the band’s latest chapter in the Graveyard Classics chain:
“We went about picking the tracks for this installment of Graveyard Classics by really just trying to search out songs from early on in our musical upbringing, as well as tracks from when we were just fans of heavy music, before we started playing in a band. Once again choosing songs that have really stuck with us over the years, also choosing the songs that we felt would sound interesting when played in the SFU ‘death groove’ style.
Through the years of doing covers, many of our fans have inquired about us covering a Slayer or a Metallica song. It was really something we wanted to do for some time, those two bands being our biggest influences, as well as influencing a generation of death metal musicians.
To sum it up…this is a tribute to honor the great teachers that have influenced us as well as the world of metal we all belong to. We hope our fans will enjoy.“
