NIGHTFALL
"Astron Black & the Thirty Tyrants"
RELEASED: 08.31.2010
NIGHTFALL release new video clip for "Astron Black" exclusively via Metal Blade TV!
Athenian Symphonic Death Metallers NIGHTFALL have released the video clip for the title track of their latest album Astron Black!

Surf over to Metal Blade TV HERE to check out Astron Black!

Comments director Achilleas Gatsopoulos: "We decided not to go safe and continue with the shadow puppet approach for the second video too, even though there is still a lot of space for experimentation within that. Instead, I came up with an entirely different style that would add yet another facet to the complex task of visualising Nightfall's music.

Working with the lyrics and with Efthimis conceptual guidance, I set up a vast backdrop of space and time for our characters to inhabit, incorporating various planetary and astronomical elements. The characters include mythical deities such as Gaia, Prometheus, Venus / Pandora, as well as Astron Black, who symbolises mankind and its progress through time.

The video also incorporates Pandora's myth from Hesiod's Theogony. Gaia gives birth to stars and deities, to Prometheus. Prometheus stole the fire (also a metaphor for knowledge and practical thought) and gave it to man. Zeus punished Prometheus by binding him to a rock where the great eagle would come and eat his intestines every day. As an act of revenge on mankind, he creates Pandora, the first woman. Here we present Venus Pandora, who also posseses the power of sexual desire over man. Her curiosity proves fatal, as she opens the urn bestowed to her by the Gods, unleashing all evils upon mankind, leaving only hope inside.

The style of the video brings together various elements such as stylish costumes, live action footage and CGI, adding a modern approach to the ancient but timeless imagery of our characters and situations. I truly believe that once again we managed to successfully recreate and enhance the lyrical and musical themes and create something unique that will stand the test of time stylistically."

NIGHTFALL released their critically acclaimed comeback album Astron Black & the Thirty Tyrants in the summer of 2010!

NIGHTFALL launch video for "Ambassador Of Mass" exclusively on metalblade.com/nightfall!
Greek Metal Gods NIGHTFALL have launched the first video clip for their upcoming new album Astron Black And The Thirty Tyrants on their landing page. Click HERE to check out the video for the song "Ambassador Of Mass"!

NIGHTFALL singer Efthimis Karadimas comments the clip: "The story depicted is inspired by the Greco-Persian wars in the 5th century BC. The video is purely based on the ancient technique of Shadow Puppet Theatre evolved and widely used in different areas of the world eons ago. Every character, ship, map, etc you see in it has been built from scratch especially for that motion clip. The video has been directed by Achilleas Gatsopoulos, a prominent master of visual arts, based in the city of Berlin. I am sure you haven't seen anything similar around!"

Comments director Achilleas Gatsopoulos: "After our initial talks and meetings with Efthimis, we decided to approach the video in a challenging and unconventional way. We chose to use shadow puppetry and push its boundaries through modern technology in order to create something really unique; something that could best convey the epic scale of our story. Considerable research ensued, and the storyline was constructed according to the structure and lyrics of the song, sprinkled with a touch of mythology, while staying true to the actual historical facts. The design and construction of the puppets were done in collaboration with fine artist Hara Kolaiti, referencing on the one hand the Ancient Greek vases' depictions of greek warriors of the time, and on the other, the numerous detailed reliefs of Xerxes and his warriors in Persepolis. In total, more than thirty meticulously detailed puppets and backgrounds were created for the video. These were shot one by one and then composited into scenes digitally. The aim was to take Shadow Puppetry as a traditional medium, and explore its cinematic potential. Thus, scenes were created both in two dimensional space, as well as in three dimensional epic camera shots. The result is a truly original and unconventional music video that best complements Efthimis' musical vision."

The band claims Astron Black And The Thirty Tyrants is the best NIGHTFALL album so far, raising expectations to the maximum. "We have worked hard and we've put lots energy and effort in the details of the production. The outcome is massive and believe can attract any metal fan's attention."

The powerful Athenian act is now running on an ingenious combustible engine made of Greek, American and German blend and is aiming high. Dare to join!

The album's artwork has been created by Travis Smith (Opeth, Death, Nevermore, Katatonia a.o.). It is unique and beyond Mr. Smith's typical patterns.

'Astron Black And The Thirty Tyrants' was recorded in various places with Soundlodge (Germany) being the main studio. It has been produced by Efthimis Karadimas ('Athenian Echoes') and co produced by Jorg Uken (known from his work with God Dethroned, Dew Scented, and Sinister).

About NIGHTFALL:
Since forming the band in the early 1990's, NIGHTFALL frontman and mastermind Efthimis Karadimas has always strived to push the musical boundaries that the group explores, along with poetical written passages that intrigue the fatigue of a volatile nous. After a few lineup changes over the years, Efthimis Karadimas has reassembled his musical vehicle with a fresh crop of co-pilots to pull together the forthcoming Astron Black and the Thirty Tyrants, even branching out internationally for the first time. German drummer Jörg Uken (the mind behind Soundlodge Studios, Germany) brought his blend of thrash 'n' death pounding to the record while also handling production and engineering duties. Keyboardist Stathis Kassios provides an awe-inspiring layer of harmonious texture and accentuation that rushes the music into unexplored territory. Finally, American guitarist Evan Hensley delivers aggressive, precise riffing and melodic lead work, rich with texture and emotion. All of these new additions perfectly complement Karadimas' full-force vocal delivery and trademark poetry to make Astron Black and the Thirty Tyrants the most ambitious offering in the history of the band.

For fans of Dark Tranquillity, Setherial, Arch Enemy, Amon Amarth, Children of Bodom, Soilwork, Amorphis, and Scar Symmetry

About KING OF ASGARD:
KING OF ASGARD was formed in 2008 by Karl Beckman when he teamed up with long time absent fellow worker, Karsten Larsson, a former accomplice in the defunct viking horde, Mithotyn. As a result, after years apart, the decision was made to go back to their roots both musically as well as heading for their Norse heritage in lyrical approach.

Determined to make the next album as best as it could be, KING OF ASGARD immediately checked studios out and ended up booking Sonic Train Studios with Andy La Rocque at the helm. Recordings of the debut album of KING OF ASGARD took place in March of 2010. The scheme is to leave the studio with twelve dirty folk-stinking songs in the extreme metal realm.

KING OF ASGARD feature members of among other former/active acts such as Mithotyn, Falconer, Thy Primordial, Indungeon and Dawn and will be releasing their Metal Blade debut album in August, 2010!

For fans of Mithotyn, Amon Amarth, Primordial, Eluveitie, Turisas, Ensiferum, and Finntroll
