Video for "LAST BREATH" to be made by fans

Lazarus A.D. is currently in the studio and Belle City Sound in Racine, WI recording their follow up to The Onslaught. While recording their newest material, the band and Metal Blade Records have launched a contest where fans can create the music video for one of the band's oldest songs, Last Breath. This song was featured on the band's original 3 song demo and was written when all of the guys were still in high school.

Bassist/vocalist Jeff Paulick comments: "We are so stoked for this contest. "Last Breath" has been a fan favorite since the get go back in '05, and we never got a chance to make the video! We can't wait to see what fans submit, no matter how awesome or ridiculous it may be! We hooked up with ESP for an awesome grand prize, and I think it's a killer concept for the fans. Good luck to all who enter."

There will be three winners: First place receives an ESP LTD MH-103QM STB guitar signed by the band, as well as a t-shirt and a copy of the upcoming new album. Lazarus A.D. thrash with Japanese fans at Loud Park
Wisconsin’s Lazarus A.D. recently returned from their first ever trip overseas to Japan’s Loud Park festival in Tokyo. Needless to say, the band had an amazing experience. They were the third band to play on the Big Rock stage on October 18th. The stage was headlined by Slayer and also featured Children Of Bodom, Hatebreed and Papa Roach among others. Lazarus A.D. sampled some foreign cuisine, was surprised by eager fans waiting at their hotel room door to sign autographs and take photos, and played to over 10,000 people. Multiple circle pits tore through the crowd as Jeff Paulick, Dan Gapen, Alex Lackner and Ryan Shutler played their music overseas for the first time.

Lead guitarist Dan Gapen checks in; “Loud Park was a blast! It was great sharing the stage with all those amazing bands. Not to mention having the chance to play in front of all the great people of Japan was a dream come true! We can’t wait to come back to Japan and get another chance to blow the roof off the mother*#$^er once again…”

Keep an eye on Lazarus A.D.’s myspace page for more Loudpark updates from the band. Photos and possibly even some behind the scenes digital camera video footage is yet to be posted.

Just after the Thanksgiving holiday, Lazarus A.D. will be saddling up in their van and trailer to join forces with Vader! Those dates are below.

Lazarus A.D. debut new video for “Revolution” on Ultimate-Guitar.com!
Lazarus A.D. filmed a new live video for Revolution this summer at Milwaukee, WI’s famed Summerfest. They played on Friday, June 26th as direct support to Burn Halo and Saliva in front of hordes of rabid metal/rock fans. Despite the brutally humid and hot summer heat, Lazarus A.D. unleashed their acclaimed in your face live performance. Watch the video to see for yourself!

Guitarist Dan Gapen issues an update on the video, the band, and his hand! “What’s up everybody? First and foremost I just wanna say we miss all you guys and can’t wait to get back on the road and rock again. Since we do have downtime though, we want to let all you guys know what we've been up to, beginning with our new video. The video is for the song "Revolution." It is a live video with footage taken from a show that we played at Summerfest; the world’s largest music festival in Milwaukee Wisconsin on June 26th, 2009.The video was shot with 3 cameras by Vision 4 Films in front of a stellar crowd. I think the video is a great way of showing what we do in a live setting and gives you an overall feel of what we are as a live band. Oh and if you were at the show there are a decent amount of crowd shots so be sure to check yourself out.

Next I wanted to discuss my hand. I got my cast removed on Tuesday and I am happy as hell!!! I had that son of a bitch on for 6 and a half weeks and I hated every minute of it. I was very relieved when I got the cast taken off and picked up my guitar and realized I could play pretty much exactly how I did before. This is great because I was afraid that I would have to go through some type of bullshit therapy to gain my strength back but for some reason or another, my playing wasn't really affected by the break. We are going to start practicing again this week and I can’t wait.

Also, in this time off we will be writing some new songs and hopefully going into the studio to record some rough production demos of material that will possibly be on our sophomore album!!! Well that's all for now. Until next time, keep blazin’ up and drinkin’ down!”

Fans can see the video on http://www.ultimate-guitar.tv starting on September 23rd at 9am pacific time. The Onslaught is available everywhere now!

Lazarus A.D. issues update, to perform at Loud Park in Japan this October
Bassist/vocalist, Jeff Paulick, has issued an update: “What the fuck is up! Just issuing a little update here; we have been home for about a month now since our last tour with Bison and Woe of Tyrants. The tour was great, especially Canada, but it ended slightly short with Dan breaking his hand. But, we will have you know, the hand is fine and has about 2 weeks left to heal and things will be better than ever. He has still been playing guitar as much as possible and actually has been practicing his finger picking techniques as thats about all he can do with his right hand right now haha! Nonetheless, Alex and I have been hard at work writing new material as well and we will resume writing in a couple weeks as a band. We have some down time here and are going to make the best of it. I can assure you the new material we have been jamming on is much more mature and we simply can't wait to get back into the studio. But more touring is in the works b4 that happens, rest assured. We obviously have Loud Park coming up and we are extremely stoked on that. Traveling to other countries and performing is a great feeling, the paperwork and process however is not! It takes alot of time and shit as a musician you just don’t want to deal with, but another good reason we are currently home. After Japan we have some things being thrown around, hopefully another US tour to wrap up the year and then back to the grind after the holidays. A couple more music videos are being put together, be on the lookout for that. We have some great HD footage of our gig at Milwaukee’s Summerfest which will be made into a live video very shortly here. Other than that, keep checkin back for updates and we will see everyone out there after we undoubtedly return home hungover and jet lagged to shit from Japan!!!”

Kenosha, WI’s Lazarus A.D. have come a long way in the last year, having re-released The Onslaught through Metal Blade and touring US and Canada with the likes of Amon Amarth, Goatwhore, Skeletonwitch, Testament, Unearth and most recently Bison b.c. and Woe Of Tyrants. Lazarus A.D. will now be taking their energetic and enthralling stage show overseas to the fans at Japan’s largest heavy metal festival - Loud Park! Bassist/vocalist, Jeff Paulick, describes being invited to play as “an unbelievable honor” and the band is unanimous in their excitement about doing a festival of this magnitude this early in their career. Also confirmed so far for this year’s Loud Park also are Poison The Well, Napalm Death, Arch Enemy, Children Of Bodom, Hatebreed, Megadeth, Rob Zombie, Slayer and the legendary Judas Priest! Loud Park is scheduled for October 17th and 18th - more info can be found on http://www.loudpark.com/09/.

Lead guitarist Dan Gapen sums it up: “All I can say is wow. I am so honored to play a festival of such magnitude. I can’t wait to experience the Japanese culture…Sake anyone?!?!”

“The Onslaught is firmly rooted in the classic chug-a-chug riffage, wah-wah blitzkrieg solos, and raw-throated shouts of prime 80’s Bay Area thrash, but it also mixes in blast beats and more modern, progressive passages that the previous generation never would have explored, successfully dragging a dated sound into the 21st century.” 4/5 stars Revolver Magazine

Unearth and Lazarus A.D. to support Testament!
Bay Area thrash legends, Testament, are taking the stage once again for their first US headlining tour in support of the award-winning The Formation of Damnation. The band’s first new studio album in nine years won “Album of the Year” at the 2008 Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards. The tour will feature the classic lineup of vocalist Chuck Billy, guitarists Eric Peterson and Alex Skolnick, bassist Greg Christian, and drummer Paul Bostaph. Testament will be bringing along metalcore heroes UNEARTH and neo-thrashers LAZARUS A.D. The tour kicks off May 2.

The password for the Testament ticket pre-sale is “Damnation.” Links to purchase can be found below along with the individual tour dates. More details will follow regarding Meet and Greet and VIP ticket packages.

Singer Chuck Billy commented on the upcoming US headlining tour: “It was really exciting last summer touring with Judas Priest, Heaven and Hell, and Motorhead, playing in front of all the old-school as well as new-school metalheads. Now we look forward to CRUSHING on our first headline tour on the Damnation Vacation US run. Heavy metal forever!!!”

For over 20 years, Testament has remained committed to the thrash metal sound that brought them to prominence in the late 1980s. The band has never compromised its unmatched intensity or musicianship and has only continued to up the ante with each release.

The Formation of Damnation was named one of MySpace’s Top Albums for 2008 and found itself at the top of many year-end lists including #9 Rock Album of the Year on iTunes for 2008, #4 Album of 2008 in Revolver Magazine, #10 on Metal Edge Top 50 of 2008, #1 on Metal Maniacs Top 20 of 2008, and the #2 Brave Pick in Brave Words and Bloody Knuckles. The album also dominated metal radio, coming in at #1 on Sirius-XM’s metal channel, #1 on CMJ’s Loud Rock charts, and was the most played album on metal radio according to FMQB.

Combining elements of hardcore, thrash, and extreme metal, while also never overlooking the importance of thought-provoking lyrical ideas and concepts, UNEARTH has steadily become one of the leading lights in heavy metal. Over the years the quintet has played in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, South America, Mexico, Japan, Europe including the Netherlands and Russia, and has appeared on such renowned metal fests as Ozzfest and Download. They have also appeared on International festivals such as Rock Am Park, Rock Am Ring, Loud Park, Wacken and others. UNEARTH’s latest offering, The March, was released in October of 2008.

“THRASH OR DIE” is the motto LAZARUS A.D. have lived by since day one and their no holds barred attitude is equaled only by their will to become a leading force in modern metal. Their supreme level of creativity, musicianship and professionalism makes them an electrifying and engaging live act. Powered by only a three-song demo, they earned a spot opening for Anthrax and were the only unsigned band included on Earache Records’ Thrashing Like A Maniac compilation. After being signed by Metal Blade in 2008, LAZARUS A.D. released The Onslaught on March 3, 2009.

LAZARUS AD releases new track off The Onslaught on MySpace!
Southeastern Wisconsin thrashers LAZARUS AD have just released the track Last Breath, off their Metal Blade Records debut The Onslaught, via the band’s MySpace page. Make sure to head over to LAZARUS AD’s MySpace page HERE to check out the new track. Don’t forget to catch the band live when they hit the road with Amon Amarth, Goatwhore, and Skeletonwitch this spring! *tour dates listed below

The Onslaught, available everywhere March 3rd, was mixed by famed thrasher James Murphy of Testament and contains 10 tracks with a supreme level of creativity and musicianship. Have no doubt that LAZARUS AD is a thrash band, but are not simply a throwback to the 80s bay area sound. They breathe a breath of fresh air into modern thrash with intelligent and memorable riffs, thrash breakdowns, mid-tempo grooves, and high-flying solos.

“…the way it combines rapid-fire riffage, abrupt rhythm changes and cutting guitar harmonies within double bass drumming is worthy of praise… Their playing blazes, yet Lazarus A.D. guitarists Dan Gapen and Alex Lackner are intuitive enough to know when to slow down or insert melodic hooks.” Guitar World from ‘The Next Metallica?’ article

“The thrash revival seems to have spawned two types of bands - retro sound-alikes and those who are looking to make the genre relevant now. Lazarus A.D. are one of the latter… The Onslaught is firmly rooted in the classic chug-a-chug riffage, wah-wah blitzkrieg solos, and raw-throated shouts of prime 80’s Bay Area thrash, but it also mixes in blast beats and more modern, progressive passages that the previous generation never would have explored, successfully dragging a dated sound into the 21st century.” 4/5 stars Revolver Magazine

“Get ready for some friggin ridiculous thrash from Wisconsin! Not bay area thrash, think Master of Puppets era Metallica thrash…We think this is gonna end up being a big one for MB.” Hails & Horns

“Every song on here is a potential future classic...but more impressive is the extraordinary musicianship on display… to imagine what this band is capable of is scary.” Fangoria.com

“The album opens with one of the most heart-palpitating tunes to ever hit plastic (“Last Breath”) and continues create music once thought only possible through bands like KREATOR, EXODUS, and very, very old-school METALLICA delivered with way more precision of a foreign entity such as CHILDREN OF BODOM.” 10/10 away-team.com

Lazarus A.D. “The Onslaught” reviewed in Revolver & on away-team.com
The Onslaught was reviewed in the April issue of Revolver Magazine and received 4 out of 5 stars. An excerpt from the review is below.

The Onslaught also received a perfect 10/10 on away-team.com. Click the link to read the full review. The Onslaught is available for pre-order now on metalbladestore.com!
