Swedish heavy rock band GHOST returns to the US for "13 Dates of Doom"
GHOST is pleased to announce their return to the States for their "13 Dates of Doom" tour featuring direct support from Toronto, Ontario witch rockers Blood Ceremony with Austin TX death rockers Ancient VVisdom opening the tour. The "13 Dates of Doom" tour marks the Ghouls' first return to the States since their now infamous stops at Maryland Death Fest and The Studio at Webster Hall in NYC after some last minute complications with the Ghouls' visas prevented the band from performing on the recent Enslaved tour.
The Ghoul with No Name comments "It is with an evil haunting chuckle that we are announcing that we are finally coming to North America. In the name of Satan, we will conduct thirteen rituals in thirteen different cities throughout the United States and Canada and now we are summoning all of our devotees to partake in these blasphemous eves of black magic."
GHOST cult leader "The Ghoul with No Name" and his anonymous ghouls will be touring in support of the band's debut album Opus Eponymous, which has been called "must have stuff" by Blistering adding that "Ritual is one of the best classic metal songs in recent memory," while Alarm Press calls out the album as "wildly catchy and full of melodic twists." Read below to see what else press has had to say about GHOST's debut full-length Opus Eponymous.

"the semi-anonymous Swedes compel on pretty much every sensory level…it's only when half the room sings along to set-closer 'Ritual' that you realize just how shockingly universal their appeal is." Decibel Magazine
"I'm in their fan club. [Laughs] I had no idea what they looked like until I saw the video. I heard the music first and I thought it was very great — very unique, very melodic and a breath of fresh air for metal. It reminded me a bit of '70s kind of rock that I liked as well. So yeah, I love the band." James Hetfield, Metallica
"the best new live act in the underground scene. Not only was the band super tight and the tunes rock-solid, the Nameless Ghoul proved to be a natural frontman; he has more charisma and swagger than anyone out there!" GuitarWorld.com
"All fans of true cult heavy metal should go apeshit over this. Sometimes you just have to admit that the devil has the best tunes." Verbicide
"A roaring debut that gives psychedelic rock a kick in the pants with a heavy sound and lyrics that will piss off the ultra-religious." About.com
"GHOST is Swedish, heavy, and tasked with slicing your soul to bits--or at least your ears." Village Voice
"Pros
• Catchy melodies supported by harmonious guitars and a vocalist with fantastic range.
• Band's love of psychedelic rock comes through in each note played.
• Crisp production highlights the skills of each musician.
Cons
• None" About.com
"There isn't a weak song to be found. Every muscular riff, delicate yet charismatic vocal line, and guitar solo is absolutely pristine. Most importantly, GHOST captures the spirit and quality of classic metal" Apeshit.org
"wow, is this one a monster…This is one of those rare albums that reminds you why you listen to rock and metal in the first place…undeniable, infectious charm" TheMetalRegister.com
"If spiritual leanings aren't an issue for you, you'll find Opus Eponymous a primer on the creation of melodic hard rock." BigTakeover.com
"Opus Anonymous is a potent cocktail of early metal like Black Sabbath or Judas Priest, '60s psychedelic atmosphere reminiscent of Pink Floyd, with riffs and melodies clearly inspired by devil-rockers like Mercyful Fate." Fearnet.com
"Opus Eponymous has spread through the music world like a zombie plague, its catchy songwriting infecting the hearts of hard rock and pop fans almost as often as legitimate metalheads." The Washington Times
"Now I've usually got a pretty low threshold for shtick, but dammit, GHOST's debut Opus Anonymous totally gets it right. Combining NWOBM sensibilities with psychedelia and stoner riffs, GHOST has the musical chops to back up the theatrics." Metal-Rules.com
"Opus Eponymous is an extraordinary debut that slowly peels back surprise after surprise as you delve into its 35 minutes of music. Sure, the style is old-school, but it's musically very rich, often more subtle than riff-oriented, and as closing instrumental Genesis proves, capable of moments of disarming beauty." PopMatters.com
"Probably the top true metal effort of 2010. Invoking the musty atmosphere of Angel Witch, Witchfinder General, Pagan Altar, Witchfynde and early Mercyful Fate, this is an arcane occult feast". Metal Hammer (9/10 points)

SWEDISH METAL BAND GHOST ANNOUNCES AUTUMN NORTH AMERICAN TOUR
RED HOT QUINTET WOWS AUDIENCES WITH DEBUT U.S. LIVE PERFORMANCES
Mysterious Swedish buzz band GHOST has announced that it will embark on its first ever North American tour this fall following the group's crowd-pleasing U.S. live promotional performances last week in Baltimore at the Maryland Deathfest and NYC. GHOST cult leader "The Ghoul with No Name" (who takes the stage in the form of "a satanic pope") and his anonymous ghouls will team up with Enslaved and Alcest for a three week trek that will launch on September 23 in Springfield, VA. GHOST will be touring in support of its debut album Opus Eponymous, which has been called "amazing" by Stereogum and "a primer on the creation of melodic hard rock" by The Big Takeover.
GHOST floored music fans with its first U.S. shows and served notice that it is not only a "band to watch" but will be a force to be reckoned with for years to come. In its live review of GHOST's NYC headlining show, the Village Voice called the group's performance "lurching and menacing", saying "Ghost's sound is like heavy metal trapped in a state of suspended animation since 1973". A sneak peek at GHOST performing live can be viewed now as the band was captured on film by recent attendees of the band's black mass. Check out the band performing the song "Satan Prayer" as part of its May 29 headlining set at the 2011 Maryland Deathfest at this location.
GHOST's Opus Eponymous is a daringly fascinating combination of satanic rock music merged with an almost unthinkable pop sensibility. Enveloped in a shroud of mystery and standing anonymous beneath the painted faces, hoods and robes which their sect demand, the GHOST deliver litanies of pulsating heavy rock and stimulating lyrics which "glorify and glamorize the disgusting and sacrilegious". The music and philosophies of GHOST specifically target "individuals who have a void in their life perhaps caused by some form of emotional trauma or upset" (research suggests these are most likely adolescents); this dearth can then be alluringly filled by GHOST's music and philosophies.

"Sweden's GHOST have built up an impressive underground buzz during the last six months…an arcane occult feast" – DECIBEL
"'Opus Eponymous' is an extraordinary debut…Some bands might like to act "scary" by wearing filthy outfits, sporting corpsepaint, performing alongside impaled sheep's' heads, and splashing buckets of real blood on their fans, but just like how 'Rosemary's Baby' is so much more frightening than 'Saw', GHOST's comparatively understated method proves to be far more effective, not to mention creepy as hell." – POPMATTERS
"On its 2010 full-length, 'Opus Eponymous' (newly reissued by Metal Blade), Ghost threw the metal community a righteous curveball, combining the creepy theatricality of black metal—evil-clergy outfits, band members known collectively as a Group of Nameless Ghouls—with crisp, hook-crammed rock & roll. The Swedish band's output serves as a timely reminder that metal needn't be raw and chaotic in order to evoke a dark mood." – TIME OUT NEW YORK
"Stockholm's GHOST is a secretive group currently making waves across the heavy metal community. In one fell swoop, they've disinterred the genre's original form and given it a ghoulish update without sacrificing the reek of retro status. Their 2010 (and only) full-length "Opus Eponymous" has spread through the music world like a zombie plague, its catchy songwriting infecting the hearts of hard rock and pop fans almost as often as legitimate metalheads. "Opus Eponymous" resurrects the spirit of heavy metal's earliest incarnation, breathing into it devilish new life." – THE WASHINGTON TIMES

"METAL's MOST MYSTERIOUS NEW BAND" WILDLY SUCCEEDS IN "COMMUNICATING PURE EVIL VIA ENTERTAINMENT"
Bizarre Swedish metal band GHOST, who recently released its debut album Opus Eponymous in North America via Rise Above Records / Metal Blade, are the cover stars of the June, 2011 issue of Decibel, which is on newsstands now. The cover feature - "Haunting the Chapel" - explains just why "it's so easy to identify why the Underground's gaga" for the anonymous retro-metallers whose modus operandi is directly stated as "tricking mankind into believing the end is ultimately a good thing via the ever so popular rock music medium." To read more about the glorious ghouls, pick up the new issue of Decibel today; available for purchase at this location.
GHOST's Opus Eponymous is a daringly fascinating combination of satanic rock music merged with an almost unthinkable pop sensibility; this is metal at its most original and deceiving apex. Musically rich and teeming with an undeniably authentic classic metal aura (described "as if the last three decades of heavy metal history never existed"), Opus Eponymous baits andensnares with its undeniable accessibility while "majestically weaving a melodic spell of evil through the senses until listeners become utterly possessed and open to any diabolical suggestion".
Enveloped in a shroud of mystery and standing anonymous beneath the painted faces, hoods and robes which their sect demand, the six nameless ghouls of GHOST deliver litanies of pulsating heavy rock and stimulating lyrics which "glorify and glamorize the disgusting and sacrilegious". "Our mission is not as much about conversion as it is about underlining which path you all have chosen to go, and where it will ultimately lead you," declared GHOST cult leader "THE GHOUL WITH NO NAME" in a rare communiqué. "We are the file playing back in your digital earpiece while you are carelessly approaching the end."
GHOST's Opus Eponymous
Last month, GHOST delighted an unsuspecting crowd of new devotees with a phantasmal performance at the 2011 Roadburn Festival in Tilburg, Holland. The incorporeal beings were captured by a lucky attendee who - by posting the footage online - spreads the sect's sacrilegious scripture to new and nescient minds across the globe. Stop what you're doing and witness GHOST as they administer the ghastly grooves of "Prime Mover", "Genesis" and "Ritual" at this location. An audio sampling of the sextet's suggestive strain is also available for ingestion immediately as "Ritual" streams online courtesy of Stereogum. Check out the unsettling, "chirpiest song about human sacrifice" ever put to tape today at this location.
