BISON B.C. are ripping up the road again this fall in Canada, doing a national tour in October and November!
In the past year BISON B.C. have been on the road with Helmet, Weedeater and Saviours to name a few. On October 19th, they will start their 12 day Canadian tour in Ottawa, right off the heels of their Weedeater tour, which is happening now (check out live photos on brooklynvegan.com). Toronto will be a very special show as it will be C'mon's final show. The bill for Toronto also includes: Burning Love and Miesha and The Spanks.
James, Dan, Masa and Matt will be delivering songs from 2010's Dark Ages, an album that Revolver Magazine heralded as "the best meat-and-potatoes stoner-metal record" of 2010, which also earned the a spot in the magazine's top 20 albums of that year. Dark Ages also received praise from Decibel Magazine in that it was described to contain "thrash, smash and fuck-you-up energy that'll soil your britches faster than a bottle of Mexican moonshine". The Sacramento Press claimed that BISON b.c.'s "music is thunderous, bone-shaking and most of all, heavy. Really heavy. These cats have got their own gravitational pull."

BISON b.c. Comment On Border Detainment
Canadian stoner metallers BISON b.c., who were scheduled to play a special one-off show at Seattle's El Corazon this past weekend with NOLA sludge heathens Eyehategod, were unable to cross the border and thus, did not play the gig.
Comments guitarist/vocalist James Farwell of the ordeal: "Due to our vicious plot to undermine the American economy and to destroy the citizens of the United States of America's belief in freedom and baseball or whatever, we weren't allowed to cross that fascinating imaginary line. More likely due to a fucking clerical error somewhere in Corporate America, the fine people at Homeland Security had no choice but to keep Americans secure from us dirty fucking Canadians. But fear not my fellow poser Canadians, we will get our fucking paper work in order soon enough and be down destroying things before you can say, 'Does Celine Dion shit in the fucking woods?!,' -- and yes indeed she does. Peace on Earth."
In related news, the band is currently in the studio penning the follow-up to their critically acclaimed Dark Ages full-length, which made its way on to a host of Year End lists including Revolver Magazine's Top 20 of 2010 where the band was commended for releasing, "the best meat-and-potatoes stoner-metal record this year." Further details to be revealed soon…
Dark Ages was release via Metal Blade Records last year and continues to astound with its unsuspected riff urgency. BISON b.c. CDs and merch can be purchased at Indiemerchstore.com.

Comments guitarist/vocalist James Farwell: "It is a fucking honor to be sharing the stage with Eyehategod. Seattle should be in for a great time witnessing the carnage. I'm especially happy because I couldn't afford to go otherwise."
In related news, the bionic power of the band's Dark Ages full-length, issued last year via Metal Blade Records, continues to annihilate unsuspecting listeners with its level of riff urgency. Dark Ages made its way on to a host of Year End lists including Revolver Magazine's Top 20 of 2010 where the band was commended for releasing, "the best meat-and-potatoes stoner-metal record this year." BISON b.c. confirm Canadian tour dates for October
Vancouver BC's BISON will be returning this fall to eastern Canada with their mighty mammoth sound starting Oct. 12 in Armstrong BC and ending Oct. 23 in Hamilton, ON! These dates are in support of their latest release "Dark Ages" that came out via Metal Blade Records on April 13/10.
A bison is "a big, hairy, strong animal," says James Farwell, who plays guitar and sings for Bison b.c. That could as just as well describe the band, which rose from the ass-end of the continent in Vancouver, Canada, to utter its doomed, plaintive call, and tramples through the constellations on its four shaggy limbs (James, Dan And, Masa Anzai, and Brad Mackinnon). Ghostly, windswept prairies, the mythical haunts of native lore: it is all there. Self-described "Canadian dirtbags" and veterans of Vancouver's deep thrash and indie scenes, they are hitting their stride and offering up a new soundtrack for our last party before certain extinction. There is illness, abuse, apocalypse, and French horn.
Their first Metal Blade release, Quiet Earth, showed what that earth's last sound might be like. It was heavy, sick, and crazy; stomping and banging, elegiac with cello. Just beneath the rock they described a bad trip through a devastated world where resigned dignity and camaraderie with the friends that remain are the only consolations.
This mixture of rowdiness and gentleness is very much of their hard-living, hard-loving hometown: fucked-up modernity's last outpost on the rim of a vast, menacing wilderness. In their new release, James sings, "Vancouver's an empty bottle, our dying thirst causing problems. Stand at dawn, the beginning of something heartfelt and replaceable." No matter where we are, this is what it has come to in this age. So let's listen to these gentlemen and rock out together.
Relentless touring - with the likes of Priestess, Baroness, 3 Inches Of Blood, Shadows Fall, Helmet, Voivod, Kylessa, High On Fire and more - has fine tuned the band's dedication to the riff to metallic perfection. Dark Ages breathes like a rabid animal that you'd find tied up in WINO's backyard. It's Flying V's, analog perfection, loud & sludgy, played by hairy dudes in dirty denim jackets.

Guitarist and vocalist James Farwell comments; " I first started listening to Helmet when I was doing bonelesses and acid drops wasted in back alleys with big pants and small wheels; a long fucking time ago. BISON b.c. will be touring in support of their most recent release Dark Ages, which just came out via Metal Blade Records on April 13, 2010. Previous tours in support of Dark Ages have seen BISON b.c. out with bands such as High On Fire, Priestess, Baroness, and 3 Inches of Blood, just to name a few. Since its release, Dark Ages has been met by praise from fans and critics alike. Here is what critics have been saying about the band's third release and second for Metal Blade:
"Bison b.c. thinks as epic as prehistoric predecessor Mastodon, with Thin Lizzy corollaries and a hardcore fifth gear with vocals to match." The Austin Chronicle
"colossal, large, big as it gets, massive … They delivered a level of volume and energy that started everybody off six beers deep." Decibel Magazine
"Dark Ages is another strong outing from what is turning out to be a truly special band. More importantly for those in a constant pursuit of heaviness, Dark Ages is not the sound of the earth moving off its axis; it is the sound of Bison b.c. shoving it off with contemptuous rage." Blabbermouth.net
"totally captivating." about.com
"with flawless musicianship and thoroughly bad-ass riffs lurking around every corner, Dark Ages has much to offer the discerning metal head." Rock Sound Magazine (UK)
"Bison b.c. offers an unconventional mix of old-school punk and thrashy, swamp-water music that's perfectly crushing on all counts." TheMetalRegister.com
"Simply put, Bison b.c. have gotten even better at what they do, with vastly more memorable bits than before." MetalSucks.net
"Bison b.c., for those who don't know, have come to help you grow a beard, funnel beer, and in general feel alive again; slowly, for the most part, but still very much vital and downright dangerous if you allow their cascade of myriad Doom and Prog predilections to take you over utterly." MetalEater.com
"How can one even begin to describe this monolithic, colossal, gargantuan beast of an album? The answer lies in another question – you thought Mastodon was heavy? They look like Hannah Montana playing with Hello Kitty dolls compared to this sledgehammer of a band. No, seriously." Espyrock.com
"These Canucks have this genuine, but we-don't-give-a-rat's-ass attitude to them that permeates Dark Ages and the still very imposing Quiet Earth. Two albums into the 'major' label career and they've yet to misfire. Look the fuck out." Blistering.com
"If there's anyone who still thinks Bison's only a 'stoner' band, they're in for a surprise. They're a band that can take it all over the map, but it always works in their favor." Hellbound.ca
"If there was a metal Olympics, Bison would wave Canada's flag on high while beer cans rained down upon our proud metal traditions." Metal-Rules.com
"The show's real jewel however was almost an afterthought to most fans who showed up. That is until they crushed everyone within the distance of their various six senses. Bison b.c., a Vancouver based act, who come across as an old school stoner garage band going through midlife crisis. That is until they plug in and crank it up and then you see and hear how incredibly intense they are. These guys simply know how to have fun and you hear and feel the energy they dish out on stage in the crevices of their brand new release, Dark Ages." Examiner.com
"This is just over 45 minutes of intense, in your face, doom-metal steeped with old school punk and thrash, along with a touch of stoner metal to bring it all home. Dark Ages is sure to be a fan favorite, and will stand up will amongst its contemporaries. These guys aren't going away any time soon." Metalholic.com
"If you're thirsty for unpretentious, balls-out, heavy-as-hell metal, this album is set to be the soundtrack to all your future raging keggers – just don't come complaining to us at OneMetal if the adrenaline and testosterone unleashed by the record cause you to kick holes in your walls or anything." OneMetal.com
"Sludgy, thrashy, thick and primal." TheNewReview.net
"Bison b.c. manages to create a musical narrative with monolithic doom and sludge buried riffs and vicious thrash raids. From galloping to crushing, the story's told through their chanting guitars and earth-pounding stampedes creating something accessible, yet unique. The compositions are never stale, variations and transitions are seamless and natural, but not all together predictable." TheNewReview.net
"Catching their performance knowing very little about the band is really THE way to behold Bison b.c.. They have a way of sending an unsuspecting audience member out of their live performances with a sense of awe and wonder that is the stuff of legend for the best live performers, the kind of live show you will tell your friends about for years to come." Fazermagazine.com
"Dark Ages is a simmering, smoking, hulking, Tour-de-fuck-your-face-off" metal-army.com

GOATWHORE and BISON b.c. join Shadows Fall on their first ever headlining tour in Canada!
SHADOWS FALL are pleased to announce their first ever headlining tour of Canada. The tour starts on Wednesday February 24th in Calgary, Alberta. Support on the tour will come from BISON b.c. and Baptized in Blood. Special guest GOATWHORE will be on the first six west coast dates only. SHADOWS FALL have also announced a headlining show before they cross the border to the Great White North. The show is in Spokane, WA at The Knitting Factory and support will come from BISON b.c., Baptized in Blood and GOATWHORE.
SHADOWS FALL front man Brian Fair had the following to say about SHADOWS FALL’s Canadian headlining tour: “All of us in SHADOWS FALL are very excited to finally be heading to Canada for a full headlining tour!! We look forward to rocking with all the metalheads in the great white north and sharing a few extra strong beers with you all!!”
GOATWHORE are continuing to tour in support of their most critically acclaimed album to date, Carving Out The Eyes Of God. This album is quickly becoming their defining opus and has received top album of 2009 accolades on the likes of Decibel Magazine, The Onion, about.com, blistering.com, examiner.com, popmatters.com and more. Bootleg videos are popping up all over youtube that chronicle GOATWHORE as they tear across the US with DevilDriver and Suffocation, check out the guys playing the title track from Carving at Slim’s in San Francisco HERE.
Carving Out The Eyes Of God chart debuts:
BILLBOARD TOP 200 Debut @ #190
Billboard Hard Music Debut @ #33
Billboard Top New Artist (Heatseekers) Albums Debut @ #16
Billboard Top Independent Albums Debut @ #34
What’s been said about Carving Out The Eyes Of God:
“the band’s tightest, most guitar-driven offering to date. An unholy smorgasbord of rigid tempo shifts, gargantuan hooks, blasting black mass anthems, and Falgoust’s soot and venom snarl…” Decibel Magazine
“Their most varied record to date. Songs sear with an old-school, punk propelled urgency that comes from years of Motörhead, Venom, and Hellhammer worship.” 4/5 stars, Revolver Magazine
BISON b.c. is putting the finishing touches on their sophomore album and follow up to 2008’s Quiet Earth. Those who have witnessed this band live already know how engrossing their honest and intense stage show has become. Get a small taste of this intensity by checking out this live video shot by MTV Canada back in April of 2009 on youtube HERE. Tons more BISON b.c. new album news, HUGE tour announcement and more are all coming very, very soon, so keep your eyes peeled!
Vocalist/guitarist James Farwell proclaims: "We are stoked to traverse the wild Canadian winter land with Shadows Fall, Baptized In Blood and Goatwhore, we hope to share with them our fine Canadian tradition of Tim Horton’s and getting blind drunk on Old Style Pilsner, OV and Cinqantes."
Praise for BISON b.c. from the press:
“powerful and dignified…they dare to approach the maniacal majesty of present-day High on Fire.” Decibel Magazine
“If Mastodon had spent more time listening to Anthrax, they might sound like Vancouver's Bison B.C.” Rollingstone.com

James Gnarwell of Bison b.c. discusses his job as a social worker in Vancouver on CBC radio 3
From CBC.com: Colossal riffs, fuzzed out shredding, and scorched amps - these are the sort of things that come to mind when I think about the band BISON b.c. Compassion, empathy and social work? Not so much. However, I have learned that James Gnarwell (singer and guitarist for BISON b.c.) is a musician who also works on Vancouver's downtown eastside as a community support worker, providing harm reduction supplies and emergency shelter to people who need it.

Bison b.c. team up with Kylesa for US tour!
Vancouver, BC’s Bison b.c. are once again saddling up their infamous tour van, the Blue Bitch, and hitting the road with Georgia’s Kylesa! The like minded pair of riff infested heavy bands will begin their trek in North Carolina, which includes the Planet Caravan Festival with Clutch, Pentagram, Wino, Burst and tons more. The fest will be a perfect beginning to what promises to be a tour filled with ample amounts of banging heads, sloshing cups of beer and plenty of beards!
Vocalist/guitarist James Farwell issues his update: "So I get back from the baptized in beer tour, and I’m hangin’ on the porch with my dog Milo, just shootin' the shit, and I break the news that I’m goin out on the road again in September…he looks up at me with the sad, disappointed look he has mastered for when I tell him things he doesn't want to hear. I scratch him behind his ear and say, "but we get to go out with Kylesa, and Tombs and Red Fang will be there to party, and Saviours…" I see his tail start wagging and he says, "Fucking awesome dude…drink a beer for me, cause sometimes this water just doesn't cut it."
This tour is not one to miss - Quiet Earth is out now on Metal Blade Records!
“…intense, guitar heavy thrash that would make even Municipal Waste step back in awe.” Alternative Press
“If Mastodon had spent more time listening to Anthrax, they might sound like Vancouver's Bison B.C.” Rollingstone.com
“…unpretentious, mountainous rock…frequently sound like Mastodon at their most straightforward, coming impressively close to that band’s mastery of the riff.” Terrorizer Magazine

Vocalist/guitarists James Gnarwell had this to say so far: "We have truly been baptized in beer so far…All of our clothes, the van, and every stage thus far has been soaked in our most favorite beverage…Glorious beer. All kinds of beer: from the finest ales and lagers to the dingiest piss you can stomach and we love it all. Can't wait to slay south of the border and continue our liver olympics. “…technical ecstasy that is equally retro and forward-thinking…recalls Iron Maiden in scale and structure…one hell of an album.” Metal Edge Magazine
“powerful and dignified…they dare to approach the maniacal majesty of present-day High on Fire.” Decibel Magazine 8/10

“They will crush the world.” Exclaim!
Lazarus AD
“The Onslaught is firmly rooted in the classic chug-a-chug riffage, wah-wah blitzkrieg solos, and raw-throated shouts of prime 80’s Bay Area thrash, but it also mixes in blast beats and more modern, progressive passages that the previous generation never would have explored, successfully dragging a dated sound into the 21st century.” 4/5 stars Revolver Magazine
“Get ready for some friggin ridiculous thrash from Wisconsin! Not bay area thrash, think Master of Puppets era Metallica thrash.” Hails & Horns
“…the way it combines rapid-fire riffage, abrupt rhythm changes and cutting guitar harmonies within double bass drumming is worthy of praise.” Guitar World from ‘The Next Metallica?’ article
“Every song on here is a potential future classic…but more impressive is the extraordinary musicianship on display…to imagine what this band is capable of is scary.” Fangoria.com
“This one hits so hard it hurts…In two words, ‘damn good’.” Blabbermouth.net
“The Onslaught is probably better than the last couple Exodus albums. Derivative or not, when you write good songs, you write good songs and that’s all that really matters. I fully endorse and recommend this riff orgy to thrash heads everywhere.” TeethoftheDivine.com
“As soon as I heard the first thirty seconds, I was sold on Lazarus A.D.” PureGrainAudio.com

“Kingdom of Might is habit forming and shouldn't be taken with alcohol. For dry spells (when the album doesn't have your complete attention) of 5 minutes or more, please consult a doctor (you'd have to be dead).” AbsolutePunk.net
“…like if Lamb of God were to throw in an occasional bridge from Dio’s Holy Diver while under attack from Aborted.” Outburn Magazine
“Not only do they expertly navigate around the fretboard with fluid ease, they still manage to make many of the solos and quick counter-melodies extremely catchy. That’s a rare feat these days.” Ultimate-Guitar.com
“Woe of Tyrants is undoubtedly one of the best new extreme-metal bands to break out onto the metal landscape in a long time.” Frantikmag.com
“…truly epic confidence, graceful aggression and positivity that instantly catapults the band into the elite of American metal…” TeethoftheDivine.com
“Maybe it is the complete absence of the clichés that riddle most of the metal that gets released these days but Woe of Tyrants is a welcome breath of fresh air…” Metal-Rules.com
“…Woe of Tyrants may soon be your favorite new band.” All Music Guide
