BEHEMOTH's Nergal answers back to the overwhelming response of those offering to set up benefits in the vocalists honor
Singer's main goal is to raise awareness and get people involved by registering to be a bone marrow donor
Since news on Nergal's recent health issues has been released, the band, management, and label has received an overwhelming response from fans and bands all over the world asking how they can directly help Nergal. In response to everyone offering his or her help in terms of setting up benefits and shows to raise money for the frontman of the Polish blackened death metal band BEHEMOTH, Nergal has issued the following statement:
"I haven't intended to manifest myself in any way and, especially at this stage, to share my feelings or any other news with the world for obvious reasons. It is simply too early for it. But it was YOU who provoked me to say a few words. Regarding my personal low opinion of humankind, I'm shocked by the reaction to my illness. I actually expected NOTHING yet received feedback which surpassed all expectations. I want to ensure you I read EACH mail I receive, although I'm unable to reply to all of them. The power of your words is pure magic and I thank you all for it. You are a gigantic indestructible army that truly inspires me in this difficult time. The fact is that a fight with this illness is going to last for many months. Most of this time I will spend in hospital and I will go through various psychophysical states. If you know the history of Behemoth you also know we achieved everything by hard work and a steely determination. The same goes for my private life. I happen to be a strong son of a bitch. I have no faith but rely on a 100% victory and I am sure I will get out of it stronger than ever. Sun Tzu in his 'Art of War' said that if you know your enemy and yourself the result of a thousand battles will not surprise you… I enter the ring with this Nietzschean attitude and I will leave it as a winner, as usual. Just watch and see!
So I want to emphasize that Behemoth will by no means goes through any hibernation state. Obviously all concert plans must be postponed until some unknown point in the future, but things are happening! Lately our newest video for '…Alas, Lord is Upon Me' has premiered and stirred up quite a storm in mass media, which fills us with utter pride. Plus we've just finished the project of our new DVD; Evangelia Heretika is a three disc release, a real encyclopedia of Behemoth with nearly 5 hours of material and a bonus audio CD that will be out in November (Metal Blade US - Nuclear Blast Europe). Expect an experience of visual madness as we went to hell and back to make it! Our official Webstore has been functional for a couple of days and official merchandise and some very exclusive stuff can be bought there. At the beginning of 2011, Peaceville in Europe and Metal Blade in US will reissue the EPs with new artwork, bonuses, liner notes, and more. As you can see, despite a complicated situation and difficult circumstances we're remaining active wherever we can.
Finally, I want to comment on some opinions which, provoked by religious circles, lead to far-fetched and inaccurate interpretations. I was surprised to hear my illness became a pretext for some people to embark on their own crusade. Opinions suggesting I might come closer to God or abandon my ideals and grovel to the only correct world view in this country not only surprised but also frightened me. This is a typical example of supporting one's own views by preying on someone's misfortune. 'He fell ill so he will convert to Christianity, he will discover the religion he fought against is actually close to him.' Halt! Why should the illness change my point of view? It is true this is a difficult time for me and the thoughts of ultimate matters are hard to chase away. But the idea that I will change my opinions, priorities, and values as a consequence of my illness sounds as if someone regards my head, and not my body, ill. Suggesting I might convert are ridiculous. To what would I convert? After all, I know Christian mythology pretty well, not only in its literary version, and I find nothing good, creative or beautiful in it. I read books better and wiser than the Bible. War, blood, blackmail, rapes, incest, pedophilia, zoophilia, collaboration and treachery – each page emanates with evil. Some may say I don't understand the message of the Bible. I'd rather say the Christianity is nothing more than a rusty and archaic structure that is going to fall down any moment. It lasts only because of the gullible that follow the shepherd blindly; without any questions, without any consideration, not to any promised land, but to an intellectual slaughter. So, I say to those, who see some chances to break my rules, and myself because of the illness: over my dead body!"
Nergal's official view on benefit concerts, fund raisers, etc. is focused on marrow donations as a whole issue, not his specific situation. If you want to help Nergal the best thing you can do is set up a marrow drive or register to be a bone marrow donor. Every person that registers to be a donor increases the chances of survival for Nergal and every other person out there suffering from the same illness.

BEHEMOTH's Nergal brings awareness to the need for bone marrow donors
BEHEMOTH leader Nergal has just found out he needs a marrow transplant to fight the sickness he has recently been diagnosed with (leukemia). In light of this he wants to remind everyone about the need to be on the marrow registry. The more people get tested and donate, the more of a chance for life there is for him and people in the same situation.
BEHEMOTH and Metal Blade would like to thank everyone for their support and well wishes during this difficult time. The best thing we can all do right now is learn about the marrow donation process, not only help save one of metal's leaders, but to also help save countless others out there struggling with the same disease.

We've had over 70 people working for us on this video so we can easily say it was the biggest production so far. I'm beyond excited! Wait and see…"
Dariusz Szermanowicz of Grupa #13 adds; "This time we decided to make something different. We'd like to make video in 'cinematic' style without so many VFX like in last two videos. We found great location, we had dozen of actors and extras and awesome stylizing. During the 16 hours of hard work we've created amazingly killer video!"

BEHEMOTH's frontman Nergal taken ill; upcoming shows canceled
The following excerpt is a statement from BEHEMOTH's frontman and guitarist Nergal regarding his health and the canceling of upcoming tour dates.
"Dear All,
I'd like to announce that Behemoth won't be able to tour for the foreseeable future. I don't wanna bore you with details here, but I'm sick and am receiving some serious medical treatment. It's gonna take another few weeks or more for full recovery, and so we have been forced to cancel all the Behemoth shows in August, planned dates in Russia and Baltic States for September and October, and our American tour in November. I know how much it sucks but health comes first. I can assure all of you that when we return, I'll be stronger than death, and we'll reschedule every tour as soon as logistics allow. I feel good and strong, my mind is focused, I've got my loving woman by my side, my band mates, friends (never thought there are so many, haha), management, agents and label people are giving me massive support. I can't ask for more but a little patience now. The fact that we won't be touring for the next few months doesn't mean we'll hibernate. Behemoth will be active on several other levels. In upcoming days you can expect the premiere of our newest video, 'Alas, Lord Is Upon Me' which is by far the sickest fuckin' thing we've ever done! The Evangelia Heretika DVD is coming out as scheduled in November this year. Also, check out our Webstore that opens for international markets in upcoming weeks. This is it for now. Stay tuned!"

Vocalist and guitarist Nergal comments; “We’ve been through hell and back to make this release happen. I know we only have a few DVD’s in our catalogue so far but they are not even close to what you are gonna experience with EVANGELIA HERETIKA! Expect approximately 5 hours of essential Behemoth. Long-time Behemoth artistic collaborator, Graal, has provided us with some of his most disturbing and completed vision to date.”

Starting on November 3rd, BEHEMOTH will hit the road on a headline run dubbed the Lawless States of Heretika tour that kicks off in Quebec City, Canada. Joining BEHEMOTH on this tour that takes the band through the US and Canada are Watain, Withered, and Black Anvil. BEHEMOTH wins Grammy award in Poland!
Behemoth's recent album Evangelion has received high praise from both fans and critics since its release in August 2009, even seeing the band break out into the mainstream in its native Poland. Now Evangelion has been bestowed with official recognition of its huge success, as the band received nominations in five categories at the Polish Grammy Awards (known as "Fryderyki" in Poland). Evangelion won in the "Best Heavy Metal Album" category. Frontman Nergal says of this distinction:
"There are different priorities we care about and hunt for and awards are the last on this list, I can assure you. However, we are happy that someone noticed our hard work and determination and this award is proof that "Evangelion" definitely made a statement! We couldn't be more proud of this record. Behemoth Nominated for 5 Polish Grammy Awards!
Behemoth has been nominated in their native country of Poland at the 2010 Fryderyki Awards! The band is up for awards in the categories of "production of the year", "the best album artwork", "album of the year" (heavy metal), "band of the year" and "video of the year". Needless to say, this is a huge honor and a massive accomplishment for such a heavy band. The awards will be presented in Warsaw, Poland on April 19th.
The Fryderyki Awards nominations are an honor that add to Behemoth's other recent accomplishments. Their latest album, Evangelion, reached enormous heights, coming in at #56 on the Billboard Top 200, #61 on Canada's Top 200, and three weeks straight at #1 in Poland before being certified gold in their home country.

Behemoth post Polish tour summary!
Behemoth has just ended the Polish tour, promoting their newest album, Evangelion. They played 11 gigs in 11 of the biggest Polish cities. The tour turned out to be a great success on all fronts and most of the shows were sold out.
Front man Nergal comments:
“We came back home several days ago and I still can’t get over after those 11 gigs… That tour had the biggest production and what is more important, the attendance was outstanding!
Nobody expected that the clubs in such cities like Krakow, Warsaw, Poznan, Wroclaw, Lublin, Katowice or Gdansk will run out of the tickets. We hired the best venues in this country, but it seems that we will look for even bigger ones in the future. There is also another alternative – playing more than one gig in one city.
We consider the “New Evangelion Tour” as one of the biggest and brightest concert events in the whole band history. We got such an amazing, fanatic feedback from the polish audience – like never before. As you could see, we prepared something special for you – some new songs, some older stuff, some songs that we’ve never played before, pyros and new stage design. You appreciated our efforts and we thank you for that. Also, on behalf of the whole band I would like to thank everyone who worked for us during this tour: drivers, sound engineers, pyros crew, tech crew, and the tour co-organizers, Mystic Productions. We have never worked together on such a successful event earlier. No mistakes were made and all was on the schedule.
We also owe the outstanding atmosphere to the three great bands: Black River, Azarath and Hermh. It’s good to share the stage not only with the excellent musicians, but also with good friends. Thank you!
At this moment, we are resting before the next tour – European tour this time. Tired but happy as hell! And pleased. Thank you to EVERY fan who came to the gigs and shared the energy with us. The band said, "It was a natural choice for us to work with Grupa 13 again. They did amazing work for us in the past and we knew we could do something even more spectacular this time. I came up with the idea for the video which was developed by Darek and his people. The script is beyond insane! I already can’t wait for the final result."

Behemoth Forced to Cancel Canadian Summer Slaughter dates
Polish Blackened Death all stars Behemoth have been denied entry into Canada today to meet up with the Edmonton and Calgary stops of the Summer Slaughter tour. PLEASE NOTE BOTH EDMONTON AND CALGARY SUMMER SLAUGHTER SHOWS ARE STILL HAPPENING WITH HEADLINERS NECROPHAGIST AND SUFFOCATION! Immigration officers informed Behemoth of a new regulation regarding Polish citizens entering Canada that had changed while the band was en route to the shows. With Canada Day and the 4th of July there was no way for them to obtain the last minute forms they required to enter the country.
Here is the official statement from the band: “We couldn't be more devastated, having to cancel these shows is one of the worst things we have had to do as a band. Canada has always treated Behemoth well and we were still fired up from our show in Montreal and Toronto. BEHEMOTH posts first single off of Evangelion!
BEHEMOTH, who have set Evangelion as the title of the band’s ninth hell-breaking opus, have just posted a brand new track and the first single off the band’s August release on their official MySpace page. Evangelion was recorded in the band's hometown at Radio Gdansk studio with longtime sound engineer Malta, the Wieslawscy Brothers, and Daniel Bergstrand (drum engineering) in the producers' chairs. Evangelion was mixed in Miloco Studios by Colin Richardson (Machine Head, Slipknot, Carcass, Napalm Death) and will be unleashed in the US on August 11th via Metal Blade Records and in Europe on August 9th via Nuclear blast.

BEHEMOTH UNVEILS NEW ALBUM ARTWORK! RELEASE DATE ANNOUNCED!
Behemoth will release their newest album “Evangelion” on August 7 via Nuclear Blast in Europe and August 11 via Metal Blade in US. Check out the cover artwork!
“Evangelion combines a pure art form with a direct message. It was also important for us to ensure that the graphical presentation did justice to the record. Again, we have worked with Tomasz Danilowicz who has created his best illustration yet for Behemoth. The picture is of The Great Harlot of Babylon riding the seven-headed beast. Saints bow before her in worship whilst the tablets of the Ten Commandments lie broken at her feet. It represents our vision and the interpretation of the New Testament parable where the “Whore of Babylon” is a symbol of rebellion and resistance against God. I am fascinated by stories whose source lies in the Bible and we have used biblical symbolism, coupled with my own experience and outlook, in our lyrics or on the covers of previous Behemoth records. I love to juggle with meanings and play around with symbolism which is exactly what I have done in this case. The main character of our new cover is an archetype of disobedience, individualism, self-determination and a free, unfettered will – these are universal keywords which are typical and crucial in understanding the character of our works, life as a whole and the true nature of man.” Commented Nergal.

BEHEMOTH COMPLETES TRACKING OF THE NEW ALBUM!
Behemoth have completed tracking their much anticipated new album, “Evangelion”, at Radio Gdansk in Poland.
Nergal is flying to UK on May 12th to join Colin Richardson who’s currently mixing the record at Miloco Studios, in London.
Commented Nergal "I've just finished tracking down the vocals for "Evangelion". My chords are worn out and I can hardly speak but at the same time I’m sooo happy and satisfied with the way it turned out this time. I think there was something missing in my vocal performance on the previous record, "The Apostasy". With "Evangelion" I made sure it doesn't sound just brutal…songs are more diverse and so are my vocals. There's definitely more emotions and expression in it. You’ll be surprised!"

BEHEMOTH announces title of upcoming album
(Los Angeles, CA) April 15, 2009 – Polish extreme metalers BEHEMOTH have set Evangelion as the title of their 9th full-length studio album due out this summer. Evangelion marks the follow up to the bands extremely successful 2007 release The Apostasy; a release which saw BEHEMOTH acquire the supporting slot to second stage headliners Hatebreed on Ozzfest which also featured Lamb of God, Lordi, and Nile just to name a few. Following Ozzfest, BEHEMOTH co-headlined the Radio Rebellion Tour with Job for a Cowboy with support from Gojira and Beneath the Massacre with the band’s final North American tour being a direct support slot to Norwegian legends, Dimmu Borgir. After a short break for writing, BEHEMOTH entered Radio Gdansk in Poland to begin recording. Evangelion see’s BEHEMOTH, Daniel Bergstrand and Woytek and Slawek Wieslawscy as producers with Colin Richardson (Machine Head, Slipknot, Napalm Death, Carcass) set to mix the album.
Here’s what frontman Nergal has to say; “I’ve had this title in my head for almost a year now and it grew on me. It sounds nothing but powerful and epic which perfectly mirrors the essence of the new album. Evangelion comes from a Greek word ‘Spreading the word of God’ or ‘spreading the good news’…oh well, you already know that we love to play with the meanings and symbolism. We’re here to show you our interpretation of what Evangelion really is.”

Nergal’s ESP Signature Guitar Unveiled!
Nergal has worked with ESP to develop his first ever signature guitar. The “V” shaped HEX-7 signature model will be available in LTD version, with pickups, hardware and design according to Nergal’s specs.

I’ve always been a fan of their instruments and I’m very grateful for giving me an opportunity to envision my idea of what a perfect 7 string guitar for extreme metal should look like! BEHEMOTH TAPS COLIN RICHARDSON FOR NEW ALBUM MIX!
BEHEMOTH has tapped Colin Richardson (Machine Head, Slipknot, Napalm Death, Carcass) to mix their new, as of yet untitled album due out late summer 2009. The CD is now being recorded in Radio Gdansk in Poland with BEHEMOTH, Daniel Bergstrand and Woytek, and Slawek Wieslawscy as producers.
BEHEMOTH’s main man Nergal said in the press release: “I’m beyond excited about this new album. It’s not just the finest piece of music we’ve ever made, but it’s also the most mature tunes we’ve created without compromising our sound. I’m stoked about Colin Richardson involvement in the mix of the record. We’ve tried to book him for our last album The Apostasy, but due to busy schedule he wasn’t available then. He’s name needs no introduction. I have absolutely no doubts that Colin will deliver and I’m expecting new album to have the sound that’s bigger than life!”
Commented Colin: “Nergal has sent me three songs which are guitars/bass/drums live from the rehearsal room and the material sounds fantastic already. I am really looking forward to mixing this album. It’s going to be great mixing an extreme heavy band again, especially as it’s the mighty Behemoth.”

BEHEMOTH ISSUES STUDIO UPDATE!
Los Angeles, CA – March 16, 2009 – BEHEMOTH is close to finish tracking down guitars for their next, yet untitled album. This time Woytek and Slawek Wieslawscy from Studio Hertz are co-producing guitars.
“Works are in progress, everything is goin’ just smooth. We get along real fine and I believe we found a killer tone for each guitar!” comments Woytek Wieslawski.
“It’s been five days of recordings and we nailed 3 songs already. We lay down 3 rhythm guitars on each side, sometimes even more.” Adds Woytek’s brother, Slawek.
“We use Mesa Boogie Road King, Sommatone and Diezel Herbert. First two amps are used by BEHEMOTH live so we are bringing some of this live vibe to the record too. Diezel is there just to spice up the overall sound…”
“This is the most relaxing and at the same time most creative studio session I’ve ever been a part of. These guys are very effective and they work incredibly fast! Both are very anal bout details so now my guitars for the first time ever don’t sound sloppy haha. We found some fresh sounding guitar tones and mixed it up together… I’m using this new custom amp Sommatone that was built for me in US and it sounds just amazing! I’m a long time Mesa Boogie fan so I’m using Road King as a main sound. We mix it with Diezel Herbert. I’m sure there’s some new quality made here!” comments Nergal.
