As I Lay Dying issues update from the studio!
As I Lay Dying is currently holed up with Adam D. and Daniel Castleman at Lambesis Studios in San Diego, CA. They’re hard at work recording and writing their follow up to 2007’s An Ocean Between Us. The band will be recording and writing throughout the rest of 2009 and vocalist Tim Lambesis has issued the following update via the band’s myspace page:
“We've released little bits of information here or there in previous news posts and blogs, but there are still questions coming in concerning what we've been up to. Below is an unquestionably obvious outline concerning our future plans… 1) We started working on new album. 2) We started recording the new album a few weeks ago with Adam D & Daniel Castleman at the reigns (and JMR for a couple weeks). 3) There are only drums for 8 songs tracked so far. One of them we're undecided about, but maybe it'll feel different when the vocals are done. Either way, we need write more than 8 songs (since they aren't as long as the 8 songs on Master of Puppets). Therefore we're working on writing MORE new songs as soon as we finish recording what's been started. 4) The only break in working on the new album will be our short trip to Mexico and Sri Lanka to play two of the best shows of our career. 5) All of us can't stress enough how grateful we are to be writing music that we love while still receiving a paycheck. This can only be credited to OUR LOYAL FANS! Sometimes bands need to rush out a crappy record so they can start touring again to pay their bills. In our case, we plan to make a record worth listening to (hopefully), and start touring again when we're done. Thanks for your patience and understanding. We care and we're working. In fact, I haven't had a full nights rest since March when the coolest kid ever made me a DAD!”
As Tim mentioned, the band will be playing in Mexico City, Mexico and one very special show all the way over in Sri Lanka.

HOLLYWOOD FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES WINNERS
HOLLYWOOD, CA, October 27, 2009 -- The 13th Annual Hollywood Film Festival's "Hollywood Awards" ceremony was held last night before a standing-room-only audience of over 1,100 Hollywood Film Festival attendees at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.
The winners of the festival's film competition were announced Sunday night at the "Hollywood Discovery Awards Presentation Ceremony at ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood. This year's winners are: "CROSSING" by Kim Tae-kyun -- Best Feature Film; "GARBAGE DREAMS" by Mai Iskander -- Best Documentary; "SCENESTERS" by Todd Berger -- Best Comedy; "STORIES FROM THE PERCH" by Andrew Zimbelman -- Best Animation, "LAMBS" by Stephen Huff -- Best Short Subject, "AS I LAY DYING - THE SOUND OF TRUTH" by Brian Thompson -- Best Music Video.
AS I LAY DYING frontman Tim Lambesis comments on the win “The Sound of Truth video could not have been made without an entire team of amazing people. It was a combination of two individually complex forms of art that came together seamlessly to create one great video I'm very proud of. The basic concept is related to the music and lyrics that we wrote, but Brian Thompson and his whole crew took that beyond what we could have imagined.”
Directed by Brian Thompson, who helmed their futuristic clip for "Nothing Left," the video for "The Sound of Truth" was made at Sound City Studios in Van Nuys, CA and is a continuation of the story the first video initiated. Like its predecessor, the story for this video was conceived by the band, fine-tuned by director Brian Thompson, and displays the irony and hypocrisy that takes place in a decaying futuristic society.

AS I LAY DYING’s video for I Never Wanted to premier on Headbanger’s Ball
Headbangers Blog and Headbangers Ball are set to premiere the latest video from Grammy Nominated San Diego act AS I LAY DYING for the track I Never Wanted off of their critically and fan acclaimed release An Ocean Between Us. Here’s what guitarist Phil Sgrosso has to say about the video that was taken from the bands first ever DVD release This is Who We Are, which just landed on the Billboard Top Music Videos Chart in both the US (#2) and Canada (#3) for first weeks sales.
“We've talked about doing a video for I Never Wanted for quite some time now. Most videos that we've done have been for more fast and aggressive songs that have the usual AILD sound to it but we wanted to mix things up and do a video for a slower (but still heavy!) song that would be made up of footage from our new DVD, This Is Who We Are.”
“Denise Korycki filmed and directed our DVD so we thought it would be perfect for her to make a video that incorporated mostly footage from the DVD, plus some bonus stuff as well! The live footage is made up of several shows that we played in the past few years while the 'hanging out' footage was shot mostly while we were...well...hanging out. Not much more to it, I guess! Generally it takes us a day or two to film one of our videos but in a way, it took several years to make I Never Wanted what it is. I hope you enjoy it.”
Headbangersblog.com will premiere the video for I Never Wanted on Thursday 4/30 and Headbangers Ball will premiere the video on the show on 5/9.

San Diego based Grammy Nominated metalers AS I LAY DYING have appeared on TASTE OF CHAOS, OZZFEST, headlined the 2006 SOUNDS OF THE UNDERGROUND Tour, CORNERSTONE, BAMBOOZLE 2006 and just about every significant hard music festival around the globe. With This Is Who We Are, AS I LAY DYING steps into new territory by releasing their first ever DVD consisting of a 3DVD set produced and directed by Denise Korycki (Cannibal Corpse Centuries of Torment DVD) that provides viewers with live performances and a complete AS I LAY DYING audio/visual history.

This complete band history includes in depth artist interviews and commentary, interviews with friends and family, as well as observations and road stories from colleagues and bands that have worked with and befriended AS I LAY DYING since the band’s inception.
Disc #2 – LIVE performances (w/ the current lineup)
Over an hour and a half of live performances captured at As I Lay Dying’s Southern California shows in November 2008 including the Jumping Turtle, The Grove, and Seacoast Community Church, international festivals including Wacken and With Full Force, and US festival Cornerstone.
Disc #3 – music videos and bonus features including more touring stories, profiles on personalities & more
