Amon Amarth launches new interactive mobile app
Interactive fan club now available for iphone, android, and on facebook
Amon Amarth is launching their very own interactive fan club, called Mobile Backstage, for smartphones, Facebook and for the Web.
"This will allow us to have a more direct communication with our fans, and will speed up the information process for everything such as news and tour dates, as well as give our fans some special peeks behind the scenes of future tours and festivals," says Johan Hegg.
"When we first thought of creating our own app, we pretty soon realized that the mobile backstage solution was the right thing for us. It's a combination of mobile and Facebook apps and a web interface that creates a digital fan club and allows us to reach all our fans no matter where they are," says Fredrik Andersson.
"We're very excited to bring Mobile Backstage to Amon Amarth," said Paavo Bäckman, the CEO of Mobile Backstage.
With Mobile Backstage, Amon Amarth and their fans can exchange news, pictures, videos, audio clips and messages in an intimate and personal environment, far from the noise and clutter of other social media. AMON AMARTH to celebrate 20th anniversary with five special shows!
Swedish death metallers AMON AMARTH will celebrate their 20th anniversary with five special shows which will take place this August in Germany, Poland and Holland.
The band states, "We will perform two whole sets containing songs from our entire career and we will also arrange a meet-and-greet on all shows."

New music video shot live in Philadelphia on May 6th by director David Brodsky of MyGoodEye
Starting today, fans can check out the new AMON AMARTH music video for the track Destroyer of the Universe off the band’s latest release Surtur Rising. The live video, which is premiering exclusively on BlankTV, was shot on the band’s May 6th stop in Philadelphia, PA at the Theatre Of Living Arts by director David Brodsky of MyGoodEye (The Black Dahlia Murder, The Devin Townsend Project, Suicide Silence, Municipal Waste, Whitechapel, etc).
“This time around we wanted to catch the energy and atmosphere of a live show, so we simply went for a live video. We look forward to get back to North America in August to continue and fulfill the ‘Evening’ tour, meanwhile enjoy the video.” comments guitarist Olavi Mikkonen.

AMON AMARTH To Return To North America This August
Following up a hugely successful U.S. headlining tour that found the band touring without support and instead performing two separate sets each night, melodic death metal legends AMON AMARTH will return to North America for the second leg of the "An Evening With AMON AMARTH" tour.
Scheduled to kick off in Vancouver on August 4, the trek will ravage its way through 22 cities, including several Canadian venues, and come to a close in Boise on September 3. The first set will again feature the band performing the recently-released, critically-acclaimed Surtur Rising album in its entirety while the second will offer up mixed bag of tunes from their extensive catalog of Norse-inspired awesomeness.
Commented the band in a collective statement: "Yes, it is true! We are coming back to tour North America. The Spring tour turned out to be so successful, and we had such a great time playing the double sets each night, that we decided to bring 'An evening With AMON AMARTH' to the rest of the continent, including Canada! We will perform the new album in its entirety, and after that we're doing a revised second set with all the classics as well as some 'wild-cards.'"

Surtur Rising, the latest studio album from Swedish death metal tyrants, AMON AMARTH sold approximately 15,000 copies in the United States landing the band the #34 spot on the Billboard Top 200, #6 on the Billboard Top Independent Album, #1 on the Billboard Top Hard Music Albums and #10 on the Indy/Small Chain Core Store Chart. The record entered Austria's Top 40 Chart at #12 and Switzerland's Top 100 at #20. In Germany, Surtur Rising sold over 14,000 units, entered the Top 100 Chart at #8 and is in the official Media Mark charts at #14 in its second week.
In addition, Surtur Rising came in at #19 on Canada's Top 200 Chart, #5 on the Independent Charts and #2 on Hard Charts. Band To Perform Two Sets Each Night!
Melodic death metal tyrants AMON AMARTH are proud to announce their 2011 U.S. headlining tour. Simply dubbed "An Evening With AMON AMARTH," this very special trek will find the band touring without support and instead performing two separate sets each night! One set will feature upcoming album Surtur Rising in its entirety. The Viking-inspired festivities will commence on April 14th in Chicago, Illinois and pillage its way through 17 cities throughout the country before drawing to a climactic close on May 7 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Swedish Viking Death Metal Kings AMON AMARTH have posted an update about what's going on in the band camp.
"The last couple of months we have been busy working on our follow up to "Twilight of the Thunder God". Ten songs were written and on October 1 we started tracking drums for the album in Park Studios.
After a short trip to Tokyo, which included our first ever show in Japan at the renowned LOUD PARK festival, we continued tracking bass and guitars at Fascination Street studios. Recordings have been going well and we are now more than half-way through and the album starts to take shape.
We'll keep you updated with more info soon!

"We have come to an end. After almost two years of touring we have now reached the twilight of the thunder god.
Ruisrock in Turku, Finland officially marked the very last show in support for our latest album. We're still doing a few selected off shows though. We'll be making our very first appearance in Japan at Loud Park Festival in October. And early next year we'll be performing on the high seas at 70 000 Tons of Metal.
We've had an amazing time on the road supporting this album. Got to tour with many great bands and met loads of awesome people. There have been highs and lows. Highlights include our first tour in South America, performing in Beijing, Taiwan and India, and fulfilled a long time dream by sharing the stage with the almighty Slayer.
We want to thank our loyal friends and fans for the support. Thanks to our crew who has been putting up with us for so long. Thanks to our management and label for covering our backs and everyone else who have been involved in some way, big or small, in bringing us to the far reaches of the world.

Amon Amarth will release Versus The World as the fourth and last album in this year’s re-issue series on November 10th in North America.
The re-issue comes in a lavish digipak. CD 1 includes the remastered Versus The World album. CD 2 bears the same tracklist as CD 1, recorded live at the band's December 31, 2008 show as part of the ‘Bloodshed over Bochum’ concert series. As with the previous re-issues, this comes a 16-page booklet with interesting, new liner notes by the band!

Amon Amarth announce deluxe re-issue of “The Crusher”!
After re-releasing the first two albums in the bands career, Once Sent From The Golden Hall and The Avenger - earlier in the year, Amon Amarth are ready to unleash the third beast in the re-issue series. The deluxe re-issue of The Crusher will see the light of day on September 1st.
The Crusher will be released again as a digipak featuring two discs. Disc one features the entire album remastered by Jens Bogren plus the bonus track, The Eyes Of Horror, which is a cover song, originally done by the mighty Possessed!
Disc two features the live recording of the show Amon Amarth played on December 30, 2008 in Bochum, Germany in which they played the album in its entirety. The order of songs is the same as on disc one (excluding The Eyes Of Horror). Similarly to the first two re-issues, this one also features new liner notes written by the band.

Amon Amarth receives Metal Hammer Golden Gods Award!
Amon Amarth recently appeared at Metal Hammer’s Golden Gods 2009 awards at the 02 in London, playing a blistering 15 minute set alongside Saxon, Trivium, DevilDriver and Anvil.
Soon afterwards, they walked away with an award for BEST BREAKTHROUGH ACT. This is made all the more sweeter as this Golden God is one of the awards voted for by fans and readers of Metal Hammer.
Vocalist Johan Hegg comments on the award: “This came as a total surprise to us! We are honored that we have such a strong support base and we’d like to thank all you metal heads that voted for us. Winning the Breakthrough Metal Hammer Golden God Award is big for us, and together with all the great things that happened during the last years; high chart entries, great concert turnouts, playing in worldwide territories and opening for Slayer makes this all together totally amazing. Amon Amarth announce US tour with Goatwhore, Skeletonwitch & Lazarus A.D.!
Sweden’s Amon Amarth is sailing back to the states to re-conquer cities across the US. They’re bringing Goatwhore, Skeletonwitch and thrash newcomers Lazarus A.D. along for the voyage.
Amon Amarth’s latest album, Twilight of the Thunder God, has been heralded by fans and critics as the band’s best work to date and debuted at #48 on the Billboard top 200 charts upon its release on September 30th, 2008.
Goatwhore is wrapping up work on their follow up to 2006’s A Haunting Curse. You can check out the band playing one of their new songs, Carving Out the Eyes of God, live from the Ridglea Theatre on 11/21/08 on youtube.com.
Lazarus A.D. are set to release their Metal Blade debut, The Onslaught, on March 3rd. The album was mixed and mastered by James Murphy (Death, Testament) and promises to be one of the top metal debuts of the year.
