Sweden's Amon Amarth will be re-issuing their first four albums throughout 2009. This epic series continues with their sophomore album, The Avenger. This album featured the debuts of both Johan Söderberg, who was added as a second guitarist, and Fredrik Andersson, who was brought in to replace the recently departed Martin Lopez on drums. Martin continued on in Opeth and the rest of the line up in Amon Amarth of Johan Hegg, Olavi Mikkonen & Ted Lundström has remained solid to this day, not an easy feat in the dynamic and physically grueling world of heavy metal touring and recording.
The Avenger re-release will contain two discs packaged in a digipak with tons of photos and new liner notes from the band. Disc one features the entire The Avenger album, completely re-mastered with the bonus track, Thor Arise.
Disc two features the live recording of the second show from “Bloodshed over Bochum”, filmed on December, 29th in Bochum, Germany, in which Amon Amarth played The Avenger in its entirety.
