Die Athener Symphonic Death Metaller NIGHTFALL haben soeben den neuen Videoclip zum Titeltrack ihres aktuellen Albums Astron Black veröffentlicht!
Surft zu Metal Blade TV um Astron Black anzuchecken!
Regisseur Achilleas Gatsopoulos: "We decided not to go safe and continue with the shadow puppet approach for the second video too, even though there is still a lot of space for experimentation within that. Instead, I came up with an entirely different style that would add yet another facet to the complex task of visualising Nightfall's music.
Working with the lyrics and with Efthimis conceptual guidance, I set up a vast backdrop of space and time for our characters to inhabit, incorporating various planetary and astronomical elements. The characters include mythical deities such as Gaia, Prometheus, Venus / Pandora, as well as Astron Black, who symbolises mankind and its progress through time.
The video also incorporates Pandora's myth from Hesiod's Theogony. Gaia gives birth to stars and deities, to Prometheus. Prometheus stole the fire (also a metaphor for knowledge and practical thought) and gave it to man. Zeus punished Prometheus by binding him to a rock where the great eagle would come and eat his intestines every day. As an act of revenge on mankind, he creates Pandora, the first woman. Here we present Venus Pandora, who also posseses the power of sexual desire over man. Her curiosity proves fatal, as she opens the urn bestowed to her by the Gods, unleashing all evils upon mankind, leaving only hope inside.
The style of the video brings together various elements such as stylish costumes, live action footage and CGI, adding a modern approach to the ancient but timeless imagery of our characters and situations. I truly believe that once again we managed to successfully recreate and enhance the lyrical and musical themes and create something unique that will stand the test of time stylistically."

Athens Symphonic Death Metaller NIGHTFALL haben mit dem Schnitt ihres neuen Clips zum Titeltrack ihrer aktuellen Scheibe ‘Astron Black’ begonnen! Der Clip wird aller Voraussicht nach am 1. September online gehen.
Erneut ist das Konzept voll von griechischen Göttern, Gottheiten und anderen heiligen und unheiligen Kreaturen. Weder Regisseur Achilleas Gatsopoulos noch die Band wollten aber Aufbau und Technik des Videos zu Ambassador of Mass (link), das auf einem Schattenpuppentheater basierte, wiederholen.
"There is no reason trying to repeat a successful thing unless you do it for the money", kommentiert das Team sarkastisch und fährt fort: "this is not the issue here. The challenge of creation is priceless and we strictly do it for the art thing of it"

NIGHTFALL Sänger Efthimis Karadimas kommentiert den Clip wie folgt: "The story depicted is inspired by the Greco-Persian wars in the 5th century BC. The video is purely based on the ancient technique of Shadow Puppet Theatre evolved and widely used in different areas of the world eons ago. Every character, ship, map, etc you see in it has been built from scratch especially for that motion clip. The video has been directed by Achilleas Gatsopoulos, a prominent master of visual arts, based in the city of Berlin. I am sure you haven't seen anything similar around!"
Regiesseur Achilleas Gatsopoulos hat Folgendes zu sagen: "After our initial talks and meetings with Efthimis, we decided to approach the video in a challenging and unconventional way. We chose to use shadow puppetry and push its boundaries through modern technology in order to create something really unique; something that could best convey the epic scale of our story. Considerable research ensued, and the storyline was constructed according to the structure and lyrics of the song, sprinkled with a touch of mythology, while staying true to the actual historical facts. The design and construction of the puppets were done in collaboration with fine artist Hara Kolaiti, referencing on the one hand the Ancient Greek vases' depictions of greek warriors of the time, and on the other, the numerous detailed reliefs of Xerxes and his warriors in Persepolis. In total, more than thirty meticulously detailed puppets and backgrounds were created for the video. These were shot one by one and then composited into scenes digitally. The aim was to take Shadow Puppetry as a traditional medium, and explore its cinematic potential. Thus, scenes were created both in two dimensional space, as well as in three dimensional epic camera shots. The result is a trully original and unconventional music video that best complements Efthimis' musical vision."

Über NIGHTFALL:
Seit Bandgründung im Jahre 1990 ging es Frontmann und Chefdenker Efthimis Karadimas darum, stetig die musikalischen Grenzen der Band zu erweitern. Sogar erstmals mit internationaler Beteiligung: Der deutsche Drummer Jörg Uken (der kreative Kopf der deutschen Soundlodge Studios) bringt seinen Thrash n' Death-Stil ins Songwriting mit ein und kümmert sich zusätzlich um die Produktion. Keyboarder Stathis Kassios sorgt für einen Tastenteppich, der durch seine harmonische Akzentuierung die Musik von NIGHTFALL auf noch nie betretenes Land führt. Zu guter Letzt liefert der amerikanische Gitarrist Evan Hensley aggressives, präzises Riffing und melodische Leads ab, die reich an Emotionen sind. Über KING OF ASGARD:
KING OF ASGARD wurden im Jahre 2008 von Karl Beckman gegründet, nachdem er seine anderen musikalischen Projekte aufgelöst hatte. Er tat sich mit seinem lange verschollenen alten Komplizen Karsten Larsson zusammen, mit dem er schon in der Wikingerhorde Mithotyn gemeinsam gewütet hatte. Nach jahrelanger Trennung war schnell klar, dass beide zurück zu ihren Wurzeln gehen wollten. Sowohl musikalisch als auch textlich, was sich auf der nordische Erbe bezieht, das sie in ihren Texten weitertragen wollen.
Entschlossen, einen glorreichen Triumph zu landen, checkten KING OF ASGARD sofort verschiedene Studios und entschieden sich letztendlich für das Sonic Train Studio mit Produzent Andy La Rocque hinter dem Mischpult. So wird dort im März 2010 das KING OF ASGARD-Debüt eingespielt. Ziel der Band ist es, das Studio mit zwölf schwer nach Folk müffelnden Songs, die tief im Extrem-Metal wurzeln und die alten Zeiten heraufbeschwören, zu verlassen.

NIGHTFALL können stolz verkünden, dass niemand Geringeres als Travis Smith das Artwork für ihr kommendes Werk Astron Black and the Thirty Tyrants anfertigen wird!
Die Band hat sich bereits lebhaft mit Travis über die Ausrichtung des Artworks ausgetauscht. Das Ergebnis wird einzigartig und kraftvoll ausfallen, weil es die Epik und rohe Wut der Musik durch die große Auswahl an verschiedenartigen Ebenen und Elementen in Smiths Kunstwerken widerspiegelt. Travis Smith arbeitete bereits mit Bands wie Opeth, Iced Earth, Death, Katatonia, Nevermore u.a. zusammen.

Die griechischen Metalgötter NIGHTFALL melden sich mit einem brandneuen, knochenspaltenden Album zurück, welches ihren Anspruch auf den hellenischen Metalthron untermauert! Astron Black and the Thirty Tyrants ist eine symphonische Death Metal tour-de-force, versunken in epischen Farben und Bombast, dargeboten von neuen Gesichtern, die dem klassischen NIGHTFALL Sound mehr Inhalt und Drive verleihen.
Das Album wurde in verschiedenen Studios aufgenommen, wobei der Großteil im norddeutschen Soundlodge eingespielt wurde. Produziert wurde Astron Black and the Thirty Tyrants von Efthimis Karadimas (Athenian Echoes) und co-produziert von Jorg Uken (bekannt von seinen Arbeiten mit God Dethroned, Dew-Scented und Sinister). Seine Erfahrung als Produzent und seine Seele als neuer Schlagzeuger der Band stellte ein großes Plus bei den Aufnahmen dar und wird jeden begeistern, der auf klassisches Schlagzeugspiel steht!
Das ungefähr 43 Minuten lange, 12 Songs umfassende Album wird noch diesen Sommer veröffentlicht. Der Großteil der Aufnahmen ist erledigt, die Details der Postproduktion sind derzeit in Arbeit.
Im direkten Anschluß folgen Mix und Mastering; der massive Sound kombiniert die einzigartige europäische Rohheit mit US-amerikanischer Gitarrenkenntnis. Sicherlich ein Album, das man nicht verpassen will. Die Veröffentlichung ist für Sommer 2010 angepeilt, ein Videoclip wird bereits vorab veröffentlicht, um die Zeit bis zur Veröffentlichung zu überbrücken.

Das Album wurde in verschiedenen Studios aufgenommen, wobei der Großteil im norddeutschen Soundlodge eingespielt wurde. Produziert wurde Astron Black & the Thirty Tyrants von Efthimis Karadimas (Athenian Echoes) und co-produziert von Jorg Uken (bekannt von seinen Arbeiten mit God Dethroned, Dew-Scented und Sinister). Seine Erfahrung als Produzent und seine Seele als neuer Schlagzeuger der Band stellte ein großes Plus bei den Aufnahmen dar und wird jeden begeistern, der auf klassisches Schlagzeugspiel steht!
Das ungefähr 43 Minuten lange, 12 Songs umfassende Album wird noch diesen Sommer veröffentlicht. Der Großteil der Aufnahmen ist erledigt, die Details der Postproduktion sind derzeit in Arbeit.
Im direkten Anschluß folgen Mix und Mastering; der massive Sound kombiniert die einzigartige europäische Rohheit mit US-amerikanischer Gitarrenkenntnis. Sicherlich ein Album, das man nicht verpassen will. Die Veröffentlichung ist für Sommer 2010 angepeilt, ein Videoclip wird bereits vorab veröffentlicht, um die Zeit bis zur Veröffentlichung zu überbrücken. Metal Blade Records verkünden gerne die Vertragsunterzeichnung der griechischen Black/Gothic Metal Götter NIGHTFALL!
